    Yay! I started watching and the thumbs up was at 199 so now I am 200 thumbs up that’s awesome! Great tips by the way top-notch just getting back to modeling after 43 years off could use a lot of help! You guys have so much nice stuff now that I never had. I know I know walked to school both ways uphill in a snowstorm. But this has come along way! Awesome!

    Great! I like the simplicity of application. Will try this technique on my RC truck..

    Lovely, I want to build an old truck with platina as well. Love those. Would it be possible to sand it with fine grit at the end to give a more down to scale roughness of the surface. I know rust make the surface rough on this panels, but I think it could be a bit smoother for a more realistic look..

    How do you "blend it in" you kept removing it from view and not showing how to do that. I am not a painter, you can't just assume everyone knows how to do that when you don't show it.

      The paint colors don't need to be specific. Some earth tones and maybe some orange and yellow for lighter rust color. Darker rust looks older and lighter rust looks most recent in my opinion. Expirement with colors and textures because the acrylic hobby paints are cheap enough.

    A little trick to get really good close up shots. Take a photo with a real camera and insert it into the video. You can really show the detail.

    Or just buy various rust tone paints and weathering powders to save you time with same results.

    • @CustomScaleModels
      @CustomScaleModels  5 років тому +1

      This is true but alot of people don’t/won’t spend the extra money on them and want a cheaper alternative. I use a mix of both on small projects I use rust tone paints but if I’m doing a big job I’ll just use this method.

      You can blend by dabbing with a sponge the same way he is applying the paint, try a separate dry sponge or you can dampen it a little with water. You will get a different look with each of those

  • @greggh.748
    @greggh.748 2 роки тому

    Seems like there was too many paint layers. Use different colors at the same application time. I've done it in 3, and I did used the cheap paints. 1st, base coat. 2nd , brown, black and yellow, (+ more). 3rd, rust color of your choice, ie, orange , turquoise, light green, white etc. You need to blend multi-colors to get that real weather effect.

      Or a bigger strip of paperboard. Made it almost impossible to pick up the tone after each application. Way too small.
