I've been on the lookout for lots of gargoyles recently too. It almost feels like you're inside my head! Great looking ruins Eric!

This is exactly how I see the real benefit to 3D printing. Sure you can just print minis to paint. But the options for digital kitbashing make your ability to go anywhere with your ideas so much easier. Great to see someone on UA-cam embracing printing this way!

A cool detail to add color would be a few shards of dirty stained glass shards sticking out or in the rubble at the base
If you want chipped / broken pieces in future, maybe try and break them *before* putting them in the curing oven? As far as I know, the resin should be softer at this stage and more easily breakable. Another idea would be: make a mold from your resin piece (as someone else suggested) but pour plaster in there instead of resin. That should be easily breakable.

The Cable Tie on the side is unironically a game changer never thought or saw that in my life

@flonk plonk He cut the ends off of a cable tie and glued it to the side of foam core that made up the roof to add detail and hide the foam absolutely genius 11:03

The two way tape wont hold up a small painting but the adhesive is 100% permanent lol

I think 2021 is the zenith of creativity it's like the 1980's all over again. All you guys are really bringing it hard this year so far.

This is undoubtedly the best homemade "sci-fi ruined building" tutorial out there.
There are a LOT of different videos that talk about making ruined buildings out of foam core, but I found that the end product of nearly all of those videos look exactly the same. I'm sure that those conventional buildings serve their purpose on the gaming table, but none of those videos wound up making a building which didn't look distinctly "home made out of basic craft materials," and I suppose that's to be expected when everyone out there is using similar materials and techniques to achieve their goals.
I understand that 3D printing is still a luxury for many hobbyists, and that the inclusion of this technology might be prohibitive for many. However, you've demonstrated that the sparing inclusion of certain details like windows, corbels and statues elevate that same basic scratch-built structure used in so many previous crafting tutorials into a totally different result, a that result is exponentially more impressive than using basic crafting materials alone.
As the owner of a resin 3D printer, it always irked me that I can print incredible miniatures, but the larger terrain files that come in so many of my monthly subscriptions wind up collecting dust on my hard drive due to how prohibitively expensive it would be to print larger structures in resin.
This video proves that you don't need to print the whole thing to make an incredible terrain piece, and you can save your resin just for the interesting details while still building the majority of the structure with basic crafting techniques.
This is the tutorial, and inspiration, I was looking for.

For rubble I’ve found plaster of Paris poured into a flat container then broken with a hammer or dropped onto a concrete floor (just sweep up after) make for great and cheap (as well as realistic for that matter) rubble for buildings. You can mix in some grey craft paint (I suggest a light grey) before it cures for a realistic look (also includes its own dust!)
I like that you got the use of Gargoyle and Grotesque correct. Most people just call them all Gargoyles.

Construction adhesive... Finally someone who appreciates the stuff as much as I do! Sticks, fills gaps and you can even sculpt with it to a certain degree!

I like everything but the Gargoyles. Depends on the durability. However the mix of 3d printing and foamcore/windows/sides are 10/10. Great work with the weathering and exposed floor

Great mix of 3D printing and traditional crafting! Most people would've made the entire project out of 3D printing. Im glad you showed that by combining the two makes for an awesome effect! My wife is going to hate me for wanting one now. I will blame you 100% for showing how good the end results are! Plus now the prices are dropping on reliable machines!

This is how I end up making a giant tables worth of city ruins. Such a cool idea mixing the different techniques together rather than falling into the old grudge match. Really great edit too!

Love this I have the same printer plus 4 cr10’s and I have stocked up on windows ,doors,fences and gates I don’t know what I would have done without the resin printer it has changed my game big time.

3d Printing opens up so many possibilities for your builds excited to see what you come up with!
3D printing opens up quick options for highly detailed builds. The downside is they don't need the same kind of ingenuity to use, so use them sparingly or make sure you maintain your traditional hand-crafting skills and ingenuity for by specifically taking on challenging projects and NOT using the 3d printer. I loved the tiles you made, by the way. Excellent!

Great looking build! I really like the integration of the 3d printed parts into scratch-build frameworks, I think it represents and excellent opportunity to get a lot of fast value from both methods, identical corbels would be a nightmare to make by hand, and flat walls take forever and are expensive and wasteful to print. Really interested to see how this ties into your building methods going forward, keep up the great work!

@1:30 I know that it's an office space quote, but it's actually pretty straight forward. PC stands for Paper cassette (the name of the paper tray on that model of laser printer). Error codes from that generation start with the location of the error (Paper Cassette) and then what is the problem is. So "PC: Load Letter" is saying to load letter sized paper into the paper cassette
What a nice vid. I like you com,posited the pieces, both with each other to create a cohesive addition, but then also with hand-crafted parts, to form the entire build. Really well done. It almost makes me willing to get one, just for fiddly bits, such as windows. Almost

The speed of just being able to bash things together as you go along is a really spectacular pitch for using that construction adhesive haha. It seems to be about as fast as using hot glue but whenever I'm building something I often rather reach for the PVA or tacky glue just because I can't stand the little wisps of hot glue getting everywhere or how much it stinks up the place.

I'd recommend trying Lychee slicer, it's also free and I've found it to be more stable with better features than Chitubox. Great vid!
That tile design is exactly what I needed to finish this towering, gothic skyscraper I've left unfinished for the last 6 months! I didn't know what to do with the floors... Time to paint some marble!
