500GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
Dual Core i5 7th Gen Processor at 2.5Ghz
I love these sleek and solid working laptops. My company have these models for employees. They come in E5550 and 5580. I am using 5580 in the past 3 years for all engineering and document work and not a single system error ever happened. They are designed for business work so the performance is so solid and smooth. I develop script, run circuit simulation and all work related tasks. The battery runtime of 5580 seem forever. At full charge, battery give 16hrs in idle mode. At about 4lbs, they are great for mobile. I like the look of a beautifully sleek work laptop and very solid in your hand. I just bought the newer model for myself, 5590 coming with 8th gen I7 and quad cores. These laptop doesn't have the kind of modern sleek look of Dell XPS lines, you may think they are cheap but they are not. These are expensive.
Thank you bro im in your place now But looking for reviews on this product getting ready to purchase one preferably the I7E5880
Thanks for this. And that slot on the left side is a SIM card slot thats why the pin to remove option.
I saw on another youtube video that the little drawer that you couldn't identify (with the little pin-push to open hole) is actually for a SIM card so can install just like a phone.
Excellent start on the docking connector. This is exactly something I needed to know.
Thank you. Wish Dell would've made a simple video showing their product. Doesn't take much.
I was thinking about picking this on up form a pawn shop. Not a super hard computer user, I just want something that can surf the web and use onenote fairly well. Would you still suggest picking this laptop up for $250?
Nice overview
Just ordered one of these for my boss with the 512 NVMe 2280 M.2 drive. Bet this thing is going to smoke from the speed.
I think they removed the E because it's kind of redundant. E probably stands for Enterprise and all Latitudes are enterprise/business laptops anyway. Also the snap-in docks are being replaced by USB-C docks, although that port needs to be Thunderbolt 3 enabled to make it a completely functional replacement. I think the 5580 and 5590 only has DisplayPort over USB-C currently and not power delivery, which means that if you have to unplug the dock and an AC adapter each time you undock.
is the usb c thunderbolt 3?
Thanks for comparison with previous model. I was choosing between them and there's really not much info about the new model. What you missed, however, is the inside part. Is it easy to change memory, ssd and what is the battery? Will be waiting for the next video from you about that!
It is very easy to change memory hard drive and battery. Simply unscrew the bottom cover and it's all right there, just gotta remove a few screws.
This DELL Latitude 5480 i7 7820HQ very cool. Often the temperature reaches 100 degrees and is often trotting.

That's a sim card slot !
What kind of battery life did you get with that HQ processor? I have a E5450 with a i7 5600u, but find I need more cores for VMs.
How is this laptop keeping up after years of usage? Thinking of buying from Latitude series.
at 2:15 the little thing right there is to put a sim card so u can use internet instead of buying the whole hotspot device.
Thanks for the video. There is really nothing out their about it.
Thinking about getting one. Did you face any issues so far?
You're welcome glad I could help! I'm actually using a 5580 to type this and so far we have had no issues *knock on wood*. We've been using USB 3.0 port replicators instead of the traditional docking stations so that's been a bit of a learning curve for us and users but other than that they've been great. Biggest highlights are the improved screens - better resolution and viewing angles, and battery life has been good as well. There is also a touch screen version as well if that peeks your interest at all.
Thanks again for taking time to make the video and answer my question. Going to order one today. But its going to be a non-touch version. I need good battery life without making it heavier :)
Of course! Happy to help. If you want to dramatically increase battery life and slightly decrease weight, purchase one with a solid state hard drive. This will also increase the speed of the computer greatly, and is definitely worth the cost.
hey Casey, thanks for the review. I have one question regarding the display. notebook check and laptop mag claim it is dim or full compared to the e5570... what is your opinion comparing them side by side? and the keyboard?
sorry, I meant dull, not full🤓
please help me choose 1 of 2: dell latitude e5580 i7 vs thinkpad t470 i7. My use is to do programming, open 2-3 heavy softwares at the same time and many chome tabs, sometimes using photoshop. i don't play game. please advise me. thanks
Thanks for your review. How is battery life for doing office tasks like MS Word, Excel and Internet. I had a bad experience with the screen color of Latitue E6420. How about this one. Thanks again
The battery life is great! I can easily go 6 hours or so with normal use of the programs you mentioned.
HI, I have also the 5580 and already lost the sd card slot dummy, if you have still the notebook can you tell me please the part number that is on the plastik of the sd card plastic? As I can't find it anywhere.
Slot at 5:55 admits SIM CARDS, if the laptop is inscalled a SIM network card, it will allow the cell phone to connect through 4G o LTE network, getting data as a cellphone would.
So it is touch screen? Is it only for certain tasks or for everything?
❤
The speakers are under the laptop? how can you hear them?
Aa i wanna know about keyboard backlight
How to turn on them?
The port you are not sure of is a SIM card adapter
Does the Latitude 5580 lighter than E5570 , how it feel when you taking by hand?
Doesn't feel much if any lighter than the 5570, but I think it feels better when taking it by hand due to the redesigned outter shell
Hello, is the screen as good as the e5570?
Is it the same brightness? What is the brand's screen, AUO?
The E5570 has a 768p screen which is worse than this one, all in all the 5580 is better.
How to connect E5580 laptop to USB Type C Dock WB15
Hey, can I ask how big dis the battery life for one charge? Thanks
Hi!
It is the GDDR5 or the DD3 version 940MX?
This model has the integrated Intel 620 graphics not the 940MX. You can configure it with the 940MX though I'm pretty sure, although I'm not sure of the RAM it utilizes.
Casey Mills oh i see, thanks!
It's GDDR5 940MX. At least mine has a GDDR5 on it.
nice, thanks!
what about the battery life?
feels like the video was shot with the XPS 13/15 nose-cam :P
thanks
