let's be honest SHE is the best guest to come to this show .. interactive, genuine, witted, wings slayer, Da Bomb conqueror. Lorde did it all without breaking a sweat That's what happens when you find enjoyment in little things.
Agree, this interview and Paul Rudd are my favorites so far, and Lorde is a close second to Rachael Ray in the badassery category only because Rachael slammed a spoonful of each sauce, contrast with all the personifications of badness who tucked tail and waddled off like puppies. Fascinating.
One of the best for sure. Personally Shia Labeouf was my favorite. Lorde was great though. She took those wings better than anyone I've seen which was unexpected.
She totally flipped the script on that interview! By the end shawns like, "Really good question!" with his eyes red and watering while lorde is nodding her head listening to his answer straight faced. So badass...
What a class act. Not only does she remain as composed at the end as she is at the beginning, she actually asks Sean questions in return AND plugs Hot Ones when it's her turn to plug. That's what this show does to keep me coming back: get a more non-scripted, truer insight into people that otherwise might be written off or disregarded just because of their fame.
Yes! She was wonderful! I also loved how much respect she had for the sauces. She really took each one in and had a response for their flavors. I’m a hot sauce super fan and feel bummed that 99% of the guests don’t really seem to have an opinion on them aside from the heat factor. Lorde is rad!
I'm a casual listener of Lorde's and I've never seen any of her interviews, this being the first one, and watching this just made me adore her so much. I love the way she talks and I could also tell how humble and grounded she is even as a celebrity and I love that about her. Also, her spice tolerance? YESSS
They’re both such fantastic conversationalists imo. Men could learn a lot about how to treat women on dates from Sean lmao. So accommodating and patient, never pushes a guest, the guest is always in the driver’s seat. Really talented communicator. Edit: not to take anything away from lorde. You’re totally right she’s a really good conversationalist.
@@robotempire yes! There’s a lot to be said for the way he makes the interview feel like a conversation, follows them off topic and then reels it back in naturally, and doesn’t overstep.
This is called active listening. I hammer it into employee and manager trainees all the time. 😂 I just meant really that the breadth of her knowledge base, from which to draw, is so grand that it puts almost anyone I’ve dated to shame. Also she seems deeply spiritual, and it would be interesting to press her on metaphysics. Funky cheese, to the meaning of life.
@@archetypalculinarian By the time she was 12 she'd read 1,200 books!! Not comics or cartoon books, but book books. So at 24 she's incredibly well read with an amazing family who keep her grounded. She fascinates.👍🏻💖
@@pianoman4967 - She proofread her mother’s doctoral thesis, if I remember correctly. It’s one thing to be a prolific reader, it’s another to retain information and bend it to to be used in different contexts. I don’t tend to deify people based on accomplishments. I just really like her mannerisms, and brooding intelligence. She has a depth of personality that is, quite frankly, not something you see everyday. She is fortunate to have NZ, American fandom is the worst. People here and their obsession with fame is very unhealthy for people like her. It’s easy here to fall into the psychological trappings of happenstance surrounding wealth and pseudo-status. I give her a lot of credit for remaining low profile.
It's honestly true. I remember onion rings used to be good, but somewhere along the way they started getting bigger and now they aren't fried properly anymore so the crust doesn't stick to the onion. So you just bite a piece and then the fried part falls right off the onion part. And now I never order onion rings anymore
@@salj.5459 Right? One time my Mom fried these frozen ones with minced onion and I was amazed at how you could have a clean bite because I literally have never experienced that before, and I've yet to experience it again.
I have had that experience with alot of hot wings guests. Sean is a great interviewer and really draws out their personalities. Hot wings is an awesome show, much better interviews then any late night talkshow IMO
@@riddlerecsful there were definitely a few great ones even Dua Lipa rocked the wings but I don't think I've ever seen anyone do the last dab and be like this is great I want more. 😂
Usually the guest gets up as soon as the interview is over, but she just chills there nibbling on a scorching hot wing and chatting away like it's a casual lunch at a cafe or something. :D She handled that shit like a Boss!
I think I replied to the wrong comment. I thought I was replying to someone who said no-one else had come close to her defeating the wings, or something like that, but upon receiving a couple of replies, I have to agree that Tommy's performance in no way diminishes the gangstership of Lorde's. Apologies, I didn't mean to detract from how awesome she was, I was addressing an entirely different topic altogether, which is totally on me, since this thread has nothing to do with my silly contribution.
Lorde has to be acknowledged as the Hot Ones Queen. She’s not only not touched any water or milk, but she also took multiple bites, didn’t even break a sweat or falter at any point, AND she put a MASSIVE amount of The Last Dab compared to other guests. She’s the one to beat, the benchmark for past and future episodes.
I feel like Sean and Lorde connected very differently than most of the other guest. I dunno why, but it seemed like a more intellectual connection. I very much enjoyed this episode, despite knowing very little about the guest.
@@holliswilliams8426 Uh, heat is nowhere remotely in the culture of New Zealand food. At all. That has nothing to do with anything. This is the most chilled reactions to the hot wings ever. I don't think any celebrity can top that. Also the hot sauce companies should make Lorde an ambassador because of her genuine knowledge and interest.
Every interview I’ve ever seen with Lorde just makes me like her more. This is no exception. She’s a phenomenal artist and seems like such a lovely human.
She has the aura of an elven queen from Lord of the Rings. First thing I noticed about her is that she reads voraciously. No one sounds like that at 24 years of age unless they consume an enormous amount of legit literature. She seemed like an enigma from the little I have seen of her and now I'm a fan. Checking her music out now.
Sean is good at making interviews seem like a conversation... Don't you feel like you could watch Lorde and Sean talk for like an hour or two? She seems so down to earth for someone who achieved fame so young and who is so beautiful and talented. You are so right about how great this interview was.
Charlize Theron hardly flinched, Halle Berry breezed very gracefully through to the end, Dax Sheppard asked for an extra wing and soaked it in Blair's MegaDeath because he thought his tastebuds were broken, but I don't think anyone's been as completely unphased as Lorde was. She was just out here snacking, incredible
I would just like you all to know that last night in Toronto, when asked about Hot Ones mid show, Lorde declared it was fun and then cheerfully, WITH TOTAL SINCERITY, added, "I thought the wings would be hotter!" LEGEND.
The look on Sean's face when Lorde doesn't even bat an eye at Da Bomb... like he's witnessing something he didn't believe was even possible. And then it's like Sean himself is under the spell of the hot sauce and can't stop talking as Lorde asks him some very thoughtful and interesting questions. And the way she loads up that last wing with extra sauce! Holy shit! No question... Lorde's the champion.
Sean: "We call this the last dab for the tradition of adding an extra dab of hot sauce." Lorde:"Oh? Neat." *Casually slams a quarter of the bottle onto the wing* What an absolute unit of a woman.

The new bar is set: nose running
Alton Brown's nose didn't even run. The most intense he got was "Yeah, it's hot, but it's not good." 2,000,000 scovilles was the hottest he had, I believe, but I'd say he takes #1 by a slim margin.

It's impressive, but it's almost disappointimg because I feel like the interviewee breaking down is part of what makes the interviews interesting
I’m not into that much pop, but something about Lorde’s music always appealed to me, and now I think I understand why. What a thoughtful, chill, curious person.
No tears, no sweat, no water, no milk.... that’s funky hot impressive!!!

Just a few ounces of nasal mucus...
let's be honest SHE is the best guest to come to this show .. interactive, genuine, witted, wings slayer, Da Bomb conqueror.
Lorde did it all without breaking a sweat
That's what happens when you find enjoyment in little things.
AGREED. I didn’t think I could fall in love with her more and she’s just so well so spoken and LOVELY.
Opinion in my opinion but definitely gave me more of a insight of her as a person. loved it and her
One of the best for sure. Personally Shia Labeouf was my favorite. Lorde was great though. She took those wings better than anyone I've seen which was unexpected.
Shes so chill that the hot wing cant even touch her
She totally flipped the script on that interview! By the end shawns like, "Really good question!" with his eyes red and watering while lorde is nodding her head listening to his answer straight faced. So badass...
jjuujjuj on thet beet
Once you get through the wings without breaking a sweat, you also unlock Sean's interviewing abilities. Lorde has unlocked the magic.
Why does Lorde look so much like Randy Marsh?
ua-cam.com/video/eN2o_V4SrZI/v-deo.html
I love it when the guests ask Sean questions like they are genuinely interested to know and are fans of him.
She didn’t just only champion the hot sauces, but asked him a question as well. Damn, haven’t enjoyed an interview like this in a while.

She's a Kiwi, mate. Allways polite.
I burst out laughing on the bus when I saw her epic last dab.
Apollo is pretty spicy but it's not unbearable. Definitely worth a try. And Los Calientes.. 👌 Probably the best hot sauce you can buy
And she kept eating the wing after the show ended
@@johncombs6369 I've been wanting to try a few that they use. Los Calientes is one of the main ones
What a class act. Not only does she remain as composed at the end as she is at the beginning, she actually asks Sean questions in return AND plugs Hot Ones when it's her turn to plug. That's what this show does to keep me coming back: get a more non-scripted, truer insight into people that otherwise might be written off or disregarded just because of their fame.
and keeps nibbling away at the leftovers on her plate!
Nailed it
Wow, you said it articulately and understandably 👏
She's fookin rad
YESSS
Lorde just seems like someone you could talk to for three days straight without ever repeating a topic.
Her mother is a well respected poet and tours with her. Her interviews even from when she became famous at 16 are proof of this. Watch how she moves her hands as she expresses herself.
