That's such a great question. We have a network of ponds to help store and manage water for the farm (and raise fish). We're trying to maintain a diverse amount of vegetables, herbs, and fruit to use for the homestead. And we're raising birds (geese, duck, chickens) as the animal component. We use the growth from the pond to feed the birds, and use the fertilizer from the bird coop to fertilize the garden. We're still amateurs and learning. Our percentages of each area (pond, birds, garden) are probably off to consider ourselves true practitioners of khok nong na, but we're doing this with the goal of being as self sustainable as possible.
