Aww Gemma, I'm so sorry you've been poorly. Thank you for the video doll ❤ you take good care of yourself and get plenty of rest. It makes a difference when you're recovering.
Glad to hear that you’re feeling better and that your garden survived the storms. I was definitely thinking of you all and hoping all were well. No snow here in Nova Scotia yet, however Western Canada and Ontario have been it. We’ve had rain still no freezing temperatures. Keep well and continue enjoying your winter growths. Love watching your videos so much!
Hi Gemma, aww, poor, you are getting a horrible cold. I hope you feel better soon. What a lovely walk to your plot. Take some vitamin C & vitamin D3 throughout the winter months, it helps a lot. Lovely video. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Hi Christine 👋 I am feeling much better Thank Goodness, but last week was just awful 😖 🤧 I will definitely start taking vitamins, Thank You 😊 I hope you had a great weekend x
Hope you feel better soon, it’s great everything was ok. Hope you enjoyed your cup of tea and just taking time to appreciate all you have accomplished. I think I’ve got some daffs trying to come up too 😮
I'm feeling much better Thank You 😊 the daffodils coming up are so strange aren't they! It will be interesting to see what they do! Hope you have a great week xx
Hi Gemma, hope your fully recovered soon. It is strange, I live in South Wales, my tulips have started to come through and my sweet peas have self seeded and growing again. I think we might have an early spring next year.x
Hi Gem, I hope you survived Bert last weekend. I like to baton down the hatches when the wind gets up. We have our fair share of wind off the north sea, its windy in August. What is the mouldy sausage like creature growing in your greenhouse in a square pot at the back of the bench? is it a potato 🥔? It made me rewind for another look 😆Thank you for sharing, bfn 🐞🌻🌱
Hi Jane 👋 hee hee it's a sweet potato 🥔 I put 4 or 5 in compost at the begining of the year and they sprouted 🙌 I grew the best ones and these are the ones left over 🤣 they need to go in the compost, a job for this week I think 👌 Have a great week xx
Hi Gemma. Glad you're feeling a bit better. Fresh air is the best cure I'm sure. That's really weird that the daffodils are coming through already - no sign of mine yet - but I'm further North than you. My garlic was much slower coming through this year, but is now doing really well. Enjoying the videos - thanks.
Now you have the big poly you’ll need to really make sure things don’t blow around 😢. Is the garlic different varieties or the same, perhaps one does better than the other. Looks good and glad Bert passed by. Have an amazing weekend, Ali 🥶🥶🇨🇦
Hey Ali ☺️ yes im a lot more vigilant now I have the poly. They are the same variety on that side so it's really strange 🤔 I'm sure they will come up soon! Have a great week x
You sound so poorly still. Hope you’re feeling better soon. I have a hasp and staple thing to lock down my mini polytunnel, with a clipped on tensile wire (for when it’s open) to stop it blowing all the way open too. Your idea works well though too. You have so much garlic in the tunnel don’t you? Will you be planting your tomatoes around them next year? Mine haven’t come up yet..well most of mine. The Germidor has, but that’s an earlier variety anyway. Glad you didn’t have any more damage than a blown over compost bin. It was awful wasn’t it? Stay warm. See you soon
Hi Claire 👋 I feel so much better Thank You, I've been really taking it easy. I think I need to upgrade my way of keeping my tunnel down, plus I don't have anything to keep it open so it's always a risk I will get knocked put when I'm planting etc 😲 Yes I have so much garlic 🧄 last year I just planted my tomatoes around it and the garlic was harvested before the tomatoes started growing. I'm hoping to do the same next year 👍 The rain and wind really were something else, I'm sure we will have more over the winter 😖 Hope you had a great weekend xxx
Morning Gemma! Hope you are felling better? Is that bitter cress next to the cabbage in the polytunnel? You might want to pick that out as it spreads chronic like purple clover. We never had it in our garden until the end of last year and it's cropping up everywhere this year. Not checked the new bulbs with have planted but yes some of our existing bulbs always comes up this time of year thinking it is spring. I quit coffee a few years back as it plays with me but recently last week or so I have started drinking tea with cardamon seeds. Not really a tea person but nice when it has been cold. How is your garden pest issue going? I recorded two adult rats and then a smaller one yesterday. I am pretty sure their nest is nearby. Apparently, they wonder around a 30 mtr radius of their nest! 😱 Are you doing any Black Friday shopping today? Finally going to order a pressure canner from the US! so excited! Anyway, hope you have a wonderful weekend! Take care. x😍
I'm feeling much much better Thank You 😊 still not 100% but much better than last week. Tea with cardamon seeds sounds really nice do you just steep them in water? There's still something digging in the garden, I'm really not sure what it is, I might have to get one of those cams that Danny has! Ooohhh a pressure canner sounds great! I did a little shopping on line but I wasn't really up to much! Hope you've had a great weekend
@@GemInTheGarden Hopefully you can take it easy this week as these things can take time to get your energy back. Yes i just remove the seeds from the pods and chuck them in with the bag. If you don't like the seed bits you can use a teapot, grind them up or use those loose tea leaf steeper purses. Yes will be interesting to see what it is. The poo you showed is either a cat or a fox but a fox is more likely to dig to get to the fertiliser and poo to mark their smell. I am so looking forward to it arriving. Got the Ball book coming too. Won't be getting any presents anytime soon unless it's jars for my birthday next year but worth it. Was still about $200 cheaper than buying from the UK. Spare parts, the book and import taxes/delivery is still £100 cheaper. It is all in US weights so just need to convert and i have US cups. Do you have one? I am hoping to clear out some of the workshop over winter to make more shelf space on the racks for more jar space. I cleared our all the jars to give them another clean, check and sort in date to put back and made a note of what we have. Had a great but busy one thanks. Got our tree up and most of the decorations up ready for Fred the Elf who arrived today to take the letter to Santa. Kinda surprised that there isn't many questions still or they are just running with it at this point! lol But enjoying still. Fred is a little bit lazy these last couple of years and not as naughty as he used to be. Washed our kids' window and gave it a "spring" clean when we put their little tree up. Told them we didn't want Santa to think they had a messy bedroom! Also tided the garden after the storm/ winds. Did you get any flooding near you? The park near the station got flooded but luckily we are a bit higher up so just mainly had the high winds blowing things over and was really noisy with the wind and alarms going off. Went to Tesco and those flats were clanking like crazy! Oh before i forget, if you want me too i can show you some pics of that garden centre i found? I want to go back there to pick out this years decoration for the tree. Take care xx
The daffodils are definately not normal. I've got flowering fuchsia's. Absurd.. My veg plot this year barely produced, mostly leek, and a bit of carrot, beet and herbs. Moved to another plot for a few reasons and I am really hoping 2025 will be a better year. I hear a lot of people saying that 2024 was the worst year éver for them, in veg gardinging.
Using the plant support is a fantastic idea for securing it down against the wind Gem. Great update
Thanks Tony ☺️ have a great weekend 😊
10:17 The "little culprit" was living it's best life LOL
Hee hee it certainly was! 😊 I hope you're having a great weekend 😊

Could it be where you've got the patch of garlic not coming up ground is not warming up so much looks a bit shaded in that spot ?? just a thought 🤔
Hi Elizabeth, yes that could be it, I hadn't thought of that. Have a great weekend 😊 x
Little and often don’t do too much 😘
Thank You Alan, hope you're having a great weekend 😊
