Ok everyone, Lorde dropped literally sage-level wisdom in this interview, this is The Quote (about quitting social media):
"It was just sort of the experience of reading about the world all of the time. I felt like I didn't have time to decide how I felt about anything -- I would just be like, well what does everyone else think? And what I think would be a version of what everyone else thinks. Now I just give it a bit more time. But it's very difficult, and I truly only do it because [it would impede my artistic process.]"
She's laid a finger on the reason why social media in excess becomes a problem.
Lorde is a league of her own. So honored to witness her existence in this lifetime.

That's what I love about Lorde when it comes to getting rid of her social media. To her, it's never about HER, but it's about her art and her music. She's already beautiful. She doesn't need to show that to the world every day with selfies and sexy dresses. She's just herself. And for that, I find her more attractive than ever.

Cutting of social media and search engines is one of the highest form of bravery in this modern day world. Ella is such an inspiration not just in music but also in ways to live happier life. 💖 Also, I like how she went with the flow when James said something about the talent show. She disagreed and later on laughed it off. However, I feel like her mind is saying a lot of things. 😅
Search engines?. You do realise that that's how pupils and students revise and research nowadays?.. no more encyclopedias sitting on a shelf in your front room. I had to find medical papers, research results and case studies online for my dissertations and I needed Google's help...

But I would admit that even I am guilty of being so much dependent on Google for doing tasks like stretching exercises etc. Towards the end of my comment, I think you are right. You'll find true freedom once you learn not to get attached to people, places or things. Anything that is taking a hold of your time and your will power is worth getting rid off.

I remember there was a legitimate debate about how Google made us dumb because we don't retain knowledge anymore. Technology is useful and is an extension of humans nowadays. We're all cyborgs in a way, even though not physiologically modified.

haha a few months back I was so annoyed at how inaccurate they were that I actually began captioning my own videos and reaching out to other UA-camrs to see if they wanted similar because I'm surprised at how these were with the one where someone was talking about Helen Mirren giving them driving lessons
A lot of celebrities and artists wear colored specs to help them stay calm and reduce anxiety. Bono used to talk about this because he always wore colored glasses. Not sure if it was only to relax, but it does influence health.

That’s such an amazing interview. Lorde seems so bright and fulfilled with joy and happiness. It’s nice to see that spending some time or even take a break from social media does to all of us. When we are so used to this “looping” of social media and info, makes us extremely sick.

I'm about Lorde's age (maybe a year younger?) & deleted my socials for the same reasons. i'm glad such a public person is modeling this bc I can't recommend it highly enough. it gets easier with time, to the point where you don't miss it at all. ps love her shadesss

I had a dear friend, who is now passed, that was on the autism spectrum. He was utterly fascinated rather with anything map related. It was cool. Not funny. He would sketch these amazing, intricate fictional maps. He was not happy if he couldn't take regular long drives just because. His love for maps was one of his most endearing qualities.

I uninstalled the SM apps from my phone months ago and it has been truly freeing. UA-cam isn't social for ME as I'm not a famous entertainer, but I do waste time on it. As a working artist, it's imperative to put the phone down. She's inspiring me to do that right now.

this is sooo relatable. over the years social media has completely changed the way i think. i lost the ability to form my own opinion because i became accustomed to letting people on social media think for me. taking breaks from social media has helped A LOT. I’m no longer experiencing this
Month long or weekly breaks are good. I use apps to block my daily amount of time. Unfortunately i cannot find one that works on my ipad. My laptop i use cold turkey and my samsung i use stayfocused. I realllllllly love stayfocused and wish i could use it on all my devices.

I remember quitting all social media for a year or two (i have like a basic phone) and it was so liberating and refreshing not to compare your self and life to the posts or pictures your seeing in SocMed.
