    The cuttlefish snack is Korean
    Tao Kah Noi is Thai
    The Blueberry Mochi is from a Chinese company but yeah originates fron Japan so yeah
    Pocky is Japanese
    Pork Floss is chinese
    Black Sesame pudding is from Taiwan
    MAybe it would have been more accurate to say Asian Snacks...

    • @BayviewFinch
      @BayviewFinch 8 років тому +13

      +acexkeikai And the mochi in this video clearly says on the package that it's Taiwanese. You would also never see mochi that looks like that in Japan.

      Several correction:
      Black Sesame pudding is common among Chinese speaking area. The one shown in the video is from Hong Kong
      Mochi is indeed mostly a Japanese food. The one shown in the video is from Taiwan, and is a... derived version of Japanese mochi.
      Pork floss is mostly Taiwan (and some areas of Chinese). However pork products from Taiwan (and Chinese? I am not 100% sure) are not allowed to be imported to US currently, so the one they had in the video is more likely produced in US.

    The first one is Korean, the third one is Thai, the fourth one is Taiwanese, the sixth one I don't know where it's from but not Japan since the package is in Chinese, the seventh one is from Hong Kong. Get your facts straight, only the matcha stuff is Japanese, others are from other parts of Asia.
    And also, black sesame pudding is not pudding, it's soup, which is my favorite dessert..

  • @MelodiousRhyme

  • @laughloud90
    @laughloud90 8 років тому +15

    The cuttlefish snack is from Korea. The seaweed is a famous Thai snack, although Japanese eat seaweed but it's totally different from the Tao Kae Noi's. The mochi is not the traditional authentic Japanese mochi. The pork floss is originated from China, not Japan. The black sesame pudding is a Chinese version and is also totally different from Japanese version of pudding. Only 2 out of 7 are from Japan. Facts, please get your facts right before you post a video so that you won't misteach your subscribers.

  • @yokoakimura
    @yokoakimura 8 років тому +27

    I know people have mentioned it to some extent already, but... only two of the snacks in the video are Japanese.
    While a lot of these flavors and snacks are common across the East Asian region, there are a lot of different countries' brands and snacks displayed here (Korea, China, Thai, maybe some others). Maybe a quick fix would just be to change the title to "Irish People Taste Test Asian Snacks"?
    The reactions are fair, especially with all of the really unfamiliar (to Ireland) flavors involved... It's just... wildly inaccurate. By a large margin, too.

      +TheRestlessVagabond You can literally get anything you want as far as snacks go, I mean as long as you have access to the internet you have access to infinitely better snacks, like especially Pocky, I like matcha Pocky but I have never heard of a place that has the matcha flavor without the original chocolate flavor right next to it. Also if there is an Asian food market then they also have much better selection.

    Most of the snacks aren't from Japan.
    The cuttlefish snack is from Korea
    Tae Kae Noi is from thailand
    The mochi is from china, although probably taste similar like japan one. but the filling is rarely jelly in japan.
    Pork Floss is from china
    Black sesame dessert is from china also
    Are you sure this is popular in japan? Though pocky and colon are confirmed popular in japan.

Also, they could not pronounce the 'ur' in urchin. (Understandably, of course, as the ər vowel sound doesn't exist in their language, but... We had fun trying for a good thirty minutes.)
      All around, though, these snacks weren't a very good selection. They have such a-frickin-mazing snacks there.I feel they aren't adequately sampled here.

    I think this channel should reconsider its name and public image. In my opinion, my critique is not cultural sensitivity; this is cultural accuracy. There's a strong line between: researching "Facts." before publicly reviewing a product that represents a country vs. being lazy through the act of generalizing and homogenizing a country and even a continent.

    • @kylie_kai_kai
      @kylie_kai_kai 8 років тому +3

      i guess that's completely understandable. no one is subjected, or expected to know everything about the world. i didnt consider that they are humans too that made a miniscule (to some), yet a massive mistake (to others). i suppose it being titled "Japanese" is easily forgiven... but the non-Japanese music playing in the background... now that's a cringe factor x1000. whats's next? Memes of Jackie Chan in the background?
