Everything is open storage in this home, you would have to be a hardcore minimalist to maintain its feeling of openness, and to keep it from looking super messy in general. I think in this case it's definitely a home designed for aesthetics over practicality. Absolutely beautiful as a summer cottage for a few days though.
exactly. having people over would be a bit of a problem, even if its purpose is as a summer house. too much open-ness is appreciable in some houses, especially if there are still subtle separation. It has a great lighting and setup sure, but the open concept here is a bit of a bummer.
It's not a home. It's for summer getaways etc. It's very hard to get water supply to those islands unless you're a big hotel etc. No one would live there long term.
Exactly. Perfect for a hotel room. I would very much like to be hosted there. In that case, the kitchen could be a storage place for the guests instead.
This is beautiful, but like many others, I was a bit disconcerted by the lack of bathroom privacy. Looking at the floor plans and the shot of the bathroom at 4:51, I think the toilet is actually in a separate niche behind the shower, and also has a door. Not sure why this wasn't made clearer in the video, though. "Can I poop in peace?" is pretty high on my list of criteria for good appartment design.
exactly even the steam from the shower would fill up the room anytime you use it. The only way I could see this design used is for a solitary person who didn't plan on having any guests bc the design simply doesn't allow for proper function beyond providing the basic necessities
@@aloeee This is a summer house, not a full time residence and probably for a single person or at most a couple. I like the fact that is provides no more than the basics to relax and enjoy the place.
I think as a summer home, it's perfect! As long as you are careful who's able to view your shower, the openness means great ventilation, right? I doubt these tiny spaces were built for people bringing tons of stuff. Is there plenty of markets nearby to get daily foods and drinks? Simplicity can be so radiant and relaxing! 💞
I thought the same! The guests definitely needs to buy groceries every second day, since there are no cabinets at all. Anyway, beautiful relaxing design!
@guamby guambelle The “ventilation “ issue would be a problem for me,,,, imagine some of the gasses coming from that part of the apartment 💨💨💨 I mean I share everything to my friends but not that plus the thought of someone singing in the shower that can not actually sing 🎧🎧 oh my! On a plus side it’s very bright, I like but would choose some kind of closer for the bathroom
Well, it obviously is pretty, but what about functionality? Many people in the comments pointed out lack of privacy in the bathroom and lack of closed storage. What concerns me is that almost no sitting space offers back support. The only one that does is the sofa in the living room, but only if you consider leaning on a bare wall a back support.
Only 1 bedroom so it's only for a single person or a couple. Curtains around the windows solve the privacy. As for the rest, theres a bit of room for your own customisations, bit of shelving or cushions here and there.
What a beautiful space, yet again! I’d love to see an eclectic style small space or a space that’s small but designed for someone that still likes to collect and display things 🤔
Exactly. I am not a sleek minimalist. I want colors, pattens and lots of personality. I myself live in a small studio apartment that I have decorated in an eclectic way with a mix of the 70’s and a Scandinavian style, with red, orange and yellow as my base colors. Men, women, children tell me that it is cozy or hygge. I love these videos but I still would like more individuality, craziness and less impersonal minimalism.
The window in the kitchen really fucks with my brain. Instead of me sitting there eating breakfast and look out the window for that amazing view i have to stare at a wall.
This seems more a hotel room than a villa, and even most hotel rooms have a small closet and a door to the bathroom. The kitchen might be too basic for an extended stay, especially since the location looks a bit remote. I do like the outdoor space but don't think this would be my first choice if staying in the area.
visually its beautiful, but its strange that it can sleep potentially 6 people, but there is zero privacy for the bathroom, and no storage. you basically force people to have each of their travel bags laying out everywhere, cluttering up walkways. i would have given the closet and bathroom a folding wooden shutter door. the closet inset looks lovely open like this in the video, but practically, visitors will have more things to store. i would have made the bed lift up to have storage inside/underneath. i'd replace the wall sconces with ceiling lamps and added another open shelf over the sink, chuck the stools & add another 2 cabinets, leave out one shelf over the fridge to make the fridge a little bigger. last, i would have added a semi-transparent white curtain dividing the bed space and the lounge space.
You haven't understood the design at all....folding doors & curtains...!.. Its beautifully designed for its purpose to sleep 4 people in a minimalist environment.
@@carolinefalvey683 so only minimalist people will stay here? once there are actual guests who bring their travel bags & need to poop & shower like humans, not everyone will necessarily appreciate the open bathroom & cluttering up the space because theres nowhere to put their bags. even for just 2 people, i'd rather have some privacy in the bathroom..
As far as bathroom privacy, the toilet does have a door. I think the video didn't show it very well. And a couple would be comfortable showering in front of each other. I'm guessing the residence would not shower when they have guests staying on the couch. The couch is more for the occasional overnight, rather than a multi day visit.
I've been in hotel rooms with a more bigger closet than the one in the video. The privacy is a factor to have in mind in all cases either a house or a summer villa. But the concept itself for me, is a dream come true after all. Exquisite.
The magnificent mediterranean topography and sea in the opening sequence !!! Makes me think sometimes the outside is more important than the inside. So the design of the house is extroverted, the living is extroverted, the mediterranean climate integrates all the living environment. It also reminded me of le cabanon of le corbusier with the minimalist and extroverted way of living, again mediterranean.
Very thoughtful design. I would love to stay here. The stone entrance was is so inviting. Everything open makes for great ventilation, ease of cleaning, economic building and less likely to leave belongings behind. Also, any critters or creepy crawlies instantly visible, LOL. I hope the owners and guests appreciate the talented designers. TFS
An aesthetically beautiful home in wonderful setting. Love the light and airy feel and the natural materials. For one person it could be nice. For a couple, the lack of privacy between rooms could be an issue if were a full-time home.
Built in storage in the bed and other couch would have been practical. Storage shelves in the kitchen and more power point would have made it perfect. It feels very open but more clever storage would have made it perfect
might I suggest using more contrast when showing the floor plans, its very difficult to see the lines of the floor plan when you use white over light grey.
This is easily one of my top fav. The deco is very minimalist and so clean but yet manage to not look too empty and dystopian thanks to the tasteful use of wood, timber materials that helps give natural contrast to the predominantly white coloured interior. Love the curvy radius applied to many parts of the interior too, gives it fluidic flow throughout the space. Also loves the white raw rock texture of the exterior wall, looks so rich and beautiful. The best of all is the cat's cameo appearances 😺 Kudos to the designers, this is very inspiring, I love it ⭐
I have many reservations on this design. Especially the small windows and the unharmonious colors. However, I do agree that you managed well in this small space
Where is the oven? On holidays with different families, they love to cook generous meals together, but I am sceptical if this works with that kitchen. Of course there is the fireplace outside but you would have to have magnificient weather which in most of the time is the case in Greece in the summer, but not always.
I love the privacy and isolation of this location. Perfect for 2 ! An absolutely perfect romantic getaway! Keep the kids at home. They would fall off the mountain, anyway.
This looks like a lovely getaway place for a holiday. I suppose if you were enjoying the sun and sea, you might not want to be indoors very long? I'm not sure about the function of such a tiny pool (perhaps to cool off? But pools get hot on hot days... does it have a jacuzzi, or is it like a hot tub? maybe not for the summer, hmm), though it is a fun idea! I guess if you are staying there with your SO or on your own, the bathroom having no door may be less of a concern, but I'd prefer a light curtain at the very least, to preserve the aesthetic while maintaining some privacy. I also wonder where one would have space to put your luggage? There isn't much room either side of the bed nor in the closet area. Even if this is meant to be like an airbnb or holiday space (I wouldn't call it a holiday home), you definitely need room for a suitcase or the like, rather than it sitting awkwardly in the tiny living area or squashed beside the bed.
I think it would be helpful to let viewers know if the space was designed with Airbnb in mind - that changes perspective. Nothing looks comfortable in this space. It might be ok for a weekend with your family but not a long-term stay. The desk has no room for your knees under (and it's too high with this chair), so it's pretty useless. The counter and chairs in the kitchen are weirdly placed - one person is watching the wall while the other enjoys the view through the window. The opened shower might create an unnecessary wet floor all around the space after someone takes a shower and someone else wants to use toiled (not saying that it might be intimidating to shower there at all). However, it's still better than showering over the toilet seat, which is common in Greece.
A nice look for a boutique hotel room, but not very practical as others have pointed out. For a 'summer house', I find the connection between indoor and outdoor rather underwhelming with that narrow double door.

Love it! Beautifully done!!
Καταπληκτικό.. Παράδεισος! Μακάρι να εμενα εδώ..
Seems like and perfect Airbnb and it looks great. For a student oder a normal living it is maybe not the right thing. For a short vacation or a weekend it seems nice.
