Never knew that the Dutch traveled to the Philippines to trade back in the 1600’s. That’s so cool! I’ve always wondered how Edam Cheese which is from the Netherlands became so popularly used in ensaymada. I thought this was a modern innovation. Had no idea it’s centuries old. No wonder our Filipino food is so tasty! We have always been an adaptable group of people - melting pot of flavors in our culture!!! 😋
