I have these and love them. The only bad thing I can say is that while making Easter 🐣 baskets for my granddaughters, the hook pulled out of the rubber. BUT, in the hooks defense, I was using ribbon yarn and went down a size or 2 to make my stitches tight.
I just took a Sharpie Silver metallic marker and wrote the letter size and number on the dark colored handles. Thank you for your video. I’m happy that I bought these hooks.
I've had this exact set for about 2 years now and I LOVE LOVE LOVE these hooks. The snips and the locking markers are great. I cracked the little plastic tube holding the yarn needles a week after I got the set.🤭 I have also worn some of the printed sizes off. The imprints on the sizing are a bit hard for me to see. My solution? I made a little cardstock chart (about the size of a business card) using colored markers (cheap ones from Ikea!) in boxes to match the colors of the handles and then listed the letter and millimeter sizes next to the appropriate color box. I covered the card in clear packing tape to laminate it and tucked it in the case. I can see what I need at a glance. The 7 millimeter size (notice there is no letter?) is not as common in here the US for some bizarre reason. No doubt it's somehow related to the fact that we stubbornly refuse to embrace the metric system. I was thrilled that this set included the elusive 7 mm. I absolutely 100% recommend these hooks.
I’ve purchased several different sets lately to replace the ones that disappeared in the recent move. Side note: I will keep my needles close by and transport by hand myself in the future. I had crochet needles that belonged to my mom and great grandmother that are now gone. Anyway, the sets of needles I’ve gotten recently include 7mm so the manufacturers are wising up. One is calling the 7 mm K+.
I'm so relieved. I was afraid you were gonna say these were bad and then I'd have self doubt. I love these hooks too. My stamped numbers rubbed off too and the imprint is fine. They are Smooth.
I love my Yarniss hooks and find them to be a good value, but I don't use the case they come in. yes they are still available in 2024 and mine came with snipers in blue instead of orange.
I discovered this set a few months ago, and after buying one, I bought three more - two to give away, and one for "back-up", ha ha, to add to my extensive collection of Boye and Clover, because...don't we all love to have too many hooks?? I have to say, though - the first thing I do is wash off the print, because another reviewer mentioned that it rubs off. I wish the engraving included the letter as well as the millimeters. The first set was easy to wash off, so maybe they're trying to improve the ink, but I don't want it on there! It's amazing you've used those four years and the ink is still intact!!
I’m learning on this set right now. I purposely bought an inexpressive set in case I decided that crochet isn’t for me. I don’t have experience with any others too compare them too I haven’t had any problem with them.
I'm going to buy a set today and give it a try. I've only used the aluminum hooks. Also I about drooled over the 7mm hook. Hard to find must have tool.
I started with the cheap rubber hooks from Walmart. Then started using using the aluminum silver hooks then I bought for my birthday the love knitting set colored set. I love them they are the only ones I use. I have tried using going back and for with the ergo and the plain metal ones and my tension is totally different from the hooks
I have made a label using a label maker. The tape lasts and lasts. These hooks are very long lasting. Love the cases. The only one sad thing about these sets is their scissors are crap.
I purchased this set, it’s really cute. But the intense factory chemical odor gave me an instant headache. I threw them out the same day I got them. seems like yours didn’t have that problem.
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. I don't remember the set I got having a smell, but I got my set about 4 years ago. Maybe the manufacturing process has changed. What a bummer!
One thing, and it’s not just these hooks but most ergonomic hooks, is that as the size goes down, so does the handle size. If you have arthritis, the handle getting smaller does no good. Any idea why manufacturers do this? It’s not like I can get a gripper to go over the smaller ones unless I get a set of regular hooks.
That's a very good point. Crochet hooks are a tool, and it's important to get what works best for you. I've bought and tried many types of hooks, and most of them don't work for me. Always makes me sad.
You know the self sticking tape stuff they use when you get blood work done? I use that to make comfortable grippy handles, you could totally build up your smaller handles that way, it’s pretty cheap and doesn’t slide around.
I just bought this same set as the one you are showing with the same pouch. I can’t see the size and number on the dark colored handles. What sizes are the dark blue, purple, and black hooks? The black print does not show up on dark colored handles.
@@amandagilbert9479 I've never had a hook slide out of the rubber handle so far. I did have one hook that had a rough spot that snagged the yarn which was a bummer. I can smooth it out, though.

I totally agree. I love these hooks. I love Boyd!!!
These aren’t Boyd, these are Yarnis. She said they are Boyd style .😊

Excellent idea making the size chart color grid!

I really appreciate your review especially the sizing of the hooks. Thanks
i love mine, markers little cheap, and scissors very dull, but hooks are great and love that they are a little longer

Great video. I’m ordering a set today. I’m always losing my hooks and the price is awesome!
Recd the hooks and they are really nice for the money. I have every size I’ll ever need!!!

I have these and use them all the time
How timely! I' m trying to crochet a cat pod & it requires very tight tension so I've been shopping. Was worried about how durable these would be
