Hello.....this may sound like a stupid question....and I know each system has it's own requirements. But I would like to know what makes or how did u acquire the label of Grandmaster? I have always been under the impression that a GM was one at the very top of a system......Say someone that has invented or produced something......not someone that took something already invented that someone else thought them.......I hope this question is not taken as mean spirited....that is the last thing I am trying to do.....I only as because I see a lot of people online with the title of GM and they look in my opinion like GM = Great Miracles in their movements as well as explanations of their art.....Not that u look or explain anything like them.....thanks for taking the time to read my question

    Cool trivia time.
The item under the name "Bo" translates to staff. It originally came from Okinawa and was adopted into Japanese martial arts. The bow on the other hand shoots arrows. So remember the Bo is staff and a Bo Staff is staff staff.

Dude, my dream is to spin a staff. I watched one video and pratised for a hour on my own outside. Now I can spin fast and behind my back and without knowing it I learned how to do the one finger roll on my own. It’s cool to know how to do it completely.
Edit: I usually add a normal roll to it and I usually use it before I start and after.

Are there any videos that actually show "HOW" to use a staff? I learned years ago (probably before you were even born) how to actually use one for defense. There was some spinning and such but now I hardly see it being used for it's real purpose. Also, if you learned staff/bo then anything similar could be used as a weapon...a mop, a broom, a rolled up magazine etc.

    • @SenseiIchi

That depends on a few factors. Are we rolling with our fingers or hands. With hands there are a few ways to do it. There is a butterfly grip and a hand over hand, which are the most common. There is a way to mix/combo this finger roll into a butterfly grip, which I can make a video on if you'd like.
