Been meaning to ask this for a while. How in the world are your backs and knees not completely shot? You gotta have a secret because just watching you guys bend and kneel all day makes me have to go get cortisone shots.
Healthy living haha it’s all about how you live during the off season. Thanks for watching
@@GunpowderandFreedom yep. meat and veggies. keeps the inflammation down
@@GunpowderandFreedom finishing the new house in Goff season?
@GunpowderandFreedom its called being atheletic as well, i would have to say that your crew is the only crew that could hang w mine. on yt "jk: (as far as sports go) *but on a real note* growing up being atheletic does help in being a concrete guy! happy new year buddy. much support from indy
@GunpowderandFreedom and grabbing a regualr 12 foot screed board and getting it flat w just 1 guy is pretty damn impressive
you have a very loyal fan base bro. 3k views and 1k are likes. that is 1 like out of every 3 views. unbelievable ratio brother
Thanks Bob we had a crazy week
Y'all did a great job with what y'all ran into with that garage floor. The room below it would make a nice man cave.
We agree!
That was a huge project. Looks fantastic! Hope you made some $! Forget about it.
Coved concrete along the wall in that garage would be nicer than MDF base trim. Never seen a garage trimmed along the floor like that.
Nice to see the suspended slab project wrapping up. It turned out very nice and I am sure the homeowner will be happy to get their garage back. Will you guys be pulling out all of your cribbing from below?
yeah dont forget that $1000 worth of 2x4's under there!!
Yes, but not for a long time
Wonder why so many people want such small steps leading to the patio. I'd want a 2 foot step down.
I could never do this kind of work. Concrete just isn't for me but I like to watch and learn alittle something about it. Great job guys. I loved the garage surprise job. I've never heard of a room under a residential garage. Lol That'd be my 2 week notice right off the bat.
Glad you enjoyed it
I know you’re not a finish carpenter. But you may want to know that MDF isn’t the best choice when coming into contact with concrete. I would have gone with PVC trim or at least pine. MDF sucks up water and expands. Even moisture from the concrete will cause it to do that
Sounds good we just replaced with what they already had
Great job on both the patio and the garage. That garage kicked your butt but you handled as a true professional. My only concern is with the choice of baseboard - MDF and water don't play well together, and the garage will probably see water. At a minimum I would have went with wood, or at a higher expense flexible vinyl
Happy New Year !
Congratulations Tom, excellent jobs and team’s attitude.
I want to give you a suggestion, print on a T’Shirt one of your favorite common saying :
“Time to get a sip of coffee”
adding
“With the Hauses”.
Hope you’ll like it.
I like it. Thanks.
I have seen one to many people injured by the angle grinder to not feel pain watching people use them one handed and with no cover nor handle.
You are right, self leveling can be very tricky without experience. The slightest slope or hole & it just keeps running.
A damp rag over your finger tip works wonders on latex caulk.
Glad you didn't use silicone, I would have given you a hard time. It doesn't last or bond like urethane.
BTW, when you gonna get a few square nosed shovels for the guys? 😅
Great job like usual Tom & crew.
A belated Happy New Year from snowy Mn!
Thanks happy new year to you
Happy New Year! Appreciate and really enjoy the content. You have a real professional crew .
This question is a bit off topic. As a professional contractor who spends a lot of time on his feet, do you have a preferred workboot/footwear that you'd recommend? Thank you in advance.
I am liking Cat steel toe
Not sure if youve shown this closely before but ive been watching for a while now and havent seen it.. i can guess what is done but can you show removing the edges/wood from around a porch step where you used the tieback wire.. just curious since the tie seems to go thru the front facing wood. Also I'm probably going to take you up on a tshirt swap.. im all for channels helping channels.
I can definitely show that. yes email the office we can work out the details
Hello, excellent job I had a question about the 2 steps. Why is a vibrator not used when doing the 2 steps? Not big enough area? I always thought a vibrator was supposed to be used on steps like this. Thank you, was just curious.
Exactly right just not big enough we sometimes use it or sometimes just tap with a hammer
Nice job as always…I have similar covered patio area off side of my shop in need of concrete. I’ve been pondering how to manage around the 6x6 posts. It’s a pole barn and post are dry fit so didn’t know if concrete should go around them or stop short. Just paranoid if I had to replace I would have to break up concrete around them but assume that’s not a big concern.
Sounds right
just watched some of your vids- nice work- interesting jobs, a great crew- a pleasure to watch you work
Glad you found us. Thanks.
If you poke a hole in the tube where plunger hits and spray WD 40 afterwards shouldn't have air bubbles in tube
I never heard that
Do you prefer the tracked buggy? I feel like it'll make just as much mess as a wheeled machine. If it's too wet it's too wet.
Tracked are the way to go
The patio pour took a lot of hauling, the power buggies sure are perfect for that. Yep, you need to get the brackets on them for the cover, having to drag a piece of plastic around is a pain. The patio finished out beautifully, I love the way y'all do the cuts and borders, that really gives broomed concrete a nice touch of class! Thanks for letting us see the all the finishing steps to that massive garage. I'll not ever forget how the room underneath was unknown! Sure did change the applications on the job, even having an engineer come to help, and using a type of concrete for the first time. Messing up TSH's schedule but you made it work. I'm sure that wasn't new to you. Y'all even did the baseboards, didn't see that coming, kudos guys, that's pretty awesome. As always today's video was fun and interesting. I hope 2023 brings many more great pours for TSH and us! I won't miss any of them! 👍👌❤🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you so much Keith. I enjoy every comment you make talk to you soon.
I see a hella fun leaf job waiting to happen....
What is the brand of caulking you used for the joints….. I got a garage floor just like that I am planning on working on this year.
Sica flex, self leveling
I have watched a few concrete laying companies lately but none of them are at you level of expertise.
Thanks
Could you give the name of caulk you used for crack cuts. I have them and want to fill mine in
Sika flex
Question for you. In ALL your years of concrete work, have you ever "lost" a job? Concrete set way to quick, too stiff, not enough help, too hot out, rain ruined a job, whatever. 2nd comment, MDF base trim setting on concrete? Sounds like a problem in a year or 3 waiting to happen. Did I not hear right? Will that job ever end?? I'm sure you've had enough of it. Like always, you and your guys always make this look so easy and I know it's not. You're just that smooth. Well done. I see you're up to almost 47,000 subscribers. NICE😁😁😁
We have had to tear concrete out because of rain years ago. There was a driveway that we did not get a good finish onto the pads and had to come out. You hate when it happens but it does happen. We took the MDF out so that’s what I put back in. It lasted 18 years, so hopefully this does too
@@Concretewiththehauses Thanks for the honesty and reply back. I will admit I'm surprised that the old trim was MDF. I was just curious. Have a nice day, Ron
You had some fun getting the original concrete out from under that corner chase next to the sink. Did you have to finish the new pour under the chase from inside the house or was there a floor framed out over it so it didn't need finishing?
No, just had to push under framing covered everything
You and your team do outstanding work. The homeowner didn't know about the room under the floor. The home inspector should have this on his report before this owner purchased the house
A sigh of relief, it's done. You can really tell that it's a stronger concrete buy the color. Very nice job. Learned alot. Great videos. Happy new year.
Yes! Thank you!
Great job, again. Why don't you make the steps larger? I would prefer to have a larger step when going in and out of the house. You might have hands full with something you are carrying or in the winter the wind might blow snow. I had a house that had a small step like that. The first time that I almost fell off the step was when I decided to make it larger.
I believe it was a 14 inch step. That’s a good size if we get too big, it takes away from the patio.
They should have put in an oil drain pit!! That would have been awesome.
For you or I yes
Damn. where do I find a contractor that cares as much as you guys do? Your attention to detail here is absolutely awesome. The job turned out amazing. Well done!
Thank you very much. There are a bunch of us out there.
Why do you caulk the saw cuts? Is this because of the floor drains?
I want to keep all the water and deicers out of the joints
What did the owners decide to do in the basement under garage and are your guys going to be any part of that??
Just leave it with a vapor barrier
Have you considered a battery caulking gun for those long runs? I have a body shop and finally broke down and got a Dewalt last year for windshield urethane. They’re super nice and you can turn them down really slow for nice smooth control. Looks good👍
That’s a nice idea. If we ever do it again I will look into that.
Looks great. My only disagreement with the pour is that the porch posts are imbedded into the concrete. I would have supported the porch roof and did the pour. After it was cured I would have reinstalled the support posts up on top of the concrete on metal lifers. Just my 2 cents
We do them both ways. I prefer this they go down to a footer that way if the patio needs to move a little it can.
Sika Flex for the best performance ! not a sponsored Ad
It’s good stuff
As usual " Attention to Detail " All the Best in 2023......
Thanks same to you
Both jobs are nicely done. Customers should be thrilled with the outcomes. Stay safe.
Thanks for watching Dave
@@Concretewiththehauses my pleasure.
Hello from Mount Pleasant, PA! Been following the garage project since the start. What a project!! Awesome to see it getting wrapped up. My only comment would have been to use a PVC trim board. That MDF can act like a sponge if moisture gets to it. Otherwise, awesome job and love your attention to detail. That back patio looks great too. That simple radius really makes it interesting.
We just replaced it with what they had originally it was still in good shape after 18 years
Is it ok to use fiberglass rebar in a pole barn 32x50
Yes talk to your local supplier
Doing that much calking a battery operated calking gun would be nice....
We usually don’t do caulking I’d say one more and I will buy one
@@Concretewiththehauses yea they or nice that's for sure
Concrete god father 😂

Another great job!. At our old place part of our deck was covered. Really miss it. Sit out their and watch the rain. Everything stayed much cleaner, and always stayed dry.
Happy New Year's
Very cool! Happy new year
This job is the most 50's looking best patio pore i had seen on your channel
It gives it ambience of an era look that is gone but not forgotten
A+ on this pore
Beautiful
This is for first house pore
Thanks
Tom, did you remove the temporary framing below the garage floor?
No, not yet
Like a painter. You make it a work of art. Back when I had to help pour concrete. Our buggies had wheels. Those tracks look awesome. God bless yall.
Thanks 👍

That floor must have cost a small fortune Tom.
Unfortunately, It did get pricey
You and your crew do some nice work Sir .
Thanks 👍
Very unusual to have a large open area beneath a slab like that for sure. There are some old houses in my town (early 1900's) that were built on a bluff next to a park. At least one was found with a 12-16 foot sub-basement underneath the basement floor that nobody knew about. Built that way as the hillside was close and the footings were deep. My own house sits on the edge of a steep ravine and has stepped footings that are deeper than the basement floor and the room in the back has the foundation walls going down about 4 feet deeper than the floor to compensate for the slope of the lot and fill that was there before. The garage floor is about 3 foot above the original grade and they filled it in. It has settled under the slab because it sounds hollow in places when running a steel floor jack over it.
From one mortor forker to another, great work.
Hey, thanks!
why are the steps at the doors so little
12 inch just didn’t wanna take up room of the patio. They may even be 14 inch.
Nice patio, why does the step look so narrow off the slider? 👍🇺🇸
Happy New Year to everyone. The homeowner has some super cool outdoor ceiling fans!
Thanks
Top notch craftsman ship!
Thank you very much
I cant imagine how much money those buggies have saved you over having to hire concrete pumps !!
Couldn’t even begin to guess
HAPPY NEW YEARS GANG!!!!!!! ANOTHER GREAT ONE TOM FROM THE CREW!!!!!!!!!GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!!!!!

GOATS of Concrete
Funny thanks
You do every job as if you were doing it on your own home. The best quality control is to have a boss that cares.
My guys are right there with me same attitude
That Sika Self-leveling joint filler can easily make a mess and run away like crazy if you have no experience with it.
But nice to see you have the experience, sir.
Nice job!😇
It gets messy, real fast
Great looking patio. That concrete looks stiff compared to some of the others that I’ve watched. Really wish I’d have seen your work a few years ago. I would have suggested some of your techniques to my builder. I notice you always use rebar and no mesh. What about fiber in the concrete?
Thanks
We always use fiber and rebar on driveways. We use all three.
Why do we pay so much for those air bubbles?
That was an easy one!
It’s about time
Have you seen Mike Rowe’s Dirty Jobs where he was at a concrete plant cleaning up the sludge that comes out of the empty trucks? Very interesting. Thanks for another great video. Happy New Year!
Did not see it yet. Thanks happy new year to you.

Try dipping your finger tip in denatured alcohol then smooth the caulk on the top of the baseboards..... perfect every time.
I have done that before. You are absolutely right.
nice
Thanks
Good morning from Pleasant Hills, PA. Happy New Year to you and your family. You always do a great job each and every time.
Happy new year!
I'm not one to normally comment on videos, but you and your guys are a rarity these days. I started in concrete over 20 years ago driving a ready-mix truck. I've seen and dealt with the first timers to the contractor that thinks they are the best and then finally to the contractor that is the best. You are in the top 5 of the best concrete contractors in my book. You know what you're doing and it shows, the attention to detail that is normally overlooked is one thing that sets you apart from the rest. It's the little things that can make the whole job easier. I would try and name the little things that I noticed that many miss but it would be a book lol. There is so much more going on when the cameras are off that is never mentioned but to the experienced, it is easy to see. A few of my favorite tips that I would like to share with you is not meant to say that you don't know what you are doing, just a little thing like mentioned earlier. When it comes to caulking I always run some frog tape on the wall and baseboard or whatever you are doing. I run the caulking and get it finished off, I then will pull the tape and there is a beautiful line and no cleanup in the event of some getting away from you. The self-leveling expansion joint filler is the best thing even for outside use. Again I found that it's easier to run whatever tape of your choosing on either side of what you are working on and then when you have the little puddling you can just pull the tape off at an angle away from the work area just after it skins over to get that very crisp uniformed line. Most people won't even notice but they will notice the puddle even though in reality it is fine. Yinz keep up the stellar work and congratulations on your success.
Thank you for the comment always looking for advice. Thank you very much.
Happy new year guys! Quick question, at around 11:00 you're starting the final cuts, does it matter if you start the cut on the corner of a post, or the middle of a post? Does starting it at the corner provide better predictability on where the cracks will start?
I believe it always wants to crack off the corners
Happy NewYear to you the family and crew from Melville Saskatchewan have a blessed year
Same to you!
Cant wait to see the final on the slab over basement pour!
About 28 days
Hello from Ross township! Thanks for the content! Tom, what's your opinion about DIY concrete for home owners? I'm a new home owner and a new father.. I'm trying my best to maintain my property with a mix of professional help and DIY. I have a few small concrete needs. Is this a category that I should tackle or leave to the pros?
Depending on how big of a project you’re talking, I am all for it. I offer some tools to help and assist you and also you could come out and help us do a pour for a little bit of training someday before your project email the office work out some details. Thanks. The only thing I ask in return is to give us a little bit of video footage.
@@Concretewiththehauses Great advice! I'm definitely going to take you up on visiting a pour with your team. I'm always looking for ways to learn more.

Beautiful weather for concrete. I hope all of you guys and your families had a wonderful holiday. My wife and I just stared at each other from across the room with disconcerted looks. Kidding.
Oh boy, lot of winter to go yet

Why not use a caulking gun for the baseboard
You definitely could

It is endless
Yes please do I m excited to see the end product. Great work on this. Interested to know how much more this cost the homeowner. From starting bid to final with the surprise.
