i never understood why you need to unlock things like the natural resources later on after building your city . . usually, cities spring up because of available ressources after all . .
@@stabilesteil looks like chiken farms has a little sheds in the fields - so I think devs will work in that directions. For me - the mining industry looks just wrong - a grey blob of nothingness, and you can't even see the terrain :D
Biffa the recycling centre was at 10 tonnes per month processing and when you lowered the budget it went to 2t, you had a city demand of 40t thats why you were still in the red for processing
12:23 I would suggest that you don't get the bridge to touch the ground but instead leave it elevated until the intersection, that way you can get to have a quay under it.
1:10 I suggest working on the land where the bridge is supposed to cross. Currently it is supposed to cross at pretty much the widest place on the river. Usually not where bridges would be built. So maybe extend the land on the other side to narrow the gap.
Not all countries and cities are cheap just saying, plus when he upgrands it to the grand bridge it will be the center piece of all the bridges and it will be well worth leaving it as is long bridges look better andmake for a better tourist attraction in real life. Look at the bridges made in the east some made for no reason

Fantastic idea on putting a road through the rock fields and adding a building. Probably going to do this with industries as well to give the fields detail and not just a sea of grey.
7:03 you should do both, a juction to the highway that also connects to the rest of the city so that people can go straight over without using the highway directly
I love your videos on SL2 because you don't just build, you explain what you are doing and why and it is really informative. When I get this game (hopefully) I will understand it a bit better.
woul be nice and a very simple yet big quality of life feature if they made it so that farmland automatically lined itself alongside the roads, other fields and buildings if they intersect with them when you place it.

Somehow I'm more excited to be doing industry in this game than pretty much anything else. Having the detailed supply chains actually be a factor in how you grow your city gives everything so much more meaning and purpose than in CS1.

It might look good to have a small gap between the farms where you can add trees or European style hedgerows to break up the farms for decoration. It's also provides wildlife habitat in real life.
I like how it all ties together, no point having Software Offices when you don't have enough educated people. You realy need to plan far ahead. Lookingforward when you Build your own "Tealycon" Valley.
Great video, as always :) I just found out the stone mine spawns a giant earth digger if you make the working area large enough! I love the detail of the roads you put through the stone mine, but I think I prefer the giant digger :P

I really hope they fix industry manipulation, so when you raise/lower taxes (even offer a subsidy) that it impacts industry more, so you have a city build around a specific industry similar to how most cities start out - Forestry or Farming!! Cant wait to see more! The base game we had for CS1 was really good. To think this is the base game, what's it going to be like when we have our first few DLC's and Mods added... exciting times ahead!!

me too, If its gonna work good I'm buying the game. When I say good, I mean 30+ fps on 100k population with my Ryzen 5 5500 and RTX 4060 8gb or at Rtx 3060 ti and R7 5800x with medium settings on 1080. That's only afordable pc that I can buy and I'm trying to decide which configuration to buy for this game, if any of it can support the game 😂
I like the new setup for creating farms and other industries like the quarry. Being able to draw in fields that can be any shape is pretty cool. My PC needs a new graphics card at the very least. And that's not in the budget for... quite some time. So I'll be living vicariously through your vids for awhile. lol
I think Move It and Fine Road Tool need to be among the first mods to get created. Also, those farms do make it look kinda British... That overpass at the end needs a full interchange. A custom double parclo should do nicely.
I think if they could make it so oil and ore deposits needed to be discovered in game by prospectors, and oil always spawned at low elevation and ore spawned at more high elevation, and more deposits could be found after current deposits are depleted, I think it would make a great system and an alternative to straight up unlimited resources
29:40 - Imagine how much noise cars would make to trouble students. Also, all the polution that comes from the highway. It also looks dangerous, because people from outside can easily gain access to school and run away on the highway. I know these are not game stuff, but I'm just imaging it.
The way it chooses industry is interesting. Like you said the deficit plays a big role, but probably also the size of the lots. I think it takes a while with the taxes. If you lower the taxes, I think it does work but takes longer - like the existing industry of that type will be profitable and thus level up. They also spoke about an efficiency bonus when certain types of industry clump together. It was in the dev diaries but it sounds very advanced.
@@notseymour7955 it won't, they're just about right for each other. This game is also less likely to create CPU bottlenecks like the first game due to being more GPU-heavy rather than CPU-heavy. You'd have to have a pretty low end CPU to see that...
I watch a lot of ur vids and i love how City Skylines 2 is looking, but i am missing the animation of the build up of the houses and other buildings. I liked the animation in City Skylines 1 better than the cranes. :) Thnx for all your vids!!

I was thinking the same. It is as if the community decided to spend more money than necessary. Against all reason.

You should place a row of trees between the farm zones, to work as natural land dividers. This is also something you see a lot in the real world.

in city 1 i made culdesacs by putting in a small 2 way road, and at the end a little piece of bigger road, cars will turn arround at the end
I love the functionality of the tiny roads as the bottom of the hierarchy...as frontage roads and alleys.
