I was gonna stop watching after 10 sec. because I didn't know if I could handle it. Then I saw your comment so I forwarded it and im not sure whether to say thank you or ewww. It was funny though!
I like how Piper just wanted the gooey centers from the horn worms. It kinda reminds me of those wax bottles with syrup in them from when I was a kid. 😂
I was wondering if she was perplexed by the texture of the worm and didn't like the skin and that's why she was poking and prodding it to get to the liquidy bits inside.
That hornworm looks to be a blue hornworm aka a tobacco hornworm because they like to eat tobacco leaves. Its species was the inspiration for the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland. It didn’t know what was coming 😔 RIP Absolem lol
The excitement they exhibit when they eat the hissers, it is the same excitement my Jewled Lacerta expresses every time I feed them. Especially roaches. It's adorable!
First I roll it, scratch it, smash it then crunch it. Smush some on the counter for human and me! What a rollercoaster of feelings. Those horn worms... Ahh I thought those green ropes were things for the worms to crawl on, nope those are the worms.
Interesting that a domesticated raccoon maintains their natural instinct for certain foods. Mine preferred mealy worms over the assortment of human palatable foods. Dry kibble was mine's very last choice on each and every plate.
The way it ate the other roaches head while hovering over the alive roach while it’s on its back looking right at it 🤣 dude lol… but I almost threw up 🤢
I have to say, after watching I've learnt to respect those roaches' shells. In the past I'd never thought about how well they'd actually do, but this video makes it possible to really see and hear the claws scratching off the armour. I can imagine how it'd protect them long enough to survive an attack if they were in an environment with more places to run away to.
@Mina Katzu Even if the raccoon is a bit fat, the thing is she's not OBESE. Some people don't feed their raccoons the right diet or take them to get exercise which leads to them getting overweight. The raccoon in this video looks around the average size, if not then a bit bigger, which shows that her owners make sure she's not only getting her exercise, but has a pretty healthy diet as well.
At about one year old my cat started using the back yard as his huge litter box and he discovered that when he dug a hole he would sometimes uncover living creatures. He began bringing earthworms in the house to play with. Though I never saw him eat one he could be seen any day during the summer months dining on moths or grasshoppers of all sizes that he would catch. Most cats are insectivores as well, if given an opportunity. I have personally witnessed our local racoon foraging for earthworms in the soft earth after a summer rainstorm. They can really dig a pretty big hole once they begin getting the big nightcrawlers. Nothing in this video is a surprise to me.
@@theyoutubehandles I drop by from time to time to see if Tito is back, and when I read the original post I got so happy but then I read your reply :(. Still hoping that Tito is happy somewhere.
3:18 it's so cute how they have to get a good feel of something before they eat it 😂 you should give them a bowl of water when you do this because I guess the water helps with their sense of touch, I might be wrong.
The Life and Times of a raccoon, that was definitely a WOW, I've never seen a raccoon participate in this type of function, it's enlightening to say the least, it is the struggle for an animal in the wild meaning is this a staple food that a raccoon wood eat in the wild.
Hey buddy just checking in on ya …I miss watching your videos …They really made my day when I wasn’t feeling good…I hope everything & everyone is doing well…Much love & respect from OHIO !!!
Great posts! Clearly you have become a expert with raccoons. I could see you becoming a veterinarian or working in department of natural resources or possibly a local zoo.
I'm a little disturbed that the bugs were still alive when Piper ate them, although I guess that is the way she'd do it in the wild. Thanks for the informative video! It's interesting to see a pet raccoon getting in touch with its natural roots, even if it can be a little gross at times.
@@chonkeyrex7688 Many bugs have pain receptors and are quite intelligent, there’s a type of caterpillar that will disguise itself as a Queen ant then once it’s let into the hive it eats all the ant larvae and taking over. We shouldn’t assume they don’t feel pain or lack intelligence just because they aren’t cute and fluffy like a commonly loved animal (dog, cat, rabbit, etc)
Yeah just read more into it says they donit when disturbed and the hiss is their way of trying to scare away predators. Probably doesn't work in most cases from the vids I've seen lol
They’re trash pandas, so.. 🤷♀️ Coons are the best. They’re like a tiny human demon with fur 😍 Omg the roach soup in the end.. 🤮 Omg how he keeps rolling them around 🤣😂 Note to self: don’t kiss raccoons on the mouth again…
I think it’s enjoying more eating the roach or insect than any other thing they have given him like chips or human food it’s really savoring that insect. Raccoon looks happy energetic and excited
Its kind of funny how he kept going back to the bowl when the hissing cockroaches came out. I felt almost like he was thinking "Is there something else in here?"
OMG I'm not sure this should actually be funny but I found myself LAUGHING with him playing catch and release with the hissing roaches just as cats do also... Very amusing to watch and it is in their nature to eat insects so I do not see anything wrong with giving them their natural nutrition that they would find in the wild.
When you have a raccoon that has been taken or rescued out of the wild, it seems pointless to "try to get him back to his roots" with other animals, (worms, roaches), that have been bred by humans. Not much going on here that could pass for "natural".
As someone who volunteers at a wildlife clinic that is always full of coons I agree. Kinda heartbreaking watching this guy not knowing what these “bugs” are at this age. I never understood the need to keep wild animals as pets. I enjoy saving these guys and releasing them back into the wild where they have absolute freedom instead of being cooped up in a man made house…To each their own 🤷🏼♀️
Gross I mean that cockroach was definitely hissing for his life. I think I'm going to go back and watch either the Cheetos one or the goldfish one just to help me forget about what I just saw
I just rescued my first baby raccoon who’s mom was hit by a car. How would you recommend going about getting her out of the play biting at this stage before it gets out of hand when she is older?
It looks to me that your raccoon partners are attempting to wash the bugs off,,,Im Curious to how they would eat the bugs,,along with a little water in their dish.just a little bit.
Yes wild ones do this as well when encountering new food because he's not necessarily playing with them more so remembering how they feel and smell so they can find the same food in the future
What looks like play is actually investigating. Their front paws contain sensory nerves humans do not possess. Their paw sensory nerves activate with moisture. Notice how they roll their food or bring it to the water.
His reaction to the roaches was priceless when they started hissing

I would never feel bad for a bug they can't be that smart and im not even sure they would have pain receptors
Bugs don’t die peacefully in their sleep in nature. This is natural. And quicker than freezing or starvation.
I’m not disturbed at all by an animal literally eating bugs. Lmao. This is what animals like this do.
