Can I repair a 33 year old video card bargain from eBay?!

In this video I am attempting to repair my Western Digital WD90C11-LR that I picked up for a cheap bargain price of only £8 on eBay. This will be a nice ISA video card to have spare when I need to test an ISA only system.

I now have a pit in my stomach that I threw out an artifacting Cirrus CL5480 that might have been recoverable, back when I was a big fan of Cirrus logic.
I'd had a 5428 VLB, a 5446 was my first PCI card, some 5465's turned up and I might even still have one in a box, but this was the first 5480 I'd seen (from a bargain bin at a computer fair), saw the same stall at the next one, and lamented the failure but accepted it was pot luck, but the guy said they should all be working, pick another .... found a Matrox Millennium 2
