Formant is basically the resonant frequency of your voice box, and its the thing that gives us our unique voice (Well that and your accent which is usually subtly different from person to person). Generally speaking it doesnt change pitch that much but its the reason why basic pitchshifting creates chipmunks. The idea with this plugin is it pitch shifts the main frequency of the voice, but leaves the formant frequency alone creating a much more natural pitch shift. Of course the fact you can *change* that formant means you can do some really freaky stuff to voices.

Great video! One issue I’m having though is phasing/stereo separation. Whenever I change pitch or formant the mono vocal goes into stereo. Is this just me? Is there a work around?

Just turn the mono on in your mixer track!

Thanks mate! One thing I wonder is if the Pitch/formant changes will work steplessly when automated? When you're turning the knobs it sounds like the changes occur one half note at the time.

Yes! Totally, it's a stock plugin on Fl.
More specific its and configuration window inside of edison. That make the same.
ALL you need to do is open your sample on edison, then you Press Alt-t. Then the window will open with some parameters, the horizontal knob below the first one is the Formant that we looking for, the first that is up, is the pitch

What if I want to change the key/scale of a melody loop that I'm sampling? Any pitch shifting plugins for that, that also shows what key you're going to instead of just semitones or degrees? (Like the way it's done in Serato but as a stand alone feature)
You could use newtone in Fl studio to do that I think.
Serato sampler shows it in Keys instand of semitones ITS free to try on splice now
Perhaps Newtone (FL Studio) but you'll have to do it manually.
