    Just had one of these as a rental for a trip around New Zealand. It’s a fantastic car: rugged good looks, buckets of space, ‘go anywhere’ ability and plenty of power. I must also mention the grooved bonnet, which provides really good reference points for placing the car exactly where you want it on the road. We fell in love with it and were sad to give it back at the end of the trip!

    There's an old Aussie saying - if you want to go into the outback, go in a Land Rover...
    if you want to come back, go in a Toyota

    A workhorse, a classic, and does what it says on the tin. Decades of use. Not least by the UN, Armies and Farmers of course. No nonsense and classless. Yes its not eco, simply not possible. As for the light coloured interior? Why? Farmers would laugh....indeed comment below sums it up! Id go Hi Luxx pick up every time. Thanks Mark, another true and honest review.

    Company I worked with gave me a commercial LWB auto Landcruiser a few years back, needed if for the hauling tools & parts. It was fantastic on back roads and off road, but a big, wallowing pig on main roads and motorways, slow and thirsty which was 90% of my driving; changed it for a commercialised CX5 AWD which was a much better fit, great to drive, decent awd, ,fairly light on diesel-until the turbo decided to implode.. €80k would get a decent spec'd new Defender 110 hardtop (the four seaters start at about €85k). A lot more refined on road, and just as capable off, and comes with a lot more kit as standard. Though if I was keeping after the warranty was up, Toyota hands down.

      It’s the test of time that really wins it as you say!

      Thats 80k for the 110 commercial? The 5 door (110) defender is a horrific looking thing in my opinion, looks way too ostentatious and screams drug dealer. They made a balls of it for me. The basic 3 door with steel wheels is the only one that looks like a proper jeep should. With land rovers dreadful reputation for reliability I wouldnt touch one over a landcruiser.

    My only complaint after owning 2 over a 16-year period is the rear door! They should have made it like the Amazon that goes up & down

      While I do prefer a split tailgate, I actually do like these swingy ones. It allows for loads of neat camping mods, like a flip down table to make coffee on. Also, as a lanky indiot, I can't bang my head on these swing doors.

    An amazing 4x4 jeep but business or commercial they lack the more modern touches to just keep it fresh some nice DRL’s, Xenon Lights/Fogs and a good selection of optional accessories to custom to each drivers requirements, however hail, rain, sleet or snow ⛄️ they are as reliable as the day is long 👌🏻

    • @markwood7045

      I don't want xenons, DRLs, or any accessories. I'm glad this car exists as it is.

    It the car of choice for overlanding in Australia. reliability is #1 and you won't find a LandRover dealer with 1000 km of the outback if it breaks.

    A workhorse with cream upholstery! My mucky spaniel would LOVE jumping in and out of that lovely light coloured trim in the boot. This will see more service as a fekkin Terenure Tractor. Where they're very concerned about environmental impacts. Hope your cold gets better soon, Nobby.

      Oh, yeah ... drove the J40 Landcruisers on gas line installs, in the '80s - now, THAT was a workhorse. No creamy upholstery there! This thing though, is a fairy's unicorn 😂

      If you've got a mucky dog don't get the cream interior then. Or get a liner and clean it.

      @@ln5747 Yeah - cream interior in a “utility vehicle” ??! Not much utility apart from the supermarket run. Waste of resources. OaO.

    No Nav? The Irish versions of Toyotas were known as a lower spec than the UK models. I moved over over and back in 2008-2009 and took a Hilux Invincible over, registered it etc. A Guy from Limerick ripped my hand off for it and I had phone calls telling me off for selling it so cheap. I got what I paid for it having had it for over 3 years. The road tax rules in ROI are different from the UK with commercial classifications being available for the 2 door versions and the Hilux models. For that model on show it is very expensive for Road Tax due to the number of seats.

  • @terrydelahunt842
    @terrydelahunt842 2 роки тому +11

    They are fantastic but the spec on this for the money is very poor. No adaptive cruise, no blind spot, not even sure it has android auto? Bit harsh to call them a terenure tractor. You could buy one of these and never have to buy another car again.

    • @NobbyOnCars
      @NobbyOnCars  2 роки тому +3

      Blind spot is definitely something it should have for the price alright.

      @@NobbyOnCars the Invincible spec have the full safety sense pack, but you dont see any of them here. I think its called Platinum spec in Ireland, Invincible in the uk.

      In Australia they have all those things. They also have LED headlights.
      Some models have centre and rear diff locks, a fridge under the centre arm rest, and crawl control for ascent/decent of tough terrain in a “cruise control” fashion - just steer.

      @@ETS2-yf5jf is that in Australia? The gx is the commercial version in Ireland, and is very low spec.

    Seems a 10 year old land cruiser buyer gets all the advantages of the build quality, yet the person who bought it new, had no toys or luxuries to help smooth the asking price.
