Omg, I love Jane Birkin
She was the it girl of the 60's and 70's. She's had an understated flair for fashion and is just marvellous to this day.
She's an incredible person and artist but everyone's always asking her about the same things, Serge and that song or even her daughters but never about her own things. She has told those stories over and over again.
Well she's now an icon for having been ahead of her time at being involved in those things she did with Serge so I don't think it's insulting for her in any way.
She is, amongst other things, a talented and awarded actor in her own right.
I'm sure she's had plenty of conversations about that, too.

True. It's because their love and partnership make people dream. Together they were beautiful and did wonderful things. They are iconic not only individually but also as a couple, more even as a couple.

Jane Birkin is a class act. I absolutely love BB but I prefer Jane's version of the song with Serge. Bardot's is very erotic but Jane's is more loving and pure, you can feel the love she had for him. The video looks beautiful, I'd love to see all of it.

I agree. Jane Birkin was very sensual, childish like. Serge Gainsbourg captured her charm and potencial and made it blew.
Would love for her and Gainsbourg legacy to get more public english attention. They are both legends and their love story is the most beautiful.
It would not be considered right nowadays for a 41-year-old man to be dating a 23-year-old. Especially a man with a reputation like Gainsbourg.
The problem is that the music just wasn’t that good musically for the English speaking world. We had the Beatles, Elvis, Rolling Stones, Carpenters, Motown, Eagles, etc. etc.
@@ericlind6581 Most of my favourite artists are old english speaking musicians and bands (60s 70s 80s...) but Gainsbourg was unique. His music was so diverse and lots of songs are so powerful and emotional. And I don't even understand the lyrics much (can't wait to learn french at a good level). He would be far far more famous if he was english and yet I love he's french.
@@roxanam.3216 Lyrically he’s interesting, but musically it’s not great. He doesn’t have the gift for melody like a Barry Gibb or Burt Bacharach. If he had had that he would have been big. It’s not about the language but the melodies. Look at BTS for example. Even though they sing in Korean, they write beautiful melodies and are huge in the English speaking world. Many try to cover their songs in English too which adds fuel to the fire.
@@ericlind6581 I mean everybody has a different taste. And that's fine. But you can't say he is not musically great just because some artists are more popular. There are many factors which makes music popular. For example accesibility and how easy it is to listen. I'm not gonna say that one album that is more complex is necessary better than one that is full of hits that don't really have a bigger message. Each person will decide that but it can be an important factor for its popularity. Why is classical music not played on all radio stations, even though is probably the most influential music out there. Why is David Bowie less popular than Elvis Presley (who didn't even write his music)? I'm not saying it doesn't require talent to produce catchy, easy-to-listen songs but that alone does not make one artist superior or inferior.

Wow, beauty is truly ephemeral, not to say Jane isn't beautiful now, but DAMN, look at the change. Don't go with someone just for their looks, at the end beauty will fade and flesh will rot, so enjoy your beauty now without idolizing it.
Jane who is 75 years old, lost her eldest daughter, Kate who committed suicide 7 years ago which led to a terrible nervous breakdown for Jane and a severe Leukemia for which she is still under treatment at the moment. Next time you are judging people by their "physical appearance", try to use your brain (if you have one) and think of it twice.

Even if she is going through a tough time, my point is still valid because you never know what circumstances might be present in life that will eventually make your good looks fade away and that is why one should never go with a person ONLY because of their looks. The words of a song come second to me. In my opinion she did get stuck in always wanting to please. Very much my generation. Luckily most women want to be their independent selves now.
