The cuttlefish snack is Korean
Tao Kah Noi is Thai
The Blueberry Mochi is from a Chinese company but yeah originates fron Japan so yeah
Pocky is Japanese
Pork Floss is chinese
Black Sesame pudding is from Taiwan
MAybe it would have been more accurate to say Asian Snacks...
+acexkeikai And the mochi in this video clearly says on the package that it's Taiwanese. You would also never see mochi that looks like that in Japan.
too true
+acexkeikai true 👍🏻
Several correction:
Black Sesame pudding is common among Chinese speaking area. The one shown in the video is from Hong Kong
Mochi is indeed mostly a Japanese food. The one shown in the video is from Taiwan, and is a... derived version of Japanese mochi.
Pork floss is mostly Taiwan (and some areas of Chinese). However pork products from Taiwan (and Chinese? I am not 100% sure) are not allowed to be imported to US currently, so the one they had in the video is more likely produced in US.
They're Irish people from Ireland. Not American from the USA.
Sorry, but Tao Kah Noi is Thai snack!!! It's manufactured in Thailand!!
Agree, the tempura one is better.
+Mark Plott I am addicted to the tempura ones. I dip them in cottage cheese.... I am so weird, but it is sooooo good.
Even the name sounds Thai
+Candice Honeycutt exactly!! It literally means "small entrepreneur " in Thai!!!
Tao Kan Noi is popular in Indonesia and Vietnam too :)
its so strange to watch people be disgusted by food you have all the time and enjoy
I know same like I eat this almost every day
+tw11n gem11n11 Prolly the same with Kinbaku isn't it?
+tw11n gem11n11 I ate snacks like those when I was growing up. Now I feel weird as well.
+tw11n gem11n11 You're not Japanese though, right? Only 2 things in that video were from Japan.
+BayviewFinch yeah, they pretty much just got Asian snacks in general. plus, I grew up eating all of them bc I live in america and shop from Asian food stores where they just have everything
Was that Chinese music in the background, or am I culturally confused?
+ISHKA it's pretty chinese.
+ISHKA That's actually Japanese music. It similar but it has its distinct difference between them.
I dunoe about that, it doesn't sound japanese at all.
+Chris Middleton No it's not.
+Chris Middleton
You can hear the erhu when they cut to the black sesame paste. It's Chinese. The Japanese only have the Kokyu when it comes to bowed instruments and that audio doesn't sound close to it.
I'm not the only one to be thinking half of these aren't Japanese snacks ,eh?
Snacks can be found in Japan, they don't necessarily have to be Japanese.
+Dylen M By that logic, a lot of those snacks can be found as easily, if not more easily, in other countries. Who the heck in Japan eats black sesame dessert on a regular basis? What Japanese in their right mind would by that Taiwanese "fruit mochi"?
mua chi is half Chinese food actually
+pchenester More than half** only two of them are legit Japanese.
+pchenester yes! thank you for pointing it out! I live in japan and I have only seen like two of these....
_Maybe electronics is your thing._
Fantastic.
"Irish people test Casio FX's in the leaving cert".
9th doctor much? lol
+biribobili Except that only 2 out of 7 snacks were actually Japanese.
Electronics, food, fashion, and everything else.
Katya Lastovkina And tentacle porn.
The first one is Korean, the third one is Thai, the fourth one is Taiwanese, the sixth one I don't know where it's from but not Japan since the package is in Chinese, the seventh one is from Hong Kong. Get your facts straight, only the matcha stuff is Japanese, others are from other parts of Asia.
And also, black sesame pudding is not pudding, it's soup, which is my favorite dessert..
The mochi literally says "Taiwan dessert" on the package. Just change the title of the video
The cuttlefish snack is from Korea. The seaweed is a famous Thai snack, although Japanese eat seaweed but it's totally different from the Tao Kae Noi's. The mochi is not the traditional authentic Japanese mochi. The pork floss is originated from China, not Japan. The black sesame pudding is a Chinese version and is also totally different from Japanese version of pudding. Only 2 out of 7 are from Japan. Facts, please get your facts right before you post a video so that you won't misteach your subscribers.
I know people have mentioned it to some extent already, but... only two of the snacks in the video are Japanese.
While a lot of these flavors and snacks are common across the East Asian region, there are a lot of different countries' brands and snacks displayed here (Korea, China, Thai, maybe some others). Maybe a quick fix would just be to change the title to "Irish People Taste Test Asian Snacks"?
The reactions are fair, especially with all of the really unfamiliar (to Ireland) flavors involved... It's just... wildly inaccurate. By a large margin, too.
+Nadia Mohamed I tried that! Yeah, I'm sure they'll notice one way or another, considering the number of comments (and complaints...) they've gotten about it, haha.
+yokoakimura I'm sure they won't give a shit.
Hmm, yeah... Not all of those foods are Japanese, and the music is Chinese, so....
But they're getting their views and making their money, so why put effort into research and accuracy?
Stop being so PC and sensitive
KarlEuro89
I'm not doing that at all. I just think you like saying that because it makes you feel superior somehow.
+KarlEuro89 stop being so bigoted and heartless
+M. Strain Jr. Fictions
i agree there videos have been going down hill fast
"That was pulled from the belly buttons of the facts staff" OMG I'm dying!!! These videos are so funny!
1:07 It's not bad.. No.. Guy in background says "it's f****** rotten" 😂
This is hilarious! I love most of this stuff and this is basically my reaction to traditional Irish foods
I could think of dozens of snacks more suited for them to try than most of these. It's like you purposely cherry picked out the bad ones out of the thousands of good ones.
+chakrafiend It's called reactionary sensationalism and youtube is full of those videos.
+chakrafiend I'd be willing to bet their only access to these is through a custom's shop or Asian food market in town, which isn't going to have the selection you can imagine.
+TheRestlessVagabond You can literally get anything you want as far as snacks go, I mean as long as you have access to the internet you have access to infinitely better snacks, like especially Pocky, I like matcha Pocky but I have never heard of a place that has the matcha flavor without the original chocolate flavor right next to it. Also if there is an Asian food market then they also have much better selection.
Why would they give them tame nice foods? Would make for a boring ass video.
Lucy B Good tasting is not the same as tame. Japan has a TON of unique and interesting snacks and treats that are delicious.
Can't believe that guy just said maybe electronic is ur thing!? Wtf!? U just basically had 2 Japanese snacks, others aren't even related to Japan!!!
i don't blame you for being annoyed by that comment, it was super crass. i lauged, but i knew i was wrong.
+Lucy B but they are Irish not British. It's not the same thing.
Hahahahahahahha omg genius
+Lucy B IRELAND ISNT PART OF BRITAIN. NOT BRITISH HUMOUR.
look at what you've done! you girls have made lucy delete her comment to save face
Irish people taste test japanese snacks
*first snack is Korean*
Dude, none of the snacks are Japanese...only Pocky
I'm pretty much in love with the guy with silver hair. Send him to America for some weird snacks please.
Josi Craig In every video with him, women all say the same thing. I don't see it.
If you send him to Norway later;)
You look a bit like Gillian Anderson in your pic there
Most of the snacks aren't from Japan.
The cuttlefish snack is from Korea
Tae Kae Noi is from thailand
The mochi is from china, although probably taste similar like japan one. but the filling is rarely jelly in japan.
Pork Floss is from china
Black sesame dessert is from china also
Are you sure this is popular in japan? Though pocky and colon are confirmed popular in japan.
Shouldn't you guys check the fact first?
LOL.....Every time i watch these videos I laugh soooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like someone just went to an Asian store and bought whatever looked like it had Japanese lettering. Do your research next time guys
I love cuttlefish snacks. I grew used to the taste when I lived in Liverpool.
Irish people do an Irish listening exam. or a reading comprehension from a past paper. That'd be cool.
+Bobber434 Or Irish People Don't Drink Beer. Let's see that video.
+M. Strain Jr. Don't try me! I am a permantently sober Irish, English, Polish and Lithuanian woman! I have epilepsy!
epilepsy? What?
sapphirexwind Do u not know what epilepsy is? How stupid can you be
I think they are asking what epilepsy has to do with anything.
Awww bless them... Paddy and his partner were so optimistic and actually liked some
things, and Dermot was convinced the staff were taking the piss out of them. So funny. I do feel for you guys though... that pork floss stuff looked like fluffy dog food, lol.
This must have been made by someone who thinks all Asians are the same. When you give a snack that says "Made in Hong Kong" in a Japanese snack video, c'mon...
Ikr its so annoying my parents and whole family every time they see a Asian they assume there Chinese
I'm not even Japanese, and I actually love seaweed as a snack! I buy it from Trader Joe's by the box!
Purple hoodie dude is my fav, and probably the funniest, alongside leather-jacket cabbage guy.
The wavy haired lass is gorgeous.
I've been watching these videos and the like for a while. I wonder if the whole idea is to have a negative reaction, or are these real reactions. I know for a fact the American examples of snacks, sweets etc. are not realistic representations, so I am starting to question the whole process.
+Michelle Pechie BUTTHURT MUCH?
Guess asking a question is too much.
Michelle Pechie Where's the question in that whole fucking paragraph?
+Tiny Rick The question was is the intention only a negative reaction for comedic purposes. If so, I'll approach it as such and not take it so seriously. Not everyone is a troll. I was truly asking. Apparently a stupid question. By the way, I'm a big supporter of this site. That's why I only had the stones to ask on this one.
Michelle Pechie "THE QUESTION WAS IS THE INTENTION ONLY A NEGATIVE REACTION FOR COMEDIC PURPOSES" YOU ARE AN IDIOT MATE.
That seaweed is one of my favorite snacks.
That pork floss is something I can't live without when I'm sick. We add it to congee(?) basically rice with more water than normal. soupy but not really.
They should try the other Pocky flavors. I like the Matcha one but the others are mostly chocolate and very tasty.
The first time I came across pork floss it was served in a sweet bun with lettuce and mayo and it was called "flossy pig". Any time I visit the Asian grocery Pocky, seaweed and moochi seem to find their way home with me. It's always good to try new flavours but red bean and black sesame are my favourite for moochi.
They seemed to be _kinda_ disrespectful while tasting the snacks to me personally BUT that just *my* opinion lol Buzzfeed does it better, at least they're respectful with trying another cultures treats *shrugs*
Yeahh, i just wanted to give them some feedback on this particular video. I've seen some of their other videos and really enjoyed them (:
Buzzfeed are never ahahahaha pls tell me you are joking? Facts was great before non Irish people became aware and ruined it being social justice warriors.
like i said, it's _MY_ opinion lol it's okay if you disagree with me, you'll be okay. I promise lol
I see "SJW" is a term muthafuckers like to throw around if someone is sensitive to other people's feelings. I don't necessarily find that a bad thing, just because you call me an "SJW" doesn't mean I don't have a right to share my opinion, and it certainly doesn't give you the right to be an asshole XD So uh, chill out.
Fans like you (Faza or whatever the fuck) make the channel look xenophobic and not very inclusive. They obvious uploaded this video to the internet because they want people OTHER THAN IRISH people to see it. Where's your logic, bruh?
I have the seaweed stuff all the time. Love it.
Lovely video..but I highly suggest that you change "Japanese Snacks" to "Asian Snacks". There were Japanese, Korean, and Chinese snacks here...
You guys are so funny and fun to watch as you gag taste test! LMAO!
the first snack is actually korean....
i can read korean and japanese, so i am damn accurate.
+jellyjay yha and the pork one is popular in china too
+jellyjay I imagine they have similar snacks in Japan, though. My first day there, I had what my host translated into 'urchin' puffs. Not bad. Like cheetos, but weirder. Also, they could not pronounce the 'ur' in urchin. (Understandably, of course, as the ər vowel sound doesn't exist in their language, but... We had fun trying for a good thirty minutes.)
All around, though, these snacks weren't a very good selection. They have such a-frickin-mazing snacks there.I feel they aren't adequately sampled here.
+jellyjay Im Chinese. I lived in Japan. I live in korea now. Im American too. I can confirm.
jellyjay w e e b
The seaweed is like my favorite snack! So good!
"pulled from the belly buttons of the Facts staff"...awesome, but disturbing- Dermot!
People in Ireland actually eat dried seaweed too. it's called dulse and it's eaten in N Ireland mostly on the north coast!
Pocky and collon is really the Ohly Japanese snack here
this is literally all I've been waiting for 👌👌
that's like a mixture of Asian snacks not Japanese
Omg these by far are the best snacks I've ever eaten!!!
Bruh the seaweed isn't even Japanese
I've seen ones "made in Japan". I have some right now. Lol
+Jennifer Tatham I think seaweed can be found in many bodies of water all over the world. It isn't just a Japanese thing.
There, I said it. Now I feel really smart stating the obvious while misunderstanding your meaning.
+M. Strain Jr. I understand that seaweed is not only found in Japan, but the snack itself is in Chinese.
Jennifer Tatham
Yeah, I was just being stupid. =)
Personally, I don't know the difference between the Chinese and Japanese written language.
+Jennifer Tatham o ok
'those smell like a good night out', what a woefully under appreciated comment! 😂😂😂
Some of them had immature reactions .. I prefer the choice of people in other videos
+011KiKi "the japanese should stick to electronics".... SMH
+sh09un1 "maybe electronics is your thing" not quite the same as what you quoted
Ghost_Hands
you know what, your right... they both mean two completely different things. thank you for correcting me...
+011KiKi Lighten up will you.
+sh09un1 since you like people correcting you, "you're" and "your" are actually two completely different things
LOL that one person's reaction the black sesame pudding lol The one with the purple sweatshirt jacket thingy
Nadia Mohamed
ah thanks. :) I never know the ppl's names in these videos lol
While the video may not have been 100% accurate, as with all Facts videos it was very enjoyable. I am sure nothing malicious was meant by the titling of the video. Nor did I find anything inappropriate in their reactions. Different people have different reactions.
+goober No kidding it wasn't 100% accurate. It was 28.6% accurate, as only 2 things out of 7 were Japanese.
"that's fishy!"
"That smells like a good night out..."
LOL!!!
I think this channel should reconsider its name and public image. In my opinion, my critique is not cultural sensitivity; this is cultural accuracy. There's a strong line between: researching "Facts." before publicly reviewing a product that represents a country vs. being lazy through the act of generalizing and homogenizing a country and even a continent.
i guess that's completely understandable. no one is subjected, or expected to know everything about the world. i didnt consider that they are humans too that made a miniscule (to some), yet a massive mistake (to others). i suppose it being titled "Japanese" is easily forgiven... but the non-Japanese music playing in the background... now that's a cringe factor x1000. whats's next? Memes of Jackie Chan in the background?
Mind you most of these white people haven't gone out of their caves yet much understand what other culture is....The new group of participants are much more ignorant than the old group that started with Facts.
They're just reacting to how stuff tastes/looks. Stop being so sensitive.
@@DezDies you can show your reaction without being ignorant.....it's not about being sensitive it's about being appropriate.
In Australia everyone loves dried seaweed. Best school treat
Seaweed is bomb tho
the seaweed they used was made in thai
they make cuddlebone out of that fish for birds to sharpen their beaks on. my birds love it
And them's the facts
Wow... that black sesame pudding though. It reminds of a squid ink tapas I had once at a Spanish restaurant.
Anyone notice how a majority of the people getting offended from this video aren't even Asian? Has the world honestly become so pc that people get offended on other cultures behalf?
+Nadia Mohamed Hey we were talking on the last facts video too! How have you been Nadia?
Nadia Mohamed ah you know, hanging in there. I always watch them straight away as well, I'm going to try and keep this chat going over their future videos now :P
+Sean Murphy I am Asian and I'm extremely offended. Enough for you?
Louis Yu please myself and Nadia are having a conversation. You're rudeness offends me ;)
+Sean Murphy It's the Internet, go get a room if you want a private discussion without interruptions. Your racism offends me.
I had the seaweed crisps a couple of times and they are really nice. Though the spicy ones and the ones with shrimp flavour are better than the bland version.
(And yes, it's a Thai brand.. but they have that in Japan as well.)
make them try Arabic treats
Where did you's buy the seaweed? Been looking for big bags like that of it for ages.
"Asian snacks" might be a better term for them all.
Lol Mic-drops the Pocky.
I can't wait to do that. =D
Why is this channel called Facts? Is it cos they almost always get the facts wrong?
Do Peruvian food next please:
1) Chicha Morada
2) Mazamorra
3) Aji De Pollo
4) Causa Limena
5) Picarones
6) Anticuchos
+Joshua Orrillo Based on the fact that 5 of the 7 things in this video weren't from Japan, if they did a Peruvian food video, they'd probably mostly be trying Brazilian food or Chilean food.
JAPANESE SNACKS.
The first item is Chinese/Taiwanese...
then the second is Korean...
lol fxxkin none of these are Japanese.
+A.D. They're all the same
Having lived in Japan, never saw any of these being eaten regularly, some not at all. all of these brands are either Korean or Chinese, too. where's the kaki no tane, haichuu, flavored kit kats, senbei, etc.? Japanese tastes for snacks are usually salty or mildly sweet.
+Albin Lundholm
Yeah like German and French am I right. All those European countries are all the same.
Those cuttlefish snacks look pretty good!
They are quite tasty, specially with beer, which most of these snacks are for. I prefer the cuttlefish snacks that are savory rather than sweet.
+Mark Plott I am seriously going to have to try the cuttlefish/beer combo!
most of these items, not all . can be found in Japanese bars.
Those were not all Japanese snacks. Lol. The mochi and the pork floss looked Chinese. Half of the others were Thai.
+Revina Que The one dessert even said Taiwan dessert on it in English.
awww both my favorite Paddys!❤
that seaweed stuff is VILE
Come on! I love dried seaweed. I have the appetite of an old Japanese woman though.
+coolenaam lieeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss
+IHaveNoIdeaWhyGoogleLetsYourNameBeThisLongWaitItGetsLongerSeriouslyWhyAreYouStillReadingThis Lame idea for a Japanese horror movie there.
It tastes like marijuana smoke to be fucking honest lol
IHaveNoIdeaWhyGoogleLetsYourNameBeThisLongWaitItGetsLongerSeriouslyWhyAreYouStillReadingThis lol well tastes differ, it tastes absolutely rank to me
I know a lot of those things weren't Japanese, but I enjoy quite a few of them! (black sesame pudding, matcha anything, seaweed snacks, mochi...) So I'm a little sad they didn't enjoy the snacks. I do commend them for trying something new, though!
Should of called this video Irish People Taste Asian Snacks
I love the seaweed! It is my favorite snack to get at the Asian market by my house.
the cuttlefish is korean wow
3:20 not only electronics, but cars and motorcycles are also their thing. That's some damn fine engineering.
doesn't the guy in the purple jacket look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek?
+Nadia Mohamed well my comment should show my mental age.
He looks JUST like John Cusack
+Nadia Mohamed agree
I love reading the moronic comments of people who watch your videos so they have something to complain about. Well done Facts!
I've had chocolate Pocky! 🇯🇵🍫
+Irish Whovian Weeb!
So many amazing flavors my favorite is mango
+aaron trapp ... So u can't eat Japanese food now...
Edward Elric What?
+aaron trapp just because he ate pocky he's a weeb?
Mochi rice cakes are amazing!!!
6 hours? :o
love the guy with the grey hair and the guy with the LFC top. They're hilarious!
Ok but lets be honest, the Irish aren't exactly known for their food either. lol.
"That smells like a good night out" I'm dying hahaha
Oi Irish people try Indian food or snacks. : P
+R3DF4NG they better prepare it right though, lol. like, actually put pani in the pani puris/gol gappas XP
On a "croissant"!
when only two of the things are actually japanese snacks and the rest are either chinese or taiwanese snacks. and that chinese-ish music :/ kinda disappointed
I've had chocolate flavored Pockys before and they're amazing!
I'm sorry but none of the snacks are from Japan..........don't mislead people
Even the Collon is from Thai if you look carefully
It is a Japanese brand and it is common in Japan so I will give them that one.
Cati Liu That cream collon was made in Thailand and from Japan 😂
I LOOOVES me some Tao Kae Noi crispy seaweed. Their tempura seaweed is an especially good snack to have while drinking some beers.
come on! if you're gonna put japanese in the title, at least get some authentic snacks FROM japan.
you guys should do French desserts/pastries!!♡
+Diffy Based on how most of the stuff in this video isn't Japanese, if they did a French one, they'd probably mostly end up eating German foods.
What ?!?! Fruit Mochi is no Japanese sweets Hahahah. It's from Taiwan 😂😂😂😂 wtfff
its defiantly nice that you can find some of these snacks at your local 711
guys... Would you like it if Koreans made a video called "Koreans taste test Irish snacks" and proceed to have Koreans try Irish, Scottish, English, Welsh, Spanish, French, German, etc snacks?? wtf?? you say Japanese snacks and yet you have them try the least number of Japanese snacks... these are mostly Chinese snacks and some Koran snacks... you're also playing Chinese music in the background... wth is this bs??? If you're going to do something do it right for Pete's sake... you have no excuses.. you have something called google...
I wish these were longer
not japanese at all
+IAN HO it is thai, korean, taiwanese ,chinese ,I am sooooo disappointed
Strawberry pocky is the best tho. Oh and Paddy duo are so cute😍
Oh believe me. Japanese food is known around the world. Can't say the same thing with Irish tho. Plus, do some research instead of putting shit that's not even right. Your channel's credibility is zero.
Thank God Patrick is back!!!
This video is so wrong in so many level. BG music is more like Chinese traditional instrument music, Tao Kah Noi not even Japanese, everybody act like an a**hole (or maybe just Irish) and I feel offended and I'm not even Japanese or Thailand. This video is so bad I want to unsubscribe but I can't cause I love your channel.
I'm in the same boat. In the American burger video I did not recognize a single burger and I'm from America.
I have a feeling these people along with Buzzfeed and any other "people try ____" channels purposely give a slightly negative response to get more views.
mb100 It's not sensitivity, I just don't want a channel I like to devolve into dog shit.
"YOU ARE TAKIN THE *PISS*!" XD
Oh and that gag at 3:10 ctfu
Majority of their cast has REALLY big foreheads .. 🙄
