    What a rush. Cheeky, dirty, swaggering riffs and a mighty end-of-the-world chugging groove you either dance or fight to, maybe both. What a lineup this was. I hate the supergroup thing, it usually stinks of decadent decline to me. Except when it's Josh Homme at the nucleus, then it's vital and life affirming.

    Grohl acceleration gives the songs, no other drummer has succeeded. For example, Monster in the parasol sounds really spectacular compared to the live versions of the tour Rated R.

      Yeah, I am trying to understand wihch Ampeg head is the black one. It looks like some Vh model from back then (maybe vh-140c), but the camera jumps makes this impossible.

      Dont blame the cameramen, they did their job. This is clearly edited, and not live, otherwise the cuts on Tension wouldn't be that good, so blame the editor.

    I welled up when they started cheering at 10:49. Introducing a completely new song to the audience, and instead of headbanging the whole way through, they were just transfixed in awe, you don't truly realise it until the end.

    This actually wasn't Brendon's last show, it was the show after this, at Coachella. That show Chris Goss played second guitar as well and they played a cover of Allens Wrench by Kyuss as the last song.. The show after that in Atlanta was the first on the pre Deaf tour and was the first show with Troy Van Leeuwen.

    • @pufflelover1
      @pufflelover1 9 років тому +2

      +Carlo Von Sexron who would have played lead and lap steel on the record then? brendon isnt in the album credits IIRC, so would it be troy or brendon?

    • @acarlovonsexron1994
      @acarlovonsexron1994 9 років тому +4

      Prepsi Of TDU2 Pretty much all the guitars were done by Josh on the record, Alain did a lot of the weird stuff like flamenco guitar, Dean Ween had some guest leads because Josh dug him so much, but Brendan supposedly did play the lead on Go With the Flow, purely because it was the best take. Brendan was technically in Queens the whole recording time, but it seems he was just more of a hired gun than a collaborative member. Dave Catching played that part before him. It was Josh and Nick and later to an extant Mark's band.

    • @pufflelover1
      @pufflelover1 9 років тому +2

      Carlo Von Sexron ok so if i understand correctly brendon was still around at the time of recording, just not actually doing anything, right? also, is it true that all the tracks were recorded with trautmann and they were ready to release until grohl came along? and why did millionaire and go with the flow have gene on drums instead of dave?

    • @acarlovonsexron1994
      @acarlovonsexron1994 9 років тому +6

      Prepsi Of TDU2 Correct on Brendan. Gene left after recording a few songs, Go With the Flow, Millionaire, and I think attempted versions of Do it Again, God Is in the Radio, Gonna Leave You, and maybe A Song for the Deaf. Josh pushes his drummers pretty hard, so I don't know if he out and out quit, or just left to do other things. But Dave came in and was there for the rest of the album being wrote and helped that out on that on top of being a rock solid drummer that drove the whole thing. Gene has more of a garage rock swing thing going on, which is great, but Deaf became a lot more focused with Dave. As for why they kept those two songs with Gene, they just worked better. There's a few clips of Dave playing Go With the Flow live, and it just isn't as smooth. Millionaire I kind of question, it seems a lot more solid and harder hitting than the clips of Gene playing it live. I thought it might actually be Dave playing, but the liner credits say otherwise.

    Man I was at this show. Tickets were only sold at the venue so I had to get there at 4am to get in line. I was maybe the 20th person. At some point a few of us dozed off and some older Mexican dude in an older convertible pulled up blasting appetite for destruction and it woke every one up! For anyone wondering this concert was included in the special edition of Songs for the deaf.

      @DT24K 4 роки тому +1

      Adam albright yes I have the entire show but just by audio, I think... not sure if I have it on video but defntly for sure have it on cd. They played a setlist of around 18-20 songs during this performance. Been a long time since I’ve listened to it but know for sure I have it in my collection at home. Which actually is a pretty massive collection of live shows/bootlegs of just QOTSA alone which are all either made up of CD, DVD, VCD & even VHS. I say that bcos I’ve done an over-extremely amount of hunting, spending, trading and downloading going all the way back to what, April 1993?! Obviously as you can see, QOTSA is 1 of the 6 all-time favorite groups of mine that I’ve spent a countless amt of time (& money) towards obtaining any/all of whichever groups’ concerts/shows/appearances/interviews, unreleased audio/video studio rehearsal footage, unreleased tracks & demos etc etc etc... So u see...? After all that long ass rambling I just did, you could maybe understand about whether or not I’m sure of hvng a certain show or not and if so, then which format is it in as well.
      Btw, apologies for the response to be given to ya in ‘multiple chapters’! I’m sure you could’ve settled for it to be in just a simple sentence or two!🤷🏻‍♂️
