a good chucker can throw anything, like pretty much any sport it is 99% technique and 1% equipment. The vast majority of pros play very similar looking darts between 20 and 26 grams. The grip is more personal. Loads of quality tungsten darts available for about £20, paying more is not necessary.

Quite a nuanced answer. Applicable to darts for sure but not all sports. Take race teams for example… from bicycles to aeroplanes and f1 teams, etc, they all have ‘budget’ and high end equipment.
Entry level wins if pro fails

For consistency I have two suggestions FWIW.
    1) Make sure all of the flight sides are at 90 degrees to each other with no bent or twisted sides. This may not seem so obvious but if you have them unequal then the amount of air flow is different on the sides and above/below. This can make a dart go just a small amount up, down, left or right, or spin away, and can be the difference between hitting a treble 20 or a treble 5 or 1, or the difference between getting that third dart into the treble 20. I can see in the video that your flights on the Phil Taylor darts are not at 90 degree angle on each side. Some cases squash the flights so when you take them out just square them back so they are all at 90 degrees.
    2) Stop rocking back and forth. You throw the dart from the forward position so just plant yourself in that position and stay there for the aiming. For consistency, the only part of your body that should move is your arm.

As someone who sets up darts and throws regularly,
The angle of the dart has nothing to do so much with the weight, but more so the stem and flight combo.
Also the grip and where the weight is positioned.
E.g. front loaded vs middle vs rear loaded
All 3 will throw differently and you can effect the angle of the dart just by changing the flights.

    Interesting video ,
Brass feathered darts were thrown in the 70s i recall and i know also long before then
Also an older guy played in dart team i eventually played for this when i was old enough in the 1970s he with brass / feathered darts and a good player he was and throw them his hand would come in the way sideways then he would open out hand/fingers as he was about to throw for the release and good consistant player he was rip to Ray .
Anyhow i learnt from watching and marking and playing them older guys and the check outs etc
Although in time got this down in my memory alike a calculator and as time went on got better and no problem
Was a slight problem in my earliest days of playing darts likes . So easy with time , but a must for any dart player to know
is the check outs and ways to go after say a missed treble , or number on the board , where next u should automatically know and in time most players who stick with the game shall know .
As for the prices of darts well some are very expensive today , them are very expensive set of darts lol
They certainly look very good gripping and be a nice dart to throw , but no way very many people would buy such
at the price of them darts .
Most id pay is not anything today over £30.00..The set im now playing with are from the darts bargain
can buy from ebay or Amazon for just over £14.00 and are are 90% Tungsten and fair grip and worth the money
and ive purchased different types of darts in the many yrs playing on and off ..Dont need to pay out big prices for
a good set of darts at all , although many younger guys do in their thoughts that they shall play better in which i dont believe
is true at all. But all to their own .. Good video but would have aided if feathers were all in one 😄
Though im sure u can buy new feather flights for them somewhere if needed . But good to keep for the history of darts and ive a fw sets similar put away just for nostalgia .

Unless you bought them as an investment, you should play with them. You have already paid for them so use them. If you changed the srems and flights on the brass darts and practised diligently, you could master them. Consistency comes with practise and fine tuning with the equipment comes later. Speaking from experience, I could throw 12gm to 26gm to a good level because I practised/played at least 2hrs per day mimimum

I don't play darts for a team or anything. I have a board but I use the taylor g7's 24grammes, pro grip short stems, 35mm points and target number 6 flights. Average is normally early 50s and best leg of 17 currently. But they are lovely darts. Most darts sit tail down with my throw technique but the taylors sit lovely, consistently tail up and group really nicely.

Had various sets of McCoys. Performed exactly as a high end dart set with same grip level, barrel length and diameter pretty close. A set of Stealths I used for years was one style I preferred. Same results. I feel if you find the dart that matches your grip, release will perform nicely.

Throwing comfortably is important but if you practice and throw the “wrong” way long enough you will still hit numbers. It’s muscle memory. Repeating your style of throwing and not hitting 180’s all the time doesn’t make it wrong. Everybody has their own way. Still gets the same outcome with practice it’s just how much you want it in the end! Cant spend 10 mins a day and expect to get the same outcome as a professional

I think it's like anything - great darts won't make you a great player. Just like buying the best running shoes won't make you faster. Or a 10k guitar won't make you a better player.But... up to a certain level, they make it a lot easier to perform, or to flip it round, awful equipment can make it harder.
With darts you can luck out and get really cheap ~£15 these days, and they work for you. Buying the nicer ones you should get matched weighted darts. So they're all with X of each other and within Y of the weight you've bought. Would a bedroom player really notice? Arguably not. But if you like the look of them and they throw well for you... Get them. It's a hobby after-all. If you are tight for cash but want to play, then yeah that's when buying players' darts or gimmick darts makes no sense, you're best off getting the barrel shape that works best for you and from various clearance stores.
In some sports buying the pro level equipment can hamper the average player, look at golfers who use blade clubs and aren't good enough. But darts, not so much. The only issue you'll have is if you force yourself to play a set that don't suit you, don't feel right etc. Those Phil Taylor for example wouldn't work well for me, I might be able to throw them but the bomber style just doesn't feel nice to me.

Just one question. Why is there a grip on a dart, when everyone us told to grip the dart. As for your thoughts on what Eric Bristow would say about these expensive darts.
He would say what a load of boll-ocks. His original 22gm Durro 16 ring darts were very expensive at the time. He was lethal with them pre Dartitis!
    None of them weighed 22gm.
I have three sets and the varible weights are alarming.
The player weighs every dart instantaneously and adjusts accordingly.
