      This guitar should be put into production, very simplistic yet versatile guitar, more guitars like this by Crimson, please. :)

      What did you do about the action in the end? It looked suspiciously like you hadn't pitched the neck back at quite enough of an angle and were pretty much out of adjustment on the tune-o-matic supports. Was thinking either counter sinking the bushes a bit to give you a little more depth or taking the neck off again and putting a bit more angle on it. Enquiring mind(s) want to know 😉

    I really feel like you have taken the "x hour build" to it's logical conclusion. Thank you for these videos. I wonder how many people would find a hand tool only build supremely interesting and beneficial? I can't be the only one building in a garage with no band saw.

      This. I'd love to see a guitar built without using a router or any other power tools, just for those paupers like me who'd love to have a go at building something but don't have the money to invest in tools.

      Ive just finished a hand tool build (although its from a cheap 2nd hand shop bought strat into a customized shape so not from scratch) but still, all hand tools and elbow grease..... sanding was the bane of my existence; well, until I started editing the video's which is the bane at the moment, wish i had an apprentice and a media dept lol.

    Thank you for the great video! I love watching guitar builds, but what I loved most about this one is...aside from battery changes and cameraman changes every 30 minutes or so....was that you worked all the way through. No fast forwarding or skipping past something that I may not catch or even understand what or why you're doing what you're doing. While there's nothing wrong with "cutting the fat", so to speak, I loved that I got to see every part of this build, even if the time crunch didn't allow you to spend as much time as you might have wanted in certain areas. That alone was worth spending 6 hours of my own time. Well done and thanks again. I'm only interested in building as a hobbyist, but wow do I feel more informed and confident in what I might be able to do now.

    I think the back of the guitar looks a bit better than the front with the oil. I'm amazed you got it playing in less than 6 hours. Please make a video where you explain what techniques you only did for speed and wouldn't do at a normal pace.

    That's beautiful. I've been drawn in the past to guitars with interesting wiring looms, with coil taps, multiple pickups, in and out of phase switches and all that cobblers but this with the pickup wired straight to the output jack... is genius. Yes there's some practicality issues but like an acoustic there's nowhere to hide with this and the fundamental tone is amazing (putting the pup in the neck position gives a smooth organic tone). A go-to guitar for songwriting. Nice one.

    Well done Ben you've looked happier during this build than anything else you've done since the last build, including other kinds of woodworking. The absence of any knobs helps the look because nothing breaks the lines of the cracks in the wood. I recently re-watched the podcast where someone asked about building an oak guitar (#116 I think) I take it you've revised your opinion slightly.

    I'd like to see an entire team of lutiers a guitar in 3 hours each building one piece of the build one builds the neck to finish one builds the body to finish one makes the inlays another makes the wiring harness and pickup all working off comunication and plans it would be an interesting team project

    • @asefvdfzbzdfbz
      @asefvdfzbzdfbz 7 років тому +12

    Brilliant series of videos Ben. I guessed 5:59 on the nose... As a player I've always wondered how to build one by hand and now I know how it's done. I watched it all today and was impressed by the bumbling lack of preparation which gave the whole thing an authentic, designed and built-from-scratch feel. It was exhausting just watching so, kudos mate on a great effort. Although it looked great I would have preferred the back as the face side, wasn't keen on the cracks showing, and wouldn't want an axe without knobs on, sorry... but thanks anyway.

  • @DavidSJ_DAP
    @DavidSJ_DAP 7 років тому

    After watching the entire build there is no doubt in my mind that a 3 or 4 hour build is more than possible...there were many instances where proper planning and preparation would have saved time...if you spent time before the build preparing bins with the necessary tools and supplies needed for each step instead of losing time looking for or sending for needed tools and other items I'm sure you could pull off a "bog standard" T-type guitar build in 4 hours or less...
