Her greatest achievement in life isn't being one of the most talented and beautiful actresses of her time, it's her strength, her ability to persevere with the most painful disease RA, and her amazing personality to cope and accept herself as she is right now. People who adapt to their changing circumstances in life have been studied by doctors and psychiatrists and studies have proven these are the individuals who are the most psychologically sound and healthy. In college I was her waiter at a concert club. She sent every dish back after a few bites and ordered one Perrier only. Her credit card declined and when I returned it, to tell her the check had been "comped", she held up her finger and said to me, I don't have money. I haven't got paid for this job yet (she was filming in Atlanta, GA). She turned to the guy next to her and said, Jeff, can you put this on your tab and tip the waiter. I'm broke right now. I'll get the next one. ...THAT is a woman that keeps it real in every sense.
They kinda glossed over it so FYI... she's been suffering from severe Inflammatory Arthritis (RA) since the 90's which is an auto immune disease much like MS and Lupus. First line treatment is typically Methotrexate which is a chemo drug... only difference is you take it low dose and for the rest of your life. Methotrexate interrupts your cells ability to use folic acid in order to replicate (why it slows growth of cancer cells). Unfortunately it can do that to every cell in your body, including cells produced in excess by your immune system (auto immune disease)... so for RA its like little mini chemo treatments once weekly forever... cause RA is chronic and incurable for most people. Prednisone use is also common especially in the past, which causes uncontrollable weight gain amongst other nasty side effects... these days looked upon as a last resort. RA is also often ten times more painful than Osteoarthritis... which is what most people think of as Arthritis. Of all the reasons to drink its a pretty understandable one. Most people with severe RA experience significant mobility issues within 10 years of diagnosis so depression is very common because it turns your life upside down. It looks to me shes now on some of the newer Biologic therapies (control symptoms much better), the first of which hit the market about 20 years ago, and it looks like she has managed to get some of her life back! Good for her, I hope she keeps Fighting!

Turner is such a fighter. If people only knew the hell RA is. The medicine is more dangerous than the disease and if one doesn’t kill you the other will. Hats off to this incredible actor!
I was diagnosed with RA 20 years ago. I didn't want to go on drugs, knowing the side effects. So I did some research and found that high doses of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) could help. Tried that - 500mg 3x/day, and was cured. Beware of doctors.
Valerie S you did “research” as in laboratory, double-blind studies, peer-review in a scientific journal, or google “research.” If the latter, you owe it to the world to get all your diagnostic medical notes and get yourself here to New Haven to Yale Medical School. A team of over-a-hundred scientists have been working tirelessly for decades to unlock RA. Since you’re cured yours, you should be evaluated to help others. Yes, the treatment is horrible, but you’re incorrect that the “medicine is more-dangerous-then the disease.” The adverse actions (“side effects”) of the traditional steroid-methotrexate cocktail can be unpleasant. But auto immune diseases will, indeed, “kill you”in a horrible manner. This is why millions of dollars are being funnelled into real research by real scientists at real universities. And there has been real progress with the current generation of anti-auto immunity meds and gene-based therapies. If a human has RA for twenty years and treated it with high doses of vitamin, one would expect that human to be in renal failure, in incapacitated, probably dead, as the expected life span of patient with RA who is untreated by science-based, scientifically-proven medicine and treatments is approx ten years. I’m sorry another commenter believes that MDs (and PhDs, I guess, since she stated “doctors” without qualifying any type doctor) are bad. Scientists are working hard to disentangle auto-immune disorders. Funding for all federal scientific research is at a near-stand still and private funding is seldom enough. So, since you’d be among the very few who’ve experienced remission, we would like to study (“research”) whether your remission is spontaneous and the vitamin therapy spurious, or if your body chemistry can help us unlock the horrible disorder. Of course, we know that vitamins do not cure autoimmune disorders. REAL research has ruled out most-of these pseudoscience”cures” decades ago. Without further info, I’d hypothesise that you either experienced a rare spontaneous remission, or more-commonly, were misdiagnosed. I’m assuming that you know that osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are quite-different entities.
Yes, I know the difference between RA and osteoarthritis. The medical establishment is hardly the "real" research. It is driven by money and the drug companies and there is no real research on natural cures because there isn't the billions of dollars in payoff that there would be for artificial drugs. You think you know everything but you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

I don't like how the interviewer brings up the fact that Kathleen Turner was pregnant when doing a sexy voice/role, as if it's so unheard of to still have sex appeal when pregnant. (Nobody could see Turner anyway, so what difference does it make?)
It's women's insecurity on display. She's thinking about how bloated and ugly she feels when she's pregnant and then trying to prove to herself that pregnant women can be sexy.

All you keyboard warriors out there are probably 1/3 her age, and I would bet money if you had this disease you'd be whining and complaining. I still see the same Kathleen Turner, its her spirit that has never aged, we all should take this as an example of how to age, no matter what happens to your health and body, retain your youthful spirit, that's what will be your legacy. Betty White is another prime example of this exact thing. Love you Miss Turner.
She still has her signature badass voice 😍
That shot of William Hurt looking out the window in Body Heat, was enough to keep the VHS tape in my collection.
Love her. She is genuine.
Hello Karen, How are you doing?
Kathleen's raw honesty is so refreshing!
I loved her in The War of the Roses. She is a talented actress.
Did you see BODY HEAT? Great movie and she was at her best
She was a real beauty in her day. Still she has real class and beauty .
We love you Kathleen. Wish you did more movies or even television. Your a Great actor and I've truly enjoyed your films. Thank you and your still a beautiful woman. Mert
I still love her! She was the shit in Body Heat and Prizzi’s Honor and hilarious in Serial Mom
Wow, she has changed, she was such a babe. But then, we all get older and less as we were when young. She's still an awesome soul I see.
Wooley689 - In her case it's more down to decades of chronic illness and the side effects of the treatments.
She always reminded me of Katherine Hepburn a little bit. Ultimately, they are even more similar to me in that, they are both such tough talented individuals & absolute treasures!

Not everyone with rheumatoid arthritis gets fat. She's not even on prednisone. She just doesn't want to exert the effort to look good. It's her right. It's not the disease.
@@ampa4989 'Not everyone...'
So.....you couldn't actually refute that she has had decades of chronic illness and treatments or that these treatments have, 'amazingly' had an effect on her body.
And then you tried to double down with your own prejudiced take. 😂
@@telectronix1368
LOL. Why is she spcial? Some people who have had RA for decades aren't fat. She's getting older and just doesn't give a crap. There's nothing wrong with that. Why are other older people without disease fat? You're very silly.
Excellent authentic, honest human being and actress, beautiful in her youth and aging just the way nature intended. She has also been suffering from Inflammatory Rheumatoid Arthritis for decades..living with incredible amounts of pain and numerous health problems, yet she never stopped stage acting, doing T.V. shows and occasional movie roles. It's always a joy to hear her amazing voice and to see her in good spirits. If only Hollywood had more of her ilk.
My family and I were fortunate enough to have see Kathleen Turner, Jason Biggs and Alicia Silverstone on Broadway in 'The Graduate.'
Still the best part of our NYC vacation. Everyone in the cast were great, especially Turner.
Still wish I could have seen her as Martha in the Broadway version of 'Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf.'
she's a goddess. strong. smart, optimistic, aware.
She was the most beautiful (in an outer, superficial way of course) in "Romancing the Stone." Michael Douglas looked great in that one, too! She seems like a character. I give her mad props. Her accent is unusual. She wasn't born in the USA?
Born in Missouri, USA.
St Louis I think also the accent mostly made by her not natural. She lived across the water for only few years but used the accent on stage and guess kept it. But being she is from MO its sounds stupid. I think she trying to sound like Lauren Becall
lemurian chick I am not disagreeing with you but even with Michael Douglas I found her to be much older than she actually was or was it ----- Harrison Ford?
@@vanessalawrence1008 She spent her entire childhood, nearly completed high school, outside the U.S. - Venezuela, Cuba, Canada and Britain - as her father was a career diplomat; her accent is completely natural.
@@vanessalawrence1008 no sorry, her voice even got raspier with age, its totally genuine
Love you Kathleen.......what a grand dame she is.
She still has beautiful eyes
What a beautiful woman and so lovely to see a fantastic actress without a frightening “melting plastic “ face
I loved her as Chandler’s dad on Friends.
She is just so very sophisticated. She is a beautiful, intelligent woman.
Hello Carolyn, How are you doing?
Body Heat & Serial Mom are excellent. Make sure you see them both. Great actress. Thanks Kathleen!
Yes. Kathleen in her prime was definitely drop dead gorgeous
Time and years are kind to no one.
Stop making blanket statements. Just say time has not been kind to her.
I respect her for not getting plastic surgery. I think she looks good aging gracefully
She had to take a lot of cortisteroids for her arthritis, that's why she looks so different. She's a very brave woman who has been through hell.
It's really the Weight that changed her. If she was smaller she wouldn't look so different.
Speak for yourself. Ms. Turner has been battling crippling rheumatoid arthritis for decades. She looks pretty good for someone who has had the health issues she has dealt with. The medications she’s taken and multiple surgeries she’s had have taken their toll.
She has severe rheumatoid arthritis and has had to get on steriods and RA meds that cause weight gain and voice changes. We all get old and no one stays beautiful forever.
Kathleen "Body Heat" Turner is an AMAZING PERSON. She was a STELLAR BEAUTY in her prime & now she remains a Mature Beauty. Her perseverance, her indomitable spirit, & her uniqueness are inspiring. I saw her in Palm Beach, FL years ago in her one-woman stage act as the IRREPRESSIBLE TULLULAH BANKHEAD. Only KT could have done the legendary TB justice. FABULOUS show, thank you, Kathleen.
What a voice ! Beautiful as ever; would have failed better without the alcohol abuse, of course. We all have things to overcome, giving us strength in the end. Happy she recovered and continued on stage, as well! Thank you for the interview clip!
Chandler's Dad 🤣
Im with you. Be yourself.
Hello Helen 😊
I rewind and watch a few times the shift of expression of the host from „that’s amazing“ to „can you sing a little for us?“ 😳🤭 at 00:37
Loved her in “Serial Mom”.
Damn...her voice got even DEEPER!
What a treasure!! Loved all her performances- amazing personality!
I remember serial mom. Loved that movie
If no-one has seen Body Heat, run, don't walk, and watch it.
Definitely, great actress in a great film!
She sounds like a heavy smoker.
Ken Leahy if I remember correctly, that was her "signature" voice even as a young actress. Always loved it!
...And looks like Fiona, Shrek's wife...sorry.
redhotrebel_christina you insult this woman and then cheekily say, sorry??? Let's see what age does to you and if you get any diseases. Let's see how sorry you really are at that point.
@carmena The ones with no pic got a lot to say. Hmmmmm
@goldie silver : Oh, oh. Here we go. You're one of those idiots fond of watching those stupid videos that claim to expose celebrities. Shut the fuck up.
To all these people complaining about her looks, you obviously didn't watch the video all the way through. Kathleen Turner has a major disease called Rheumatoid arthritis. The disease itself damages and degenerates the body severely and medicine she has to take FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE has caused the weight gain and all other kinds of other terrible side effects. All you keyboard warriors out there are probably 1/3 her age, and I would bet money if you had this disease you'd be whining and complaining. Yet here she is handling it so well and keeping her sense of humor.
I Absolutely Adore Everything about this woman. An Icon.
Kathleen Turner ❤

I use to see her on the subway in NYC a few times , she was lovely and classy and one terrific actor
Love her. From a different generation of women who are strong even when the body weakens.
A classy, talented actress. Lovely to see her. Wish her all the best.
I saw her on Broadway, amazing actress. Magnificent performance.
Iconic film star, of course. But I saw her onstage in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and she was extraordinary.
One she is honest OMG and Grounded!
Well, she looks all natural, that's how normal people age.
No, her poor body has been ravaged by disease and the drugs she needs to take to manage her condition and that has effected her aging significantly.
@@catherineshaw1122
Rheumatoid arthritis does not make you fat. She is just done trying to look good. It's OK. But it's not the RA or the treatments.
@@ampa4989 hey genius, one of the standard treatments for RA is long term use of steroids. That wreaks havoc with hormones and the endocrine system and the most common side effect is...wait for it...weight gain. I speak from experience and 30 years in the medical field. So again, her changed appearance is very much attributable to her RA. Trust me, she cares. She just can't do anything about it because she needs the medication to function without pain.
@@catherineshaw1122
Uh, she is not on prednisone. She's been on biologics for at least over a decade. She's just fat. There are other people who have had RA for years and who have been on prednisone who aren't fat.
She just doesn't care. It's fine. There's no reason to make excuses for her.
You don't sound too smart for someone with "30 years in the medical field."
@@ampa4989 you obviously have no clue about RA drugs. Stay in your own lane, little ignorant one. Ask a grown up to explain it to you.
A great talent on film AND stage equally who brought a distinctive, captivating and gorgeous presence to every role she ever undertook. It’s unfortunate she has had to endure very scary health conditions that were written off as boozing. But it was the arthritic condition and she just drank.
My favorite Kathleen turner movie is serial mom. Lmfao
Hello Whitney 😊
What a woman!!! Remarcable honesty
Love her voice. An underrated talent
underrated? She was huge in the 80s.
@@angelicearthling true that she was huge in the 80's just felt like wasn't given any good recognition for her acting. She was more based on her sex appeal and her sultry voice. To this day when I hear that she's in anything I watch it. Love her in "Crimes of Passion " and "Serial Mom".
@@candyperfumeboi76 yeah true, I see what you mean. She's a great actress.
I suffer from the same illness. My body isn't the same anymore.

Shes awesome, "I changed, I aged, my body is not bodyheat anymore, so get over it!
She still has that pretty smile.
She’s a very natural women always liked her - and nobody is perfect
Hello Jane😊
she's still smart and beautiful and above all real ..beat wishes may gos heal u ASAP
“I’ve changed, get over it!” - I love that!
Ok, but this woman was so denigrating of the women involved in all of the Bill Clinton scandals. He was being accused of rape, harassment, adultery, etc. And her comment was that he deserved higher quality women.
The main thing I remember about Kathleen Turner was an interview at the peek of her career where she said something to this effect:
*I don't need fans...I made me!* I never much liked her after that. Without fans...you are virtually no one!
Agree with you on that. What a strange thing for an actor to say.
Did you see her say it? Or did you hear about it?
@@adorable3817 You know, it was so long ago...I don't remember if I saw it in an interview or where I heard it, but this was during the time of Romancing the Stone (loved that movie) and I just remember being shocked at that and not liking her after hearing it.
@@LifesPeachy321 it's amazing how much something like thst effects our image of that star.
I saw Ellen Degenerous (sp?) many years ago being interviewed by Jay Leno - she was arrogant, mean, condescending and rude - I was in shock!
Still the world worshipped her....
Not at all surprised to hear the recent aligations about her.
@@adorable3817 She was definitely able to fake it for quite awhile! I see it now, but I didn't see it before!
Turner was really, really full of herself back in the late 80s after she made it big. I met her a few times. Lots of reporters said she was one of the worst, as in most unpleasant, actors they ever interviewed. BUT -- with her health issues, and substance abuse battles, she has become far more grounded and aged into the blowsy old dame you see today, sort of like Ava Gardner in her later years. I always loved her as an actress, but a nice person, or even real, she wasn't - again, back in the day. I think she has evolved rather nicely in fact
"Serial Mom" was her best role! Classic! =)
I love her she is Beauitful a true soul .
Thank you Ms Turner for putting a smile on our faces
I admire women who deal with all the misfortunes of life and still live their life. And she had some misfortunes. Body heat is still one of my most favorite film noir. And the line: "You aren' too smart, are you? I like that in a man," is an absolute classic. And so is she.
She was AWESOME in Serial Mom !!
That husky voice is a classic!! Love it!!
My favorite Kathleen Turner movie...The War of the Roses, she's amazing!!!
Her best role was Serial Mom.

My mom and I went to New York and she happened to be starring on Broadway in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf? We bought tickets on the spot. Had to be one of her greatest roles!
katypratt I would've loved to see her in that! I read an interview of her talking about being in it and she was so excited to play that role.
