Seriously, there's no way anyone can dislike Tanahashi. He brings this earnest, hardworking talent every match he has. Still has one of the best frog splash on the scene after nearly 20 years!
As u know, before the tournament on July 17,2006, Brock Lesnar bailed on NJPW with IWGP heavy retained. However, since the day, Tana have changed & had responsibility to represent NJPW. Then it was also The Birth of ACE.

Been watching Tanahashi since he and Nakamura fought for the U-30 title at the Dome in 2005, and it’s been amazing to watch him go from a first time IWGP Heavyweight Champion that the crowd was reluctant to accept, to the beloved veteran and all time great he is today. What a ride! I gotta admit that when I first saw him and Nakamura I liked the latter a lot more (and that was back when he was still “Shy-suke” with next to no personality); Tanahashi just seemed very bland in the ring at first glance by comparison. But oh how wrong I was. Because the thing about Tana is that the more you love pro wrestling and appreciate the little things about it, the more you come to love Tanahashi, because hardly anybody else is as good at the little things as Tanahashi is. He’s everybody’s ideal opponent. He truly is the Ace.
Tanahashi is excellent at the selling game and that makes you care about the match and the stakes no matter who he's up against he'll make you look like a star.
are you me? at first i dont really fancy tanahashi with his goody 2 shoes personality but for some reason one day after he finish his match he'll cut a promo,do the guitar solo bit and shook every fan hands, the japanese fans loves him to the point want his sweat(this i never get but meh, maybe their culture to me its a bit eek),seeing his interaction with the fans the one that change my perspective of him, most of his matches are good too despite his injuries(i notice he walk awkwardly to the ring),he doesn't need to do 450s or burning hammers, dangerous backdrop suplexing etc to win the japanese fans.
abdiel miranda Normally I’d just link you to njpwworld.com, because you should pay and support them if you want to watch their wrestling, just like everybody else. But in this case New Japan actually uploaded the match to their UA-cam channel several years ago, so you can watch it for free legally. Here ya go ua-cam.com/video/CassXSU4OzQ/v-deo.html Edit: actually, scratch that! It appears that was just a retrospective video with the ending sequence of all of their matches up to that point. Looks like you have to sign up for NJPW World after all.
I have been watching wrestling for many many years now. In my eyes no one will ever come close to Tanahashi. He is what a wrestler should be, always gives everything till he has no more for his fans and makes sure everyone in the building gets their moneys worth. GO ACE
I'm new to Tanahashi. Been hearing more about him among AEW fans with the Forbidden Door being open. Not sure how but this video made me like him already, especially the snippets of his bout with his former mentor. I feel there's some incredible storytelling there. This dude keeps coming up in the GOAT conversations and ranks high on the PWI lists every year so I figure he's definitely worth checking out
From Antonio Inoki, Tatsumi Fujinami and Riki Chosu. To Keiji Mutoh, Masahiro Chono, Shinya Hashimoto. To Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shinsuke Nakamura and Katsuyori Shibata. Now, In my opinion, it's Kazuchika Okada, Tetsuya Naito, and Kota Ibushi. Keeping the Japanese Tradition and All of these Generations' Three Musketeers pour their hearts out to extend and redefine the competition in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
RenzAwesomeTV They’re not the three musketeers though. Ibushi was not in young lions system as Naito and Okada were. Plus, Naito was in he system before Okada joined.
i wanted Ibushi to be one of the new three musketeers, but it's already locked on to Omega, Okada and Naito. i remember Shibata in Ibushi as the lost sheep of NJPW. both didn't want to be tied to one promotion and wanted to wrestle wherever they wanted. that's why the G1 finals this year was more dramatic for me: the past ace accompanied by the lost sheep vs. the lost sheep accompanied by the future ace.
monotonedmika well it’s not omega or ibushi since the three musketeers are from njpw graduated dojo so it’s probably okada, naito and jay white and not omega and ibushi because they came from ddt
monotonedmika after this year’s G1, Tanahashi seems to want Ibushi for the future of NJPW. I heard.a statement about Ibushi that he is not homegrown son of New Japan but an adopted son
A huge part of why I got into NJPW was seeing Tanahashi in TNA. Also I got to see him live in NYC against Charlie Haas back around 2009 or 2010. I hope I can see him again someday.
I'd like to thank everyone working on putting these videos together - I've been a NJPW World subscriber for just over a year now and my only issue has been it would be nice to have dedicated video/documentary packages to help non-Japanese speakers get an insight into the fascinating story's and history behind the fantastic in ring action.
These are so great for fans to get up to date on the greats of New Japan who might be new to it or just not totally familiar. Even as someone who put in the work myself to learn everything this was so great and i managed to learn a few new things myself. Kevin Kelly is also a great choice for this.
The dude is a rock star in the ring he reminds me of All Might from My Hero Academia. He is they ultimate babyface that WWE wished they had and never will get
These are so great. Linking to the matches on New Japan World in the description would be cool. Getting English commentary for those matches would be game changing.
Omega isn't a New Japan Dojo graduate, he can't be a musketeer. There's Okada, Naito then honestly the closest other guy who qualifies is Jay White. The current WWE version would i guess be Strowman, Reigns and i;m not sure who the third guy would be. can't say i watch much WWE so don't know who they have at the top of the card who is homegrown. Also the Attitude era Musketeers would be Undertaker, The Rock and Mick Foley. Neither Stone Cold or HHH were homegrown with the WWF.
The three musketeers of attitude era is not question is The rock, Mankind and stone cold. Yeah I know stone cold isn't really WWE boy but stone cold been there for a long time, pretty its around the time with undertaker debut and stone stay there until he retired, so yeah, he deserve to be on the list.
As soon as he said Shinsuke Nakamura my jaw dropped I knew he was in Japan wrestling before wwe but I'm surprised three musketeers with great legends pretty sweet
@@novemberman1829 that is hating on Omega. Tanahashi has let it be known that he does not approve of Kenny's "lifestyle." Omega is the third musketeer, he is the reason that so many westerners are viewing the NWJP product right now.

I think the Three Musketeers during New Japan's dark period were Nagata, Tenzan, and Nakanishi( I would've said Koijima, but he left for All Japan during that time, and became a main eventer there).
