A beautiful tune. I've been married for 40 years now. We've seen Yes about 20 times together. We sing these songs to each other almost every day. They're all love songs. To each other and our consciousness. Just love each other.
Gosh I love this piece of music so much and it was so fun to watch you react to it. "That's a nice poetic beginning" yes... YES indeed. Yeah your face during the "Last Stanza" (The Apocalypse) was priceless.
Love this song, but haven’t heard this original version in a long time. Got used to hearing Chris on harmonica during middle break. You guys are a lovely couple, uncannily similar to a couple in our filmmaking group we often game with. When I started dating my 2nd wife, some 22 yrs ago, I took her to a Yes concert. Her reaction was: “Why are you just now introducing me to this band?!!” She loved them, and a couple years ago we took our daughter to see Yes, and meet them backstage.
Hey Nathan and Jana. And You And I is considered to be one of the many masterpieces of YES. Definitely a crowd favorite in concert. One of Jon's favorites and always wants the band to get it right at shows. Just an incredible song and I love it. Enjoy!
These videos crack me up. Been married for 20 years and still try to get the wife to like my music… seeing the silly grin as the dude knows a good moment is coming up gets me every time because it’s the same silly grin I have in similar situations thinking-“she’s going to love this part”… I mean how can’t you really.
Always been a rock fan from the Beatles to Zeppelin. In the late sixties I got a copy of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" and "Disreali Gears" which led into a phase of psychedelic rock then progressive rock with Tull, Yes, Pink Floyd and Emerson, Lake and Palmer. What a long strange trip the last 50+ years have been.
Yes is the BEST! Live, recorded, it doesn’t matter. Yes - the name is positive. I’ve heard this song a thousand times, still get goosebumps. Nobody is better.
90125 came out when I was 16. That was my first real exposure to Yes, especially thru the videos on MTV. It was the first Yes album I ever bought. The second I ever bought was Classic Yes. After hearing And You And I, Yours Is No Disgrace and Starship Trooper I absolutely had to hear more Yes. That was the beginning of a 35+ year love affair with this band. Glad Jana enjoyed this song. It is definitely an essential in the Yes catalog.
I’m assuming your name is Nathan lol. This fell into my recommended, looks like Nathan knows a lot about Yes, excited to see what other videos you guys have.
Been on 6 out of 7 Cruises to the Edge. My seventh is scheduled for May 2022. I missed one due to a medical problem. Dragged my wife with me on 2 of them. I met so many other like minded good friends that she no longer accompanies me and I have never had a problem finding cabin mates. Nathan, you will LOVE it. Jana, the massages are superb.
That was lovely. As far as influences go, I'm pretty sure country legend Chet Atkins was a huge influence on Steve Howe's guitar playing when he first started.
"I feel like I've heard that melody before." That's probably the common thing Yes reaction videos have to say. Yes has this way of producing themes and melodies that feel very familiar.
I love it too! Heart of the Sunrise is definitely on our list. But, the list is getting quite long! There are so many things I want to get to but we've committed to letting the shuffle decide when we react to each song.
There are many accessible yes tracks. I think more so than most other bands in the genre. Also, I appreciate a prog guy having who's next on the wall. I've always felt the who were very progressive, more so than people who are considered their peers. John Entwistle is my favorite musician, with chris squire just behind.
It's hard to hear an album like _Quadrophenia_ and ignore the Who's obvious prog bona fides. It's probably because they already had an image and vibe before the prog scene took off, and they didn't fit in with the British public school crowd that made up much of the progressive demographic.
For introductory Yes songs try Awaken, Starship Trooper, Siberian Kahtru, Machine Messiah, Yours is No Disgrace, South Side of the Sky Long Distance Runaround/Fish, A Venture, Perpetual Change, Heart of the Sunrise, Hey, here's a few great albums to listen chase down too.... Steve Hillage (Fish Rising) , Captain Beyond (Captain Beyond) Spirit (12 Dreams of Dr Sardonicus) .... Don't forget there's always Jethro Tull, Caravan, Hawkwind, Genesis, Gentle Giant amongst many others....
: settling in to watch: Oh, I love this song. I do hope Jana enjoys it. Thank goodness it wasn't actually Close To The Edge. I think that truly needs to be worked up to, IMO.
@@NathanOnShuffle YES, IS A GOOD ONE, BUT FOR ME, FALLING SATELLITES IS MY FAVORITE, BECAUSE IT HAVE THE FIRST SONG THAT I HEARD OF THIS BAND: NUMBERS.... THAT SONG BLOW MY HEAD 💥💥💥
Jana, a lovely reaction, thank you. This song is a favourite of mine, Wonderous Stories is a shorter, melodic song from Yes I hope you get round to. ☺️ Nathan, can I suggest three additions to the list for the shuffle it's possible that neither of you have heard which would be an interesting reaction? 1. Pendragon - If I Were The Wind 2. Arena - Solomon 3. Mostly Autumn - Heroes Never Die Enjoy ☺️
Although the length would probably put the reaction at one of the absolute longest for Jana, I seriously hope Wondrous Stories is done segueing in to Awaken, the way they comprise side 2 of Going For The One. To me, while not musically similar, I believe they are tied thematically and tell a complete story of a seeker's spiritual journey. I know even Yes played them separately live, but for me, they must always be played together.
@@IllumeEltanin 100% agree if you have the lyrics handy and can take the meaning in whilst listening but for a first time exposure I'd be happy just to see them both reacted to ☺️
@@IllumeEltanin That is a great suggestion and I will definitely consider it! As long as Jana isn’t thrown off by the length 😂 (I’m sure she’ll be fine with it). I just have to pace out the epics a bit for Jana’s sake ☺️
Prog rock = Symphonic rock. To me anyway, classically structured,it cannot be described as anything else. My daughter calls the genre “chaotic beauty” One description among many.
Is Duel With the Devil by Transatlantic on your playlist at all? If not I'd suggest it. It's probably my favorite song of theirs and you already did Stranger In Your Soul.
Being a huge prog fan myself, I thought that I would bring some levity for you two. What are wives and girlfriends called when their husbands and boyfriends take them to a prog concert???? Answer: Hostages.
Guys.... If Jana likes "And You And I" you simply MUST see this incredible live version from 2003. It will give her a chance to see what the guys look like, albeit as old men in 2003. But all the original members reunited for this concert including legendary Rick Wakeman tickling his magic keys. It was also getting near to the last performance of the late, great Chris Squire. It is also good to know that singer Jon Anderson wrote this song for his wife to celebrate how they are true soulmates and never do anything without one another. A great vid to see... ua-cam.com/video/-jctij-uBUQ/v-deo.html
Does your list have much modern prog? Something like "Crystallize" or "Falling Back to Earth" by Haken or "Psychopomp" by Thank You Scientist? I'd at least recommend "Crystallize" on the list; it's gorgeous.
Excellent suggestions, those are two of my favorite bands! I have some Haken on my list already, but I don’t think I have Crystalize, so I’ll add that one as well as the Thank You Scientist track. Thanks!
Jana and Nathan, that melody line is somewhat similar to this music that Yes guitarist Steve Howe improvises on as a tribute to Les Paul here: ua-cam.com/video/LZz9UFqNPxk/v-deo.html
And you and I climb, Crossing the shapes of the morning. And you and I reach, Over the sun for the river. And you and I climb, Clearer towards the movement. And you and I called, Over valleys of endless seas...🤔

This would have to be definitely in my top 5 Yes songs. The entire track is wonderful.
Greetings from Oregon. My wife has a t shirt and I. One says and her and I the other says and him and I. You 2 are adorable. Thanks.

Another Gem from this Masterpiece of an Album.

I love And you And I by Yes.
One of the best songs from one of the best bands!
I had to subscribe and comment. I ask reactors over and over to react to this song. It's my favorite Yes song.
That was lovely.
As far as influences go, I'm pretty sure country legend Chet Atkins was a huge influence on Steve Howe's guitar playing when he first started.
Illume, no doubt you've seen the footage of Steve playing with Les Paul. That was special ☺️
Yes is my favorite group. Complex and very difficult to play

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but this song is where Joss Wheedon got the name of his production company from 😉😊
Thanks for pointing out that little tidbit 😊😊😊
It's a classic! And there's a reason for it! And there is more to come. :)

When Moon Safari made their first album this was the only track by Yes that Simon had heard. He had also heard nothing by Genesis.
That’s really interesting!
Their logo and most of their album covers were done by an artist named Roger Dean.
Betcha she'd like Shoot High Aim Low
off of Big Generator album also by Yes

I know more than a few women who love prog whose husbands don't.
That's a very, very rare breed. Fans of prog are about 80 percent male.
Next up: Introducing my wife to "Van der graaf generator".....not a good idea😅
I prefer the live version off Yes songs
