The story behind this song 'Something in the way' is interesting... producer Butch Vig and Kurt Cobain were working on tracking the song and Kurt was not happy w/ the sound. Frustrated, he lay down on the studio couch w/ an acoustic guitar in his arms and told Vig that it should sound like this... he started strumming on the guitar softly and singing in a whisper.
Vig immediately told him to hold up... he set up a mic next to Kurt, turned off all the lights and fans in the studio and tracked Kurt playing the song on the couch. And that was the track that made the 'Nevermind' album in 1991. Of course, the challenge was putting drums, bass and a cello on that track, since the timing was a little off... Kurt kept telling Dave Grohl (drums) to play softer on that song while recording.
No he’s talking about his experience being homeless after he dropped out of high school and living under a bridge
Do you weirdos just write fan fictions like this? lmao.
not true.
@@-scrim uhh.. yeah it is? ua-cam.com/video/APHX-9ZQ7x0/v-deo.html
@@jimmyjohnspizza3666Kurt never lived under a bridge...
My absolute favorite song by Nirvana 🤘
WOW....FIRST...... NEVER SEEN THIS ONE REACTED TO BEFORE and yes....Nirvana changed the rock scene so YES.....CATALOG WORTHY as much as anyone!!!
Agreed. One of my favourite Nirvana tunes, and I’ve NEVER seen anyone react to it.
Kurt wrote this song while he was homeless.
Catalog is worth going through.
Yeah there you go. Delve into the catalog!
Indeed catalog worthy.
The Bleach album may not get the notoriety that "Nevermind" does, but I assure you, there are some fantastic songs on there.
Paper cuts, swap meet, Floyd the barber, negative creep, downer and more
IT'S GREAT TO SEE PEOPLE TURNING THEIR EYES ON THIS TREASURE THAT IS NIRVANA
Epic Track in the “The Batman” Movie. The Nevermind Album is outstanding from start to finish. Kurt Cobain had an unbelievable vocal range!
‘Vulnerable’ is an EXCELLENT word to describe this tune.
Sounds like an Acid trip I had once in the 70s.
I like this reaction. You actually let it play Then react. Nice.
He knew what pitcher he was trying to paint in this song in the studio he kept telling them shu quite
Please do a catalogue review. These guys have so many great songs.
Just found this channel.. dude.. YES. Btw.. this is one of my all time favorite songs
Sounds good
Wow the sadness in Kurt’s voice. It sounds like death is coming!
Think of it like a book with pictures. Keep turning the pages. Kurt, like Lennon, was very much into imagery, painting with words. There may not be a specific meaning other than clever arrangement of words.
I gotta be honest. I don't know the name of one song from them. I'm sure I've heard songs from them. I'm just a hippie stuck in the '70s but I'm digging this song so far. I'm thinking the dude feels alone but the animals he's trapped have become his pets...maybe pets are people? I did notice that the picture of the baby actually had a little movement. Water bubbles floating up and the dollar was moving a bit.
You on it now bro…
You HAVE to understand something on this kinda shit...
THIS is how people my age FELT when this came out! Its like we'd waited for this band for 10 years to make this kinda stuff!
We (Gen X) were disconnected, disillusioned, and so used to feeling like that, that we weren't even pissed about it... we just kinda SAW how fucked things were that it was just SAD.
Now, it doesn't hit the same. Its a different time. But in that time, at THAT moment, something that low-key was like a siren telling most of us that we weren't crazy or alone.
I AM VENGEANCE
Every time I hear this song, I think of The batman
Please review Scorpions, might be good to dive into their catalog. Songs, Still loving you and No one like you, would be good songs just to begin with. Amazing guitar riffs and vocals. Just how you like it! I heard them on the radio today coming home from work and thought they would be good for your show.
I feel like you have to reach a low point to write such compelling lyrics thar evoke this much emotion...you can tell it came from the depths of his soul
no surprise that he killed himself, something was blocking his happiness
How do you not know the sound of an acoustic guitar? Yet make reaction videos without having the ear for such simple sounds.
hey dawg, I saw skip these fools
the tunes do not hold up & lyrically he just made stuff up at last minute, is what he says.
plus all the Hollywood drama.
Personally I don’t want to hear these people sing about anything.
I loved it when it came out, saw them play in utero tour, not really memorable.
Obviously their tunes do hold up...and some lyrics yes , he made up last minute because the sound/music was #1 to him. But most of his songs lyrics do have meaning. You seem like a super negative person. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean others shouldn't give their music a chance🙄
fool
it doesn’t hold up
the sound is a put on, aping sh!t.
framing a critique as negative is pretty effn weak... nirvana is pretty famous for a pretense of negativity.
they pretty much made it cool to be negative FOOL.
way cooler music to listen to by real people not celebrity types like Kurt & Dave
@@emilybrooke3095 For real. Most of Nirvana's music is better than the pure garbage that passes for music these days.
Hey to each their own but you can’t say their songs don’t hold up. The band broke up after Kurt’s death in 1994. Yet they still have kids in the 2000s & 2010s wearing their t-shirts and listening to their music. They have an iconic status like Biggie & Tupac have that transcends generations because of their contributions to their music genre and pop culture as a whole.
@@jacjr6193 They might not have been the greatest grunge band technically, but they absolutely had everything to do with making it popular and made mainstream culture aware of the genre. Personally I love all their stuff from the grittiness of bleach to the wildness of in utero. An all time great band that as you said has transcended generations
