    We lost our syringe that our health care provider gave us, and your video about the scissors was a big help. I think a lot of the nurses and Drs. Should give that information out when you leave the hospital. Thanks again, you relieved me of a great deal of discomfort.

    Hello Dr. Chan. Loved the video. I didn’t know it was that easy to remove this type of catheter. But I do have a question. Are there things I should look out for once removing the catheter? Is blood in the urine normal for the first few days?

    • @DrRobertChan
      @DrRobertChan  4 роки тому +1

      Jorge, thanks for your kind comment. Blood in the urine can be normal, but paying attention to other symptoms can be important. Having a catheter in place does predispose people to developing a urinary tract infection which can be evidenced by blood in the urine. So if someone is having other symptoms like burning with urination or fevers, it might be worthwhile to check in with your doctor to make sure you don't have a UTI.

    I wish that the nurse who removed my catheter would have seen this. She either forgot or didn't know to deflate the balloon before removal. A lot of pain, and a lot of blood. And had to have another one installed the next day, because of the damage that she did.
