- It's difficult to know how much doctors are really paid. The information, although publicly available is hidden online. I often get asked HOW MUCH MONEY DO DOCTORS EARN and who are the HIGHEST PAID DOCTORS In The UK?- I was really surprised to learn about the highest paid doctors in the UK and about the doctors earning over £1,000,000 a year. WHO are these doctors, what SPECIALTIES are they in and HOW do they earn so much more!?
Today, I'm investigating these highest paid doctors - join me taking a deep dive into the finances of medics. We'll start by looking at the way that doctors are paid, via the NHS and Private Healthcare System and why Private Healthcare is more lucrative. We then explain the basic pay of junior doctors, and how this is misleading - and then move on to research that shows the real earnings of the highest paid GPs and Consultants in the UK and the specialties that are paying these big bucks!
I honestly was so surprised by these results and to find out about these numbers, some things to bear in mind are that these figures are dated, and are likely to be even higher today. If you missed the video where I break down my payslip, check it out here: • HOW MUCH MONEY I MAKE ...

Hi Kirian, Could you do a video on average yearly cost of training (exams fees, required subscriptions etc ) for GP trainees and maybe other specialities.
Keep up the great work!!!

It's mind blowing to see people talk about a few doctors who unbelievably surpassed 1M a year when Kim Kardashian takes home this amount of money for an Instagram post.
Madness!
Exactly
This just shows how broken our society is
Well footballers earn quite a lot for just kicking a ball around.
Entertainment pays. That explains music, movies and sports. I'm not sure why you decided to single out Kim Kardashian. You might feel she has no talent but she obviously does. Nobody actually gets money for "nothing"
Entertainment pays! Footballers, movie stars and social media influencers get paid by the truckload. Yet the people who are protecting the country and lives of its citizens regularly by putting their own lives in danger are paid peanuts
I don’t have problems with doctors making money. They literally spend a decade to become doctors. That’s a dedication. Not many of us have that much stamina to stay in school for this long. We need dedicate people like doctors. Thank you for giving up your social life and a lot more to be part of a healthcare team.
Anyone of average intelligence can become a doctor in dumbed down Britain.
another great video, I also live in Manchester and I had a very bad time last year with a burst appendix. Without the help of doctors I would of passed away. They deserve a lot more than what they get end of conversation :)
Thank you!
As an eye surgeon, I think it’s great that doctors get paid so well. It takes years to learn such high level skills. No amount of money is enough. Being a private consultant anywhere in the world is way more difficult than an institutional practice.
Thanks for sharing, agreed the training is long and the pay is representative of skill
Whats your thoughts on the young, left wing generation suggesting surgeons like yourself would still work as hard, sacrifice as much, without the incentive of money?
@@ps0116 Tbh I didn't understand your question. Please can you frame it better.
To whatever I have understood my preliminary reply would be : doing good , precise beautiful eye surgery is a passion of mine and the satisfaction one gets out of doing beautiful surgery. No amount of money can give that . Money is only a number, but yes it should be high for the skill that surgeons possess and the stress we take to do even a single case
Sudeep Brar , I see. I was trying to ask whether you, and other surgeons, would have gone through the training, if the salary was the same as someone working in McDonalds. I hear a lot of people suggesting you would, but I always disagreed.
@@ps0116 I don’t think anyone would do that at a young age, maybe after 60 someone might not look at the renumeration part. The intangible part about doing beautiful surgery and patient gratitude still remains as my previous comment. No other profession provides that I feel.
It's also to important to note professional outgoings for both NHS and private doctors. As the salary goes up, the fees go up. This is especially true in the private sector where there are administration fees, staffing, rooms rental, and the big one - indemnity. Also, surgical training is full of bottle necks and compulsory exams and courses so it would be interesting to look at the average time taken from medical school to consultant level between different specialties!
Yeah that would be really interesting, and I’ve not counted the costs but that would be a good exercise!
Don’t forget the fees they pay to the masonic lodges. Without degenerate rituals and Molock worship , they can only go so far in the medical careers
Sick video! I guess it’s important to realise that these doctors earning a shit ton are a tiny tiny minority. For the majority, we won’t be on lambo money but we’ll live a nice comfortable life & I guess that’s good enough
Point well made, these are just the top earners and they must be doing something really special to be earning these figures. Thanks for watching!
Well said
My husband trained for about 20 years before he became a consultant cardiologist in the NHS !!! It’s not easy at all!

I have great respect for medicine doctor. I have worked for the NHS at the Hospital for many years as a domestic. I'm sad about the low salaries I have for the NHS. I do a variety of education, but there is no grade for domestic. I work for a minimum wage for a hard job😢😢!
Thanks Roman
It will be interesting to analyse the cost to become consultant too. Those years for studying will have a lot of fees.
For sure, expenses in training, exams etc

Hi Kiran. Thank you so much for a very interesting and enlightening presentation. Could you please present or indicate how GP's practices who administered the covid vacines to the public were remunerated by the NHS during the covid pandemic. Thank You so much.
Holy!
Thanks for the informative videos 👍
Great video ! nice, clean and professional editing also very informative. keep it up ;D

I’m a little taken aback by the intro. How transparent you are about your own salary without sounding boastful, it’s quite an art. Nice video
Thanks Cheeseball, you have one of the best usernames ever
@@Kiran.Morjaria Made it at 11 years old. Even misspelt cheese. 😆
As bad as it sounds, I don't believe UK doctors are paid enough for the amount of work they do. For example the US, Australia, New Zealand and Canada have averages far higher and nurses in the NHS have salaries which aren't too far off to junior doctors. This is probably because the UK is more socialist than the countries mentioned above.
Real eye opener! Way to go Kiran...will be waiting for more exciting stuff! :)
Thanks Prottay!
Starting as a GPST in august (ARCP pending). Awesome video, keep it up 👌
Nice one man, good luck!
Great content..keep Growing!!🧿
Thanks Shreya!
As a fellow medic and whilts I appreciate that this video's true intention is for informing, I fear that this might rekindle any of the backlash that we may have gotten when we went for industrialisation branding the profession as either greedy or ungrateful. Just a thought.
Thanks for sharing, it’s for interest and I think it also highlights the pay of the most junior doctors too!
Cover up culture. Why are people so scared of honesty?
@@fairfacttv8175 really? That wasnt the point I was trying to make. I’ll happily tell you what a registrar earns. The point is the public didnt understand the point of industrialisation, and many branded the profession as greedy when the government decided to review the junior doctor contract or force a 7 day week service when it was clueless that this was already happening.
I agree...the opening did not qualify this is all before taxes either.
@@davidlai6798 yes but would you reveal your salary publicly? I think transparency on all fronts could have avoided some of what lead up to the industrial action, since the public do side with doctors more often than not. As long as there isn’t talk of complete privatisation like in America then I think the public would agree with doctors/nurses getting a fair pay rise, since it does also favour the public.
Your video popped up, I watched and loved it! Subscribed straight away. Your honesty is so brilliant 🥰
Thanks Katie! These are the comments I love

I’ve also argued that a better metric is an hourly rate and over the course of a career, in which case I think you’d find General Practice comes way ahead…. You’ve reached CCT in just three years and work far fewer hours than hospital trainees for their extra training years and even into consultancy. Pound for pound, hour for hour, I think GP is a brilliant option! Thoughts? Has anyone done similar maths?
Great point, shorter training was definitely a swaying factor in me choosing GP training!
Comparing the outcome with the effort taken to get there, there's something to be said for being an inmate in a long-term institution. True, you have to put up with a lot of abuse, but so do many paid workers.
That’s how market sets itself we obviously need more GPs then specialists surgeons
To be honest after listening to this it seems quite fair
The starting salary might be arguable.
Also shift allowance and night shift etc is perfectly normal you need an incentive and that must pay off otherwise who would choose night shifts and weekends
GPs drown in reams of paperwork and bureaucracy.
Great video man 🔥
Thanks Gabriel!
That was an interesting one 🤯. I thought moving out of the UK was the only way someone could earn this much!
Thanks man, something to look forward to
These were not the norm though. Places like Austrailia would be better suited to match that figure without having to do as much “work”.
Hey kiran
Really appreciate the video
Wanted to ask if u could make/update ur video regarding the earning of junior doctors in the UK on average…
The payscale given by NHS is available online …. And there will always be the addition of night shifts and out of hour shifts etc
But how about making a video explaining possible earning with locums and potential hours of locum which could be managed by people ….
And any other side hustles which could be managed in this time for extra earning in the UK for doctors?
Thanks
As a final year medico, this video motivated me a lot. Thanks bro 😁❤️

Hey Kiran! That is soo kind of you
Not everyone tells the info so detailed
Could you tell me how to become a neurosurgeon?
Thanks Jasleen, you’d need to go though surgical speciality training
Good
I wonder why people are upset when doctors who study hard and have a high pressure job, make a lot of money. they don't mind when women show their bodies for a lot of money.
Unfortunately there are always some people who get jealous of people who earn a decent amount - these people see the end goal but don’t see the work it takes to get there. The number of times I was told I was lucky because I earned a good wage....luck had nothing to do with it, try hard work and determination.
Nice information ❤❤❤
In France there is also something like private and public practioner.
The private 's one charge much money as fees
That’s interesting!
Is it easy to register for foreign Physiotherapist for hpsc registration? After that is it easy to get job and work visa from NHS?
I work in the NHS. I had thought of specialising in gynaecology, because money is not the only reward. I actually work in ‘digital communications’ and my earnings potential is almost equal to that of a junior doctor, who has spent far more time in training and learning and perfecting his/her skills than me. So, I don’t begrudge doctors a punny of their hard earned money!
Thanks for sharing Howard!
IT IS AMAZING THAT YOU APPRECIATE THE AMOUNT OF WORK THAT A DOCTOR PUTS INTO TRAINING, TRUST ME AT THE END OF THAT ROAD ,NOT ALL PEOPLE APPRECIATE IT.
Am still curious about that😔

Trainees have their pay protected with increments ensured every year unlike non trainees working as Trust Grade/Clinical Fellows who are only hired for service and are treated like shit by everyone including trainee doctors. The BMA have confirmed this as well. Everytime you get a new job contract as a non trainee doctor working in service post, you are always put on the lowest pay scale.

What is this surgical core training u mentioned? I understood that after med school I can do Foundation Year 1 and 2 afted which I can apply for specialty. No?
Yes, but do to most surgical specialities you need to do core surgical training first. Eg you do 2 years of ‘core surgical’ and then do T&O, Urology, General surgery further training after that
There is a bariatric surgeon where I work that does a private patient list every weekend, sometimes even two lists per week. Surgeon fee is about £3500 per patient. My estimation is they make an average of £100000 per month on top of their NHS salary.
Right its time for me to go work at whatever street you just mentioned
Up most respect for anyone in the healthcare system. The time and effort needed to get to such career levels takes years of hard work and sacrifice. All I can say is thank you.
Thank you 😁
You are so naive. They are puppets of the pharmaceutical industry and the tribe that owns this country. Top doctors are initiated into satanism at masonic temples and practice Kabbalism . Prior to this they go through mk ultra brainwashing through phd programmes. They are classic marxist useful idiots. Very useful for the big brother society and total NWO control. @@Drzeezy But don't forget about sport, the arts and charity work. You have to give evidence of community involvement as well as brains when you apply to medical schools.
A levels matter most, the core subject is chemistry. Try to get all A stars in all 3 / 4 subjects. Most top uni will need you to pass the UCAT test. You will not be given an interview even if you obtain all A levels with A stars if you fail the UCAT Test ( some uni don’t require UCAT) On top of that it will help if you did some charity or related volunteer work. Good Luck .. apart from that it’s a walk in park

The gap between male and female consultants is despicable
I could not agree more, and it’s also something that I had no idea about
It isnt how it works, you have to look at why they are getting paid more. An actual break down, the richest man in the world is far richer than the richest woman. One owns amazon one owns l'oreal. If they are doing the same hours, same job, same extra stuff then it is disgusting.

High earners are likely to have taken steps to reduce their tax liability, which they don't have to tell us about.
Why is there a difference between salary of male and female doctor
Great question, and I don’t know
that is only on the higher end, you have to look at a real distribution to see if that there truly is a discrepancy on the salary. Also only the basic salary should be considered, as per the video it seems that the extra salary benefits are due to individual doctors making sacrifices in order to earn the supplemented salary. Most businesses or industries have supplemental compensation for working our of business hours as well.
Likely because of the societal expectation for women to be primary care givers. Once you get to higher levels/child raising years the discrepancies start to add up.
It’s hard to do those extra training sessions or extra on calls/night shifts when you have children to look after. Generally (only in my experience, can’t speak for everyone) a lot of female doctors have to rush home to pick up the kids and can’t commit to things that would increase their income as often like on calls because of child care issues
