They don’t *carry* them, doesn’t mean they can’t *use* them. Probably a “expecting a fight” restriction.
So uncivilized...
"Jedi do not carry blasters" seems to be only the first half, followed by "they pick them up off the floor and throw them away when they're done"
He still didn’t carry a blaster there, he’d lost his lightsaber and if he didn’t take Grievous’ blaster from the floor, he would have died.
Obi wan gets called out for being kind of a hypocrite- “Um... Times change.?”

"I said they were uncivilized. I never said I didn't know how to use them."
@@samsonguy10k Quiqly down under
@@diktatoralexander88 Quigley Down Under indeed. A fine film. I rather enjoy that line as it is a lesson to never overspecialize. One can be an expert in a specific weapon, but you do not make it your only focus. You will not always have it with you.
Another reason to appreciate the finer details in Star Wars Rebels. While it is granted that Jedi do learn martial arts in their studies, Kanan didn't have that luxury as he found himself alone at such a young age. And yet it is shown he is quite adept as an adult. There is one person he would have learned from. The love of his life, as she showed repeatedly how masterful she is with her hands.
@@samsonguy10k Jedi do learn markmanship in their training, it's the only way to explain Obi-wans and Anakins natural talent for using blasters.
The lightsaber is obviously the peace keeping symbol of the galaxy and is their main focus weapon.
Also there is no way they're gonna let Jedi be the generals of a blaster armed army without teaching them how those weapons work.
@@diktatoralexander88 That was part of the issue with jedi leading clones aside from being inexperienced in battle strategy. Plenty of them understand surface level how to use a blaster. They can pursue the knowledge but it's not common for jedi to do so. The only reason a jedi is better than your average user is due to their foresight and ability to forsee the shot before they take it. Similarly to Anakin as a child, inexperienced in piloting a starship being able to fly a fighter through a Separatist carrier and destroying it. A non-force sensitive would be incapable of beating a force sensitive in saber combat unless trained to counter the ability.

Yeah, I was disappointed that arc wasn't animated
Anakin is the quiet kid in the cornern fantasizing about his shooting rampage.
I have a hunch that Obi-Wan thinks blasters are primitive and uncivilized because he’s a ridiculously good shot, and therefore thinks they’re too simple and easy to use.
If only jedi relied more on the force than their lightsaber, they wouldn't need those embarrassing name of a weapon called blasters. They would be as formidable as the sith with in terms of force skills but alas they were always nerfed in the movies and TV shows. The only piece of media that did justice to them was the old republic cut scenes
@@nuskyahmad6375 There are plenty of great novels with superb depiction of Jedi. It's just hard to depict on screen how every second gets processed through the Force.
Anyway, if we already talk about the best piece of media, I'd say Knights of the Old Republic II is unparalleled in terms of depicting Jedi and Sith. But I agree some SWTOR cutscenes are phenomenal when it comes to showing good Jedi and Sith fights, tho seeing that in shows and films... idk, a bit messy. Too much CGI and that.

Well, they are op with lightsabers, they are even more op with blasters, they don't want to make things unfair
Plus they don't train to deflect blaster bolts with other blaster bolts, and don't want to rely on ammo. They probably could do both, but they didn't want to.
Jedi don't train to be accurate so the force grants them extreme skill with a blaster.
While they weren't formally trained with blasters, I would expect most Jedi would seek some form of training on them.
I believe Jedi weren't allowed to carry blasters because it didn't follow their "peacekeeper" ways. In an era of advanced long distance weapons, the lightsaber was a defensive weapon first. At the point of being shot at, it's safe to say you could take what measures you need to defend yourself or others. So under the circumstance, your defensive weapon can now become offensive.
As some Jedi began to figure out that it's difficult to be a peacekeeper while in the middle of a war, they became lax on the ideals of not using blasters. The Mandalorians using slugthrowers during the Mandalorian-Jedi War also weighted in on the use of blasters over sabers in some situations.

Obi-Wan: said Jedi don’t carry a blaster, not that I didn’t know how to use one.
I think Ezra and Kanan had the right idea- Jedi with a blaster in one hand and saber in the other (Or an incredible combo apparently nobody but Ezra ever thought of) is the way to go! At the very least, Jedi generals should’ve had a sidearm, if not for themselves, at least to hand to prisoners or disarmed comrades in times of need.
Hell, it’s not impossible a very focused and behind cover Jedi could force control dozens of blasters at once, though I suppose seeing the fight would be easier, annnd then they’d be less able to focus anyway.
Besides the usefulness, I feel like the “peace and mercy” ideals of the Jedi would at least call for a permanently stun-set blaster or something. Trying to stun someone with a saber is gonna cost a few limbs at least…
Like Assault Marines from the adeptus astartes (40k) wielding both bolt pistol and chainsword, but WAYYY less gruesome or xenophobic?
I always thought that stun was into use as often is because they have a range of effectiveness and a range of danger

And he asked if Jedi carried blasters.
And I said no. Ya know, like a liar.
*insert I understood that reference meme here*
Anyone else read this is John Mulaney’s voice?
There's a difference between carrying and "just borrowing".
Obi-wan: Blasters, Well no account for taste is there?
Also Obi-wan: **Quickscopes death watch super commando mid air**
If Anakin carried blasters he wouldn’t of turned into Darth Vader because he would’ve brought the Clone Wars to an end in the first week it started.
Clone Wars: 📚
Clone Wars if Anakin had a gun: 📃
*wouldn't HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fact that Anakin shot in and whooped everyone out with BLASTERS makes me love him even more
All those time they either picked it up, not what I would call carrying, or undercover
Whoever designed that scene of Anakin in the corridor was a fan of the movie "Equilibrium" his gestures were taken almost shot for shot from a scene in that film.
Good movie. And it's called Gun Kata
Perhaps it is something called…character growth?
“I..couldn’t pick a blaster, but after years I..I now can! I can put my hand in one...and... pick it up!”
How is that character growth and how do 167 people agree?
thats not character growth, this video is a meme, you are an idiot
@@blamass6708 I don't agree with him
I just think his comment is funny
There is no growth .... theres as much growth as if I said "That person can't get up from his chair" and then he did.
It's not growth it's a contradiction from a throwaway line that was stupid in retrospect which doesn't detract from the series but is without a doubt a mistake.
"Jedi don't carry blasters....
but gosh dang are we good at using them"
Glocks really saved Obi-Wan's ass so much in the war
"Jedi carry blasters, but they have to complain about it."
I swear Kanan used it more than that?
EvilSnips
He did. It was cut for time.
Oh okay then, that is what I suspected.
yeah he used it like all the time
:)
#IfOnlyTimeWasSimpler
I love this style of animation anakin literally slid across the floor without moving a muscle
1:03 the funniest part about this is cut, when the alien leader turns the corner, sees all his men are dead and the first thing he says is “Impressive, Jedi!”
What is that from lol? It almost looks like an old game or something
@@mechengr1731 An unfinished episode.
And then Anakin proceeds to tear him apart with his and Obi-Wan’s sabers.
I think that guy lost his Kenobis in the midst of it
I'm glad they did season 7 but I'm so sad they didnt animate these episodes
Who knows, if we get lucky and KK doesn't get her contract renewed Filoni may do a season 8 with all the cut episodes as a sort of anthology season.
They could be part of Bad Batch
@@Elchangito Nah, this is clone wars era, I see a season 8 anthology season coming out once KK has been removed from the picture.
At a guess they probably decided one of the protagonists using guns that heavily and with that much scene focus (compared to brief quick shots) risked being too "violent"? I can see it tbh, as cool as it is it's not very Jedi.
@@barty1995 I dont see it at all. This woudlve been after we saw ashoka and savage decapitate scores of people and witness people being chopped in half and the explicit mention of murdering children. Violence is NOT the issue. The not jedi thing makes sense
I love how Obi Wan is the only Jedi who hates blasters but is also the only Jedi who uses them 😂.
He's kinda like Batman. "It's too hard to cross that line?. No! God almighty, no. It'd be too damn easy."
I think for the official episodes and movies the important phrase here is “Context Matters”
