@@chadquigley227 Sorry, I guess I just skimmed through his comment before I posted, all I saw was T2, obsessed as a kid and still am lol you got me!!! Still a fantastic movie all the same
Thank you for being the first person to upload a video about T2, my all time favorite movie, and actually having unknown content. For once, I have learned something new.
Even watching this today is amazing, the special effects are just as good as if the flick was made today, without a doubt one of the greatest movies ever made!!!
Robert Patrick really did make this movie what it is, as much as Linda and Arnie. Feel like the performance has been properly appreciated in the last couple of years. 👍🏻
32 years later, we're still talking about this masterpiece. 25 years later, we're still talking about The Matrix. You understand what the 90's could've been if they had 2020s tech?
That guy at 3:22 is the guy standing outside the store in Terminator 2 taking pics when Arnold gets tossed through the glass of that clothing store by the T-1000 after the Terminators have their first interaction.
I forgot about this until I saw this video but when I was 16 years old, I and my coworkers were able to watch T2 a full 24 hours before it released in the theater for the general public-solely because we worked at a big movie theater in Reno, Nevada. I wish I knew at the time how big of a deal this movie would turn out to be, but I’m grateful that I was working there at exactly that moment in time. I first realized how big the movie was when, for the entire first week of the release, it was not only completely sold out, but dozens of people would pay for other movies and then would sneak in and were willing to just stand throughout the whole movie. We let them do it because they were very respectful to the people in seats because they didn’t want to risk getting kicked out. Being able to see it early feels like an enormous privilege that I didn’t deserve.
The mere fact that a movie can transport you back to a specific moment in your past speaks volumes about its greatness. Thank you for sharing this story!
@southlondon86 You and me both, I remember watching lord of the rings for the 1st time on vhs, I even remember watching jaws for the 1st time on TV.... I imagine I would remember seeing a secret screening of one of the biggest movies of all time, infact, at that point I think it was the biggest moofee of all time.
I can still remember watching this for the first time with my dad. My mom wasnt very happy he did that, but this movie became my favorite. We had a hell of sound system, the "bad to the bone" scene could be heard within 100yds of our house. 😅
I know exactly how you feel. i think ive seen t2 maybe 200 times. almost as much as ive watched aliens lol with both films i can watch them and narrate every line as they play hahaha
Same here. I was six years old when I saw it in theaters with my dad, haha. Different times. It was a formative experience and remains a strong influence in my creative life. I wish the subsequent sequels would have lived up to T2.
My step father bought the movie from a rental store for $100 bucks, for a VHS! I watched that movie over and over. It's still one of my favorite movies of all time. Lol, I also love Point Break!!!
as dirt bike fanatic my whole life, it bothered me that the bike John Connor rode in Terminator 2 was a 4 stroke, but they gave it a 2-stroke sound LOL
I figured this would be the same old stuff we’ve already seen on UA-cam, but this was significant new content (both information and clips), and was very well done (pro)! Great narration voice, too!
We hired a narrator, so if it’s AI, we must be paying some incredibly talented computer genius who’s also communicating with us through their creation. Our narrator does a lot of acting bits, like parodying Arnold, and I’ve never seen a text-to-speech AI model that can actually act-let alone hit the right moments I, as the writer, didn’t even highlight in the script.
Oh, I’m sorry if I came across as offended! I just really wanted to explain ourselves since this isn’t the first time we’ve heard comments about AI narration, and I honestly don’t understand why. Also, thank you for the kind words! 😊
aah man the golden days, i remember going to my mom house at the weekend and surpriiiiiise, Terminator 2 vhs in my hand i watched it hundreds of times and still do since 91
What a privilege to watch this icon of a movie's production. Of course it must have been a complete nightmare to make real but video tech plus digital was extremely basic at the time. James Cameron obsession with his vision is supremely key but his ability to get people to DO it is quite rare. How? Thank u for this upload. T2 is one of my all time greats. Even today. I am 58years old and I am a visual design lecturer. I still cant fault the blend of tech being used to serve the narrative. The story is the point, not the VFX. Awesome.
I saw the T-3D at universal studios in Florida. I thought it was epic. When the models of the terminators started firing blanks from their mini guns... Loud!
Never noticed it as a kid but sure would have been cool if they match the dirt bike sound. He's running a Honda XR100 or XR80 both four stroke turds, and they liven it up with two-stroke ripping, and 18 gears
I got to see the 3D Terminator show at Disney back in the day. It was really good. I remember the 3D effects being really good, and the cyborgs that pop up on the sides of the theater were a big surprise!
It's shocking to me when I hear that Cameron nearly passed on Edward Furlong... He was perfectly-cast. The kid holds his own with Arnold, and even gets some tear-jerker scenes in there toward the end. Just think of how many kid-actors have ruined big movies throughout the years---- but Furlong is a perfect foil to Arnold.
This whole movie is just a symphony of badass Rock n f'n Roll 🤘 The stars seemed to align and everyone really went beyond what should have been possible. In many ways this movie has never been topped
I expected to be disappointed as usual in the "things you didn't know" video that I've seen a million times. However, this was great! Finally some fresh T2 content that showed me stuff I didn't know for once
total theatre-wide shock and awe, that moment after they meet at the mall when the T-1000 stands up, and starts pushing Arnold around, one guy jumped up and yelled "GOD DAMN!" none of us had ever seen anything like THAT
To me that moment is right up there when Thanos beats up Hulk in Infinite War and when Bane breaks Batman in The Dark Knight Rises. It gives you chills that a villain is that strong...giving the protagonist a run for his money.
thank you so much for posting this video! i am a huge terminator fan and had thought i had seen/known almost everything about the behind the scenes of this movie, but this was almost all new material and footage for me. bravo!
My babysitter brought this with them when minding me as a kid but wouldn't let me watch it, so I snuck back downstairs and watched the entire thing on my knees peeking through the keyhole in the hallway
My parents took me to the theaters to see this one in 91 when I was a kid (8 yrs). Good times, and man the 90s was awesome! Had no idea this movie was this intricately made, but that’s perfection.
That scene didn't wind up on the cutting room floor. Someone posted the unreleased rough cut on YT a couple weeks ago. I was so lucky to get a copy however it does cloud the story for those who had never seen the film before.
I love how they just play off the whole “oh yeah, we had Linda train with this Israeli guy name Uziel Gal. He was maybe only the designer of one of the most famous smg’s of the time that may or may not be named after him” part
Lightning in a bottle! Couldn't imagine it with a different cast (amongst many other minor/major coups) Very cool breakdown thanks! I definitely remember some of this from that mail-in behind-the-scenes VHS that was a part of an offer with the toys iirc (which I saw before the movie)

It absolutely amazes me how well the SFX in T2 still hold up today.

I've watched 8436 docs and behind the scenes videos about T2 but I guess I just now noticed the practical effect rehearsal at 12:48. That's so great.
