As a blind person, the description has really indicated what the movie could be like. I hope when it's released on DVD/BD, it will have a good audio description track.

Based on the footage we’ve seen so far and Fede’s clear admiration for the lore of this series and practical work, I think this has huge potential to be the third best Alien movie, not that the bar is super high. The only things I’m not 100% sold on yet are the characters and story. I don’t want Romulus to feel like a cheap slasher with disposable humans. I want to care about at least a few of them.
I hear you while I did like the last Alien I felt it suffered from that quite a bit. The deaths were brutal but I couldn't tell you the names if half the people there. Even Star Trek Red Shirts could get more respect than that.
Agree. Having the crew as 20+ Gen zee'ers has me worried.
I thought Prometheus and Covenant were okay-ish, but heavily flawed. Too many questions and not enough answers. Plus Ridley forgot how to write intelligent characters and showed the xenos way too much.

this basically confirms, that the xenomorph in question is not Big Chap, but from the trailer the asteroid-like object still very much resembles a cocoon that Chap may have encased itself in, my ultimate guess is the source of the genome they use to recreate facehuggers is indeed from the remains of the first alien, however i dont expect much screentime with it, if any, maybe like a footage the crew finds or a flashback

Hoping the movie begins similarly to Alien 3 with those quick, fragmented scenes. They could show Big Chap's retrieval and lead into what follows that way. It'd be a great continuation of Alien.
Been saying this ever since the trailer dropped. While the Xeno look similar to Chap, it is vastly different. It's a pretty good guess that they use Chap as a way to create new xenos.
You were right, big chap didn't have much screen time really.
Very cool I remember in Alien vs Predator Extinction when the xenomorphs would first pop out of a host they'd quickly turn into a cacoon followed by massive sounds of things exploding and slime to indicate the cacoon has hatched. Getting to see this feet on the screen should be all kinds of creepy.
My concern after all the leaks, is that this is just a film full of references and memberberries instead of being a serious film standing on it's own and adding to the Alien's story and lore. Great to keep the texture, tempo and feeling, but there is no need of filling it up with every reference from all the movies before! no need of that if the execution of the story is properly and originally done. We will see.

Jesus Christ people like you use memberberries cluelessly. if that’s the case Aliens is nothing but memberberries it literally has the same theme of Alien and makes multiple references to the original. Same with A3 and AR. You can pay your respects to the original AS YOU SHOULD when you are making films in a continuity franchise. This film will be a breath of fresh air and bring multiple new things to the franchise while also paying homage to the original, key word homage and not memberberries. Y’all watch south park once and throw that term around at any film that pays respects to the original. Just remember when that term came about, from South Park, it was because of the new Star Wars and that movie was mediocre at best because it literally didn’t try to do anything new it just relied on nonstop cringy scenes to drive the plot forward. This movie will be its own thing while having a few Easter eggs and nuggets for fans of old, there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact as a fan you look forward to that just like how LOTR, Harry Potter, all the big franchises utilize this. Anyways I hate how that term is so loosely thrown around these days.

Physical models and maquettes for CGI references are nothing new and remain fairly commonplace in the industry.
@@JetPackFlame yep, I feel like them incorporating both practical and digital is the best method rather than completely CGI. I think many people know by watching many completely cgi characters and creatures by now that, with no practical, tactile version that it seems too synthetic and doesnt match the environment well. Hard surface stuff like ships and interior elements can be easily implemented into a scene compared to something organic.
Was already looking forward to this but after that description I'm even more than hyped. I really hope it does well
The more I hear from this film the better it gets! And the promise now to FINALLY see how a tiny chestburster become a full adult Xeno warrior - even if we see only the beginning of it - is about bloody time! Why no one has done this before in all these decades is honestly baffling.
It was likely left out due to Pacing of the Movie, the same reason for the Egg Morph being left out.
The interesting thing is Alvarez said he wished to respect the original Movies Pace as far as Xenomorph Gestation etc...... and so between getting Face Hugged and Chest Bursted they will be on the Station or Shuttle Ship for 12+ Hours
One thing that stood out to me with the original alien was how realistic & natural the dialogue and people were. I don’t know if this was just the time period or what? Maybe a mixture of the actors and writing itself. You could say the same thing about jaws and the original Dawn of the Dead.
I think a lot of it comes down to the life experience of the actors. Many of them had other jobs before becoming actors and therefore had a lot more character to fall back on. Whereas a lot of modern young actors have totally different personalities and life experiences that make them a lot less compelling.
The best way to stick to the lore of alien is to basically respect gigers designs .the bottom line is that he was deeply involved in the alien movie as he personally loved the project. At the end of the day in ridley scotts alien, giger not only designed the original alien xenomorph he came to shepperton studios to help build it . Also giger designed and helped build the alien planet of LB 426, he also designed and helped to construct the derelict , he designed the space jockey and he also helped with its construction as well by paint spraying the jockey enitirely by himself .. And he ordered the bringing in of actual bones from an abbatoir by for design of the derelict interior . We hope tbat alvarez is respectful of gigers alien designs and its shown in this movie .
So the film’s regurgitation of the same scenes and footage from previous previews and discussions only means that this film might not only be the sleeper hit of the summer but the entire cinematic Year!

I would recommend being "carefully excited".
I'd recommend minimizing expectations. Nowadays, don't bother going beyond *casual curiosity* unless it's something you're 99% positive will be amazing. Alien films aren't exactly in that realm of certainty.

Fede REALLY sounds like a fan and supporter of practical effects and I am all for that. CGI is great to add colour of detail, but doesn't need to be everywhere and everything in a film
Surprised the Alien lifecycle is so fast!
I hope they went home school special affects via man in a suit vs cgi and puppet work. Some puppet work is ok and so is a little bit of cgi but it's more believable to do these aliens with a man in a suit and quick camera shots like the first one.

I don't trust ANY cyborg or synthetic carefully holding the black goo. Look what happened with David when he got his hands on the black goo.

I'd say more like 60-70, I wasn't keen on this movie at first, because it's got DEI written all over it. However, Fede's Evil Dead is the most intense horror film I've ever seen, and Don't Breathe is also quite tense.
No matter what, I think this movie will be better anything after Aliens, and possibly even Alien itself. I don't say that lightly either.
We'll just have to wait and see, this is the first time I've looked forward to an American film in years.

This film uses mostly Practical Effects instead of CGI same as Prey
Hopefully they will use the model as much as possible but the CGI for action/destruction/etc. From what I have read they are doing as much practical work as they can.

Great job I am really looking forward to this. This this is my go to film for the rest of the year.
I am just hoping that Big Chap molts into a queen, escapes the space station in an escape pod and lands on a planet to build a hive. Happy ending and potential for a new sequel.
Only thing i would maybe argue is that Navarro might actually be in a relationship with Isabella Merced's character just given Merced's reactions to Wu's death in the small glimpses we've had
One thing I will say.
That fall off the platform we have seen in the trailer, is absolutely horrific in and of itself! (Without even factoring in the Aliens!)

I am thinking the same thing.
Since the failure of Alien Covenant, Disney-Fox should have hired Neill Blomkamp to make Alien 5 reboot (direct sequel to Aliens 1979 & Aliens 1986 ignoring bad sequels & hopefully ignoring Ridley Scott's bad alien prequels) and It would have worked
But NO, Instead of doing that, these greedy Film studios chose this Fede Alvarez (the man who produced a bad Texas chainsaw massacre reboot noone asked for and it wasn't well received).
They hired him to direct Alien Romulus taking place between Alien 1979 & Aliens 1986 which makes no sense. What's the point of this? These characters (teenagers or early 20s) are going to be killed off. Noone survives.

So it sort of makes more sense now, they pop in, have a look, wake up the face huggers, have an experience, make it back to the ship, and through a series of misfortunes cause explosions and crash into a landing bay, with one of those red portals stopping air loss. Then its a escape movie.
I think he should be allowed to make an alien isolation movie next if this is as good as I hope it will be, and then possibly a third (maybe a prequel showing David’s story ending and tying the whole franchise together) would be cool and he seems like the right person to do these movies if he wants to do more..
What everyone forgets is that the space jockey is still sitting fossilized in the derelict. It is at least 30ft tall judging by the scene in Alien and has nothing to do with Scott's 8ft humanoid 'engineers' from Prometheus.
I guess we're never going to explore it's origin....
Or it is retconned, the engineer in prometheus has the same suit as the space jockey

In the trailer the supposed bigchap cocoon looked also a litte bit like an oversized xeno ovomorph may be a little bit asteroidish

I've seen too much of the alien movies to be surprised or satisfied by small tweaks here and there, just give me one scene where something unexpected happens that (for me) turns everything I thought that I knew totally on its head.
What could that be?
Something showing us that the Alien is actually far more intelligent than we have been led to believe so far.

If Fox/Disney executives had any “brains” they would crawl to Blomkamp with a bag full of money and beg him to make his ALIENS sequel film after Romulus and get a second win.

Hey Mr. H , GREAT content as usual sir... thank you for the videos pertaining to Alien and all things in the "universe" of alien.. just watched this vid and wanted to remind you of couple things.. I don't see how there can only be ONE alien , as there is evidence of multiple facehuggers attaching to people , still we have that one seen where it looks to be we see the face hugger pulling off of a face , you see the tube coming out of the mouth /throat haha ... never really heard you speak of this part... the title has a major clue as in , only one alien , as it's called Alien ....singular .. however this one doesn't hold much Merritt as both AVP there is more than one alien , suppose though one could argue they aren't cannon however , resurrection is alien and not aliens ... strange huh ?? The last points I wanna remind you incase you over looked it.. in the previous teaser , you seen a crew of masked and suited up adults.. bringing in that comet ... half space rock.. which I guess is the big chap ... now we see a xeno that looks like big chap where the steam is coming off it... and that's entirely different than the xeno we see at the end with the inner jaw coming out at spainey ??? So there's at least 2 if not 3 xenos .. lastly , we haven't been talking about one of the posters floating around .. no pun intended .. where it shows a xeno reaching towards a baby and looks to be carved in stone with planets above... I wonder if this is just hype or something to it.. as we had a wierd poster back for covenant where there was all xenos and engineers together .... and had nothing to do with the movie..... either way ... just wondered your thoughts , if you have any towards this and last , have you noticed , in the scene. Last trailer (full) red room with the embryo containing the facehuggers , the initial shot , to the right side , it's the only one , looks like the front of a xeno sticking through.... just wondered if you missed this .. as always thanks for all the great videos.. looking forward to getting another romulus vid from you soon hopefully....
"Xenomorph child." Cringe, and exactly what I'd expect Ash to say a la "son of Kane." Either the author knowingly made this Alien/Ash reference (bravo), or, on the other hand, has been so conditioned to avoid being canceled that they went with what they thought would be the least controversial choice of words.
There were plenty of Xenomorph children on the planet David was marooned on.

I wish they would've rebooted this series showing more on what went wrong on the first juggernaut ship with the engineer on the chair but I am looking forward to seeing Romulus.
We almost ended up getting exactly that, a while back. But then rewrites happened, studio interference happened, and some other BS happened. The end result was Prometheus. 🤷♂️

Looks like i nailed it... i had guessed we were finally gonna be able to witness how a chestburster becomes a full adult alien.
This sounds really good. I'm looking forward to seeing the creatures and new evolutions of them. It sounds like Fede really appreciates the lore of the Alien and wants to present it in a more visceral and horrifying way. Hope to see a banger of a headbite kill in this.

Here's a better Alien reboot script:
You don't even involve Weyland Yutani. Film involves a group of researchers on a planet, coming across a zeno-morph egg (and maybe evidence of a previous alien attack on a ship, that's not discovered till the 3rd act) write an original group of characters, no more girl boss stand-ins, no more ripley rip-offs, no android, just a new team of regular people, researchers on a new planet looking for alien life. Think more along the lines of the cast of "The Thing', write an alien movie closer to that. They find an egg, evidence of evolved inteligent aliend life, and want to celebrate discovery of another species on this planet, see that its still alive, and some sort of hibernation process, they secure it in a lab, monitor it, and celebrate. Following day, they find that its hatched, and someone (we don't know who) was incapacitated by the face hugger at night, they find some evidence of that, but everyone is accounted for and seems fine (whoever the victim was, doesn't remember), so the team doesn't exactly know WHAT came out, if it was stolen by a member of the team, or just ran off and died.
So you have the movie build up suspense on WHO the chest burster victim is going to be, have a few mis-directs, as some of the researchers are ill, a woman that is pregnant and has morning sickness, and have a few fake outs on who's gonna pop, when and where, as the team descends into in-fighting over suspicion that one of them maybe have taken the hatchling for themselves for profit, or that it simply escaped and they lost their chance at a groundbreaking discovery. There is just SO MUCH potential in creating a great sci-fi, psychological horror / thriller, that builds up to a proper alien horror ending.
Start it out as a thriller, and then, horror with the chest burster and the crew descend sinto panic and hysteria, maybe thinking its an irborn virus that's infected more than one of them, so they they have to suspect eachother of all being infected or sick.
Then have the 3rd act reveal of the proper xenomorph after its hibernated, with it acting more as a horror monster, with them not having any proper weapons or guns to fight it, or combat skills, just regular researchers trying to run and hide from a monster. The survivors eventually abandoning their research facility as the alien hunts and kills off most of them, as it works slowly, with it in no haste to really kill them off in one single day, it comes and goes, almost like its only killing them or taking them as it needs (for a later twist),
The last survivors coming across a crashed ship, and realization that the alien is more of a hostile parasite that came to the planet on the crash landed ship. (or whatever spin you wanna take on the 3rd act reveal) but maybe introduce a way for the surivivor to be able to send out a mayday signal or escape. Lots of options here, they can even find some of the previous victims in a cocooned stated, awaiting the hatching of even more eggs.

'Aliens' is my favourite film of all time (and 'Alien' isn't so bad either!), but Hollywood has destroyed so many of my favourite franchises over recent years that I just refuse to watch anything 'new' for fear of it ruining everything that's gone before.
