Albert King - I'll Play the Blues for You, Pts. 1-2 (extended version)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 сер 2011
- If you're down an' out, an' you feel real hurt
Come on over, to the place where I work
An' all your loneliness, I'll try to soothe
I'll play the blues for you
Don't be afraid, come on in
You might run across, yeah, some of your old friends
All your loneliness, I've got to soothe
I'll play the blues for you
Come on in, sit right here, let's rap awhile
Ya see I'm kinda lonely too, ya know?
An' loneliness is a very bad thing
If ya let it get the best of ya
An' loneliness can get ya down, ya know?
Yeah, yeah, are you comfortable now?
Yeah, yeah, that's outta sight
Yeah, as I was sayin' before
Loneliness can get you down, an' I have heard of, ah
Loneliness blowin' some good people's mind, ya know?
But ya can't do that
This is a big world, this is a big world
An' there's too many nice things happenin' in this world
You're a very pretty girl
Where you live?
No, no, no, disregard that, that's okay, that's okay
Most important thing, I wanna know you
I say, I wanna know you
That's groovy, ain't it?
I'll play the blues for you
I ain't got no big name
Oh Lord, an' I ain't no big star
I'll play the blues for you on my guitar
All your loneliness, I'll try to soothe
I'll play the blues for you
Excuse me
They say you don't listen to Blues, you feel it!
I miss this generation of black music
The very reason I listened to this!
@@kerryjamesharris I'm white, but I love these songs, black people are very creative
This is the Blues. Either you understand or your don’t. As a small child I heard this song and never forgot it listening for the first time in an adult friendly club/grill. I will never forget. The blues is in my blood, in my bones. I walk with God but nothing says I can’t enjoy the Blues. God Bless.
OK
I am 14 years old and I love Blues so much. I love B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton and Many Others. About a week ago I listened to this song and I was like out of my mind. Albert King is a true Blues Legend and no matter what kind of mood I have, I always enjoy Blues! ❤
You Have Excellent Taste Young Man 👌🏿!!
I second that, we need more young people like you
Nothin lik the blues. I didnt hear or have knowledge of it till i ws 27. I love it love it love it. Im now 61 and it makes my mind bliss and my skin shiver with delight.
Albert King was a hack who ran around telling everyone he was B.B. King’s half brother early in his career.
I'm 71 and love the blues too ;-) listen to all the Kings - Freddie BB and Albert and you'll learn where your influences where influenced 😎
Jerry Beach, from Shreveport, LA, wrote this song. Jerry passed away yesterday, Sunday, January 10, 2016. He had been nominated for a Grammy for this song. Rest in Peace, Jerry.
Jerry is certainly going to leave a huge hole in the Monday night blues jam. He has gone on to the great blues gig in the sky now. R.I.P Jerry Beach. You are missed by so many.
+Randy Morgan RIP Jerry ,never heard of you but gona UA-cam you
Beach sent this to my father, head of Stax's publishing arm & Steve Cropper had asked my dad to take over A & R duties & listening to demos. My dad got this to King's producers. One of my favorite records!
Craig Falbaum lo
Craig Falbaum I have always like the blues to bad we just don't hear enough
That trumpet player Killin it too bam!!!
My dad introduced me to Albert King.
My dad passed away last August and whenever I think of him I listen to this song
You played the blues for me Mr. Ernest Moody Jr. and now I'll play the blues for you.
Rest in Everlasting Heaven Dad.
I love his Stax era with the MGs and the later live stuff.
He had good taste. Long Live your dad. ✊🏿
Very kind an heartfelt thank you for sharing. Rip.
I met him in the 80’s. Lovely humble gentleman.
Such greatness yet so humble.
Love a talented celeb that can be humble so rare these days
It's not just King's vocals and guitar, but the other instruments in his music, the brass instruments, that are so enriching to his music.
I am a 70's baby, my parents were born in 1936 and 1940 respectively. My mother used to play the blues all day long when I was a child, my dad played his jazz, be-bop, and funk. My oldest sister was into the Philadelphia soul sound, classic R&B, My middle sister played disco and punk, my youngest sister listend to anything and everything Motown. Me, well hip-hop first came along I was in my pre teen years, on my 11th Birthday, I got two turntables, and a dj mixer. I would have all of the original samples of all the songs from all of the great music I was exposed to throughout my childhood years. I remember looking through my moms and dads records to find this song, after hearing Big Daddy Kane sample this in the mid 1980s. Currently my mom is in the beginning stages of Dementia. The one thing I can do to lift her spirits is play these old songs on my bluetooth....she comes alive again😃. She especially LOVES the Blues....and oh Al Green, she said ole AL kept her and my dad together during their rough patch, saying how my dad would always sing "Still in Love with you" lol. This songs brings back great memories for me
God bless you dear for being there for your mom
Morris Brown ,What a beautiful story and memories!!!❤❤❤
Respect!

The best thing about learning blues is that you embark on the journey of closely listening and studying the best music in the world from the legends. But you got to listen with your soul more than your ears
Thats really true
Wow, good advice
The undisputed Master, incomparable, untouchable!
Big daddy Kane brought me here years ago. Young gifted and black. Play it. Thank me later

A blues treasure.
The day I posted this...was Albert King's 100th birthday. He's been gone for a long tiime, but I think his music is more amazing today than ever!
The legend continues to live on

I always considered Albert King the greatest guitar player of all time. Man he was so Underrated!
IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE BLUES IS LET A BLACK MAN PLAY THE BLUES FOR YOU.... YOU JUST MAY LEARN SOMETHING
WORD!!!!
I love all the Old Blues artists; however There's many other races that play as well.
Ain't nothin to do with he color of ya skin
What an incredibly adolescent thing to say.
And a lefthand player on a righthand neck
This is amazing. His guitar tone is fantastic. Voice is smooth.
Real player type
Real blues man not commercial ❤
Love this .. superb blues/guitar music. Albert KIng so brilliant but so sadly underrated
my mom was a baptist church organist from mississippi.....many hymns of glory she played in the key of BLUE ,,,, albert expresses that gift
A great guitarist Albert King, great. Salute from Italy.
This is to everyone that is playing guitar. Remember almost all hard rock and heavy metal is based on the blues. I've been playing guitar for 40 years. I first learned blues then hard rock and heavy metal. When I write my own songs I use all blues chords and scales to create my rhythms and leads. And I add a lot of distortion it sounds amazing. The blues are awesome!
This is a powerful song. Makes me miss loved ones. Made me pick up the bass guitar.
So many great blues performers, but Albert King, oh wow, just listen to the man! Sometimes I’m in the mood for Muddy Waters, sometimes B.B. King, sometimes Buddy Guy, et al, but I’m ALWAYS in the mood for Albert King!
What the world needs now is love, sweet love. And more Albert King.
Albert King got a smooth blues voice. Blues, best music in the world.
Love This !!!
The blues God's gift to humanity. The music that makes you happy and sad at the same time, how is that possible?
'cause it's from God....?????....
This song helped me get through some lonely days. Love it!!
Now this is music Bravo Albert RIP❤
It’s been a little over a year that this now 51 year old brother has been learning to play the guitar 🎸. As I pick a song of the moment to learn which I was familiar with as it was sampled by Big Daddy Kane and EPMD, not only has this been what I’ve been learning as of late, but this man’s whole style is just smooth soul stirred in blues with a sprinkle of jazz and dash of funk and I can’t get enough of it. “Christone “Kingfish” Ingram takes it to another even another level with his versions but still. This is the man right here. Much respect to his gift and style. ✊🏾
Superb live and underrated singer
Care what nobody say these dudes are jamming those instruments and lyrics like crazy, they can make a blind man see.
Make a blind man see and feel a little to Blue's that is

If voices were a fabric, Albert King's is velvet. Mercifully, he left behind some wonderful recordings for the generations coming up, to enjoy also. I absolutely love this song. Thanks to Arsen for posting this. Wonderful photographs too.
This song is really great and excellent. I love listening to this song every night and day, hello 👋How is the pandemic going over there? I'm delighted to meet you here. Where are you watching from? I'm Patrick Corey from California USA

They r the greatest
This is the best music
I hate i never saw him in concert. A truly gifted musican and singer
I can not fathom any dislike of this absolute gem, what you have hear is a perfect diamond.
Go on King Albert!! Can U believe at one time there were the Three Kings!?? BB, Albert and Freddy King!! Oh yeah nuthn' but the Blues Forever Baby!!!
amen to that brother
Kenneth Massey Sr Oh Yeah!!!!! I remember seeing & hearing them at the Ann Arbor Blues & Jazz festivals back in the early 1970s. I am thankful to be so fortunate to have witnessed such great performances in the day...
A bit late for my reply but there were actually 4 kings, you forgot Earl King. His contributions, although not as extensive as the other 3 (also its Freddie King not Freddy), are not to be ignored. That being said, I would literally kill to have the tone that Albert and Freddie had when playing.
The legend said, “excuse me” and then proceeded to shred with lyrical murder at the ready.
SIMPLY THE BEST! THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG!
This was a Blues Man
Mississippi Delta legend!
mojo Banks this man was the blues hands down!!!
Silent Rage blues need I say more
This is the best version because it has The Bar-Kays and The Memphis Horns backing him.
+Curtis Stanford Good point...this whole album was too great; not a bad song, and the backup as you point out, went a long way to making this collection as great as it is....
Curtis Stanford wow didn’t know that, thanks for the heads up.
Real music
I agree
Thanks for the info! Didn't know that.
He created other artists to go forward. a gifted. Their wont ever to life ever be an Albert King again. Never!
Touches very core of our souls. Master of blues. Love, respect, admiration and eternal gratitude, Mr. Albert King. Blessings always for time and eternity.
This is real music that soothes the soul and lifts the Higher Spirit, God Bless Albert King
blessings to you too for the comment
My buddy Tom Liberty played baritone sax on this album. He passed away in his sleep January 2016 with little to no one noticing. After a hell of a cool life I'm glad I got to be a part of his final years. I'll miss his stories about playing with all these groups and drag racing along with tons of other awesome things. RIP Squeaker
do you know the rest of the band members on this cut? Whatley Boy
Don't remember all the names but the band playing are the Barkays and the Memphis Horns.
Hey, he lived large though.
RIP and he was in great company on this LP

Nobody can't pick a guitar like Albert and b.b king nothing like some good blues remind me when my mother was living. Donald Tolliver
The very first time I heard this cut I was in LOVE with IT!!! My cousins and I would jam regularly to many JAZZ and BLUES CUTS. This was "back in the day" as it were. Kicking it, doing our THING. But EVERY time I walked in the door my cousin Mary Nell knew what I wanted to hear. Sometimes I'd have to beg. Then she'd finally put it on and I'd close my eyes and the groove would come over me like peace in a beautiful valley sitting under a tree just Albert King and me. BEAUTIFUL THIS CUT IS, SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!!
Triple THUMBS UP!!
And we all got along, Black White Hispanic whatever we all had fun just listening to the blues

Not to many blues artist are around now.
Riff in Peace Albert King. A master of conversating and deep soul penetrating blues.
The good Lord uses music, to help us through! Great.
Love the Blues!
Even Albert's grunts and groans are musical masterpieces.
I played with Albert king in 1984 while this song was freshly released. Never realized what he put in me. Same thing for Little Milton Campbell whom I played with at age 17. And finally Ko Ko Taylor the Queen of the Blues.. They put the blues in me.
I find myself performing their songs more than all others.like Im in A zone. A Blues Zone where everyone isn't allowed.
I will detacate a cd in their honor soon, God willings. Im so blessed. Got nothing but Love for them because of these experiences.

Just a little FYI folks, this song was written by Mr. Jerry Beach from Shreveport Lousiana and sold to Albert King. Jerry was one cool cat and has only in the last few days left us here in N. Louisiana and gone on to the great blues gig in the sky. R.I.P Mr. Jerry Beach. You are missed.
+Randy Morgan R.I.P. Jerry you left behind a classic
Very true. Jerry wrote it. He was a good friend. Met him right after he was shot 5 times on the Bossier strip...his hand still in a cast. Took me to Sound City for the very first time, as it was being built. 'Ran into a lot of old musician friends at the funeral....guys I havent seen in 25 years. RIP, Jerry..
I used to spin records during Jerry Beach’s shows at the old Le’Bossier Hotel back in the 1980’s. He was just as down to earth as any common guy, but he helped keep blues alive. Best white boy blues in Shreveport.
He sang the heck out this song.
1 of the 3 great Kings! Classic! Wish I'd been able to see him live.
I saw him in Iowa the year before he passed. He tore it up!
The legacy lives on...in 2022...and. Yes in 2220 ...that 's fact only our ancestors will concur..
No question about it one of the true masters of the blues & not to mention the fantastic guitar playing from a legend.
Thank GOD for my Mother & my Grandmother for the Blues.
I am sooooooo addicted to this quintessential blues song with that haunting sax solo in the background.....and those sweet horn lines.....and we won't even go into the guitar solo by the inimitable Albert King! If I listen to this once.....I always end up playing it at least another 10 times before I can turn it off!
+Narvelan Coleman This whole album was like you describe this song, re the horns and such...great album...not a bad song on it...unfortunately Stax (the label) went under a few years later....
