yep, termina feels more like mature drama, the 1st part is more of a cosmic horror, also it's the first impression, i was really scared of chasing dogs, that mad barking sound, also this piano thing when a guard notices you, this really sorowful soundtrack with a feeling of being lost and helplessness. now it's all gone but that was a fun experience
Honestly so many people mention supereyepatchwolfs covering of it originally, but I first saw it from a video from wormgirl first and I actually prefer her telling of the story personally :) not to say either is bad, both are fantastic :)
Absolutely agree! Her, Frapollo and Mauthe Doog where the ones who brought it to the spotlight, alongside Neco the Sergal. When SEW launched his video, F&H already had a huge fanbase and covering.
I wish I mentioned Worm Girl. Both her lore videos are great. There’s a lot of great funger UA-cam channels, but SuperEyepatchWolf is the reason I even discovered the game to begin with. So I feel like he deserves at least a little credit lol
I love the Lore of Fear and hunger, its all very well written, but at the same time super mysterious and a lot of left up to the players interpretation. I really dislike how unfair the first game is, its actually not fun to play at all, ive given it a proper shot and despite completing a couple of endings it was way more tedious than the 2nd game, as it relies way too heavily on RNG. The 2nd game on the other hand is almost perfection as a sequal. The gameplay is a lot better, the world is a lot more interesting, as are the characters and lore we are introduced to. You also dont have to know anything about the first game to enjoy the 2nd game, which is a massive bonus. If you are interested in trying the games, you should, but id definetly give the 2nd game a try, it is way more polished and friendlier than the first.
The last time I got genuinely afraid was skinimarink. I know people clown on it for being extremely slow with little going on visually, but it's made to take advantage of a very specific fear that I happen to have felt super intensely as a kid. That being said, f&h is fucking goated and creeps me out to no end

What i like about this game is that it's one of those games that knowledge is probably the most powerfull tool you can have, both in the game's context where you can't level up but can learn new skills but also for the player playing it, knowing the possible rooms, how the stats works, what limbs to cut off and etc makes you more overpowered than any weapon you can have.
saying russia finds everything is underrated i only found this game and its accompanying youtubers by getting reccomended a russian youtube channel and finding it in his old videos
I want to mention that the zuldim video essay on fear and hunger was also super influential on building the community before the super eye patch wolf vid

Alone in the Dark (2024) made me jump and become even more paranoid on the newly added New Game+ difficulty. Why? The developers decided to screw with you even more on that mode making it feel like a fresh experience as my prior knowledge was no longer reliable. The difficulty with horror media is making it just as scary (or scary or even terrifying at all) after the first experience.
I cant think of another title that stressed me out as much (in a good way lol). It's hard to recommend because of the list of trigger warnings for folks but it's always cool when I get the "HOLY SHIT" message when someone does try it and gets super into it. Only sucks when people equate appreciating certain media with condoning everything in it
These games don't shy away from the ugly sides of life and humanity. Like it's not just one or two terrifying things, like the RPG Maker horror game Wadanohara, the whole thing is gory and grim.

@Matt-td8xw I don't really worship Hotline Miami, but I like Ruiner because of soundtrack and visual style. And o my God, I love source games. TF2, half-life, cry of fear(love this one), Garry's mod. In fact, I started playing them because my pc was too weak to start the newer games. But even now, when my pc can boot cyberpunk 2077, I keep playing source and indie games.
The issue with rag is his starting stats don't really matter once you get some good gear and marksmanship is his only redeeming quality, where as Cahara has the steal ability letting you get the penance armor early on in the game, he can get dash instantly, lock picking saves red vials. Darce can get leg guards, and fast stance, enki can get some very op spells early game. Compared to everyone else Rag seems op but those higher stats and the ability to kill enemies outside of combat when you can just not fight them is a new player trap
Yeah... no, i like Ragnvaldr as much as the next guy buy his only good skill is Marksman, the other 2 are either useless or straight up harms you. Even Enki that can learn only 2 skills that barelly even aid in combat is more usefull than Rag's.

Which I personally find as a disadvantage. Kiting enemies with horizontal and vertical movements felt easier. Might just be me.
