Is it hard to remove the catheter?

What is the difference between a 5 and 10ml cath? Don’t both inflate to 10ml?

The water or saline must be sterile, correct? A 5 CC balloon should be filled with 10 CC, correct? A 10 CC syringe with a Laur Slip tip should be used? THANKS.😄

Let’s say you put 10cc saline to inflate the balloon and over time the saline crystallizes. How would you deflate the balloon then while taking out?

That’s a difficult problem. Can inject 2-5 ml of mineral
Oil into the balloon and wait a few minutes and then try to aspirate. Can cut the ballon port off and pass a guide wire up the port to unclog the line. Best to just use water and not saline (salt water). The water does not have to be sterile in the balloon. Can just be distilled water.

What is the significance of balloon size ? Some are 30 cc ?

In most circumstances I would only use a 5 or 10 ml Foley balloon. A 30 ml Foley ballon is usually used for men who are having bleeding from the prostate. The bigger the balloon the more bladder irritation and spams.
