Android 10 PX6 Double DIN Stereo unboxing, installation, and quick review in Skoda Octavia Mk2 1Z

- Decided to give the Skoda Octavia 4x4 Wagon some love and upgraded the headunit from the GPS Navi Unit (which was OK and we used our phones connected to the AUX jack hidden in the storage) to the PX6 Android 10 stereo. *'m so sorry i keep referring to the unit as PX9... i don't know why that was stuck in my head the whole time doing the V/O.
We specced ours as follows
wireless carplay
USB Android Auto
DSP
The unboxing shows the entire box contents which is very comprehensive. I move onto removal of the original unit which is pretty straightforward. The installation took the longest but i step it all out and give you the biggest tip possible to save you fitment headaches.
PUT THE QUAD-LOCK CONNECTOR OUTSIDE OF IT'S ORIGINAL POSITION
Finally once started up I have a bit of a discovery session with the new unit. (i'm not an Android person so please excuse my awkwardness in using it).
Overall it's a very good unit and a good bang for buck upgrade. Let me know if you want to see anything else related to this unit.

Also if you know more about setting time alignment with this DSP please let me know? I've not come across the instructions yet. Thank you!

Hi mate - brilliant video. I also have a Mk2 4x4 Octavia but with a Bolero head unit, not the Columbus. Presumably the PX6 would replace the Bolero no issue? Cheers.
Yep should do! All the fittings are the same back there (quadlock).

Hey Chris. Yep it'll be right at home in the R36. Exactly the same mountings and install (except the instrument cluster is normal and not two tension springs like Skoda)

Yes it should work. They are essentially the same car just one is facelifted.
Heya mate, brilliant video. I’ve bought a different head unit for my 2012 Skoda, everything seems to be plugged in okay but I’m getting nothing to turn on. It’s a pioneer head unit with a 10A fuse.. would this be the issue when the factory head unit is 15A?
Thanks for watching! Nah shouldn't be the fuse at the head unit...
Sounds like the battery power and IGN might be wrong and check there's a proper ground connection.

@@ianpgonzaga nevermind! Killed my car. I assume this is because I didn't have the right wiring harness from the get go. I've since learnt that this is because Skoda's run from a canbus and there is not ignition switched port. Are you able to point me in the right direction of where I can get a wiring harness for this that would work?
@@DOMKEHOE hey oh no bad news about the car. I think you can "get it back" by disconnecting everything and putting all the original stuff back. I've killed my TT 8J a few times cuz I messed too much with CANbus hahah
My android kit came with its own harness. Maybe ask the supplier for their recommended harness ?
hey mate just have a question with the stock swing radio on my skoda i can change the bass level treble etc stock audio sounds really good but i feel as if one of these systems might not have the same quality, how did it sound to you?
Hi Sterlo we made sure to order the one with the DSP so the Audio is actually very tuneable and sounds way better than the stock Columbus unit we had.
What is the sound like compare to the factory head unit?
Way better (make sure you order the DSP option). You can tune it really nicely to bring life to the speakers. Stereo separation is excellent. There is a basic "time alignment" effect. I would say it's good bang for buck.
Hei can you use rear parking camera or rear distance sensors on thia screen?
Yeah probably. Our car doesn’t have them so can’t test.
