PS5 New Firmware Adds 3D Audio Does It Work With Logitech Z906 Surround Sound System

- Sony released its long awaited Firmware update to the PS5 console. Some pretty cool new features added, M2 SSD which I have installed already check it out here: • PS5 SSD Firmware Updat...
But more importantly they have added a new 3D Surround Sound, which turns your TV Speakers to 3D Surround Sound. I decided to test this new feature with the Logitech Z906 Surround Sound System.

I now have these speakers wow amazing sound when using ps5 ,Disney plus ,UA-cam etc ,watching films listening to music, excellent bass 🙂

Sweet setup, i just ordered myself the Z906 as well. It'll be an awesome step up from my current setup of a soundbar + rear satelite speakers.
But may I suggest spreading your front speakers further apart. Currently you have them really close like a soundbar would be. You have front sound and rear sound when you could be more surrounded by the sound and get better directional audio as a result.
Hi thank you, I will most definitely give it a try. I was limited to space as you can see in the video the TV cabinet is small. I might get some speaker stands so I can have the two front speakers more apart. The system is awesome and comes with a good amount of speaker cables.

@@fall-neckthetallneck2977is the bass deep enough like can it shake/rattle ur house and how is the sound from the satellite speakers? idk why but they seem weak cause oof their size and hows the general sorround sound experience
@@los.pollos The bass is very strong, can rattle walls and the volume from the satelite speakers is pretty loud. I have some hearing damage(tinnitus), 50% volume is plenty loud enough and I had to turn the bass down so the China cabinets glass in the other room wouldn't shake.

bro isnt the "3D audio for tv speaker" + linearPCM-option for built-in tv-speakers? The Z906 can decode Bitstreams itself so shouldnt you put the audio format to (DTS)?
The z906 can do ac3 (dolby digital) and dts. Pcm is used in stuff like dolby atmos if I'm not wrong.
Do you use DD or DTS output signal from PS5? My LG TV (CX) does not support/passthrough DTS signal, so I’m stuck with DD, still pretty decent 5.1 though.., whichone did you use?
I did as you do, the sound is supposed to be 3D but it seems empty. It sounds strange

Where are your 2 other speakers? Do you have them mounted on a stand or on the wall? Do the cables reach that far?
Hi yes the two rear speakers are behind me on a speaker stand. The supplied speaker cable which came with the sound system is very long and will easily help place the rear speakers where needed. If it’s not enough you can purchase some standard speaker wire from an audio shop depending the length you need and these will work too👌
Hey, im planning to get in the near future 4K TV, PS5 and Z906, and i've read there are some lags in sound if speakers are connected to the tv. There are some audio extractors but with hdmi 2.0 and then half of ps5 goodies are locked like 120hz, HDR. So if i will get this speakers and connect them via optical cable into tv and ps5 to tv all will work fine? Will 5.1 sound work and without lag?
Hello, thank you for your question. So at the moment the system works perfectly fine with my PS5: I have an Optical Audio connection from the Z906 directly into my TV. I then have changed the PS5 output audio settings and selected the speakers and the range and it works great with full surround sound and crystal clear audio. The added sub makes all games extra loud 😁

hello, can you get real 5.1? Does the "decode" function turn on in the z906 console?
It's work on my ps4 but i can't get it to work for the ps5 if you get a work please let me konw .
Is it possible to connect the ps5 to tv (HDMI) and from tv connect with an optical cable to the Logitech to extract the audio ?
Are you using the optical cable? I hear the HDMI is so much better I'm afraid to get the z906 because of that and it's been out so long.
Hi, so the system as you mentioned has been out a long time. Only had x2 rear optical audio connections. It doesn’t have any HDMi output connection. So you can only use optical audio or AUX connections.
@@kavthegamer right thanks for the fast reply! I'm nervous to get it because with the technology this day in age you might lose sound quality with that system because it only has an optical connection not HDMI. Am I just thinking to much of it and this system wl be just fine being ran on optical.
@@Ryan_2914 I know what you mean. Tbh using Optical Audio connection is very good as the signal uses the optical red laser light which you can see once plugged in. So far I’ve had no issues it produces a very good surround sound. You can purchase more expensive sound-bars or home cinema systems which offers other connections. But for the price point especially if it’s on offer, It’s very good. I have the optical audio connection direct to the TV so I don’t need to keep reconnecting it to different devices such as PS5 or an X Box.

Hi I use a Digital Optical Audio cable. It is the only cable you can use to connect the Logitech to via TV

Hi sorry for late reply, you can get some sound bars which have Dolby Atmos 3D surround which would be pretty sick mixed with the PS5 3D Audio. But they are quite expensive at the moment. Sony have stated that it will turn your standard TV speakers into 3D audio I haven’t tried this so I can’t comment on if it’s good. But mixed with a sound system like the Logitech it’s awesome 👏 a normal soundbar would be very good too, better than TV speakers and probably more noticeable then using standard TV speakers.

R u using the digital out in your tV? Or r u sing the Hdmi adaptor with digital out..because ps5 do not have digital out port..
Hi yes I am using a digital output into the TV directly into the Logitech Sound System the PS5 has no optical audio output only HDMI
well, youtube support only stereo sound, so... I don't know what are you checking...
This Dolby atmos DTS and whatever click bite you see tests on UA-cam is just a joke you know...

I use Optical Audio connection and then the PS5 settings to adjust the audio output. Very simple and easy.
The z906 already has a a 3d mode when not decoding
I have a z906 and yes its amazing better then any soundbars iv had and full Yamaha avr big home theatre package
Unfortunately I don't play playstaton any more had a ps4 pro in z906 and was amazing with games I use it's now for music and as home cinema for my movie collection 😀

Hi, so the only connection behind the Logitech is x2 optical audio connections and AUX connection green one and. Orange and Black Aux connection ports. No HDMi connection

Hi please help how do i connect it to my computer i try with the green cable to headphone plugg on computer this worked with my old system but not with this then i only get sound in one computer what do i do whrong?
Hi thank you for your question, to make it work with your PC. You can either use a Optical Audio output on the back of your computer most new motherboards have one that would be the easiest way. Or you can use the green cable but you would need a green and the black aux cable and then this adapter to plug into your PC green aux port.

@@kavthegamer so i use the black and green cable of the black, green and orange cable and i buy this and put green and black into this and this cable into the headphone gate at pc ? Thank you
@@Johndoe-qn9jr hi yes so if you put the green and black cable into the adapter then the other end into your computer green audio/aux port it should make all the speakers play together with no issues. If you have an optical audio connection on your computer use this cable it’s much easier.

@@Johndoe-qn9jr Hi John sorry for the late replies, hmmm strange normally that should of solved the issue with the sound. If you go into the speaker/sound settings on windows you may need to select 5.1 surround channel it may be set to default by Windows for only two speakers. Hopefully it’s a simple setting change for it to work 🙏
Dude how did you hook the Z906 to the ps5 ?!
I used an Optical Audio cable from the Logitech into the back of the Philips Hue TV as it has an optical audio output. I then had to go on the TV settings and turn the tv speakers off and output via Optical Audio. The PS5 for some reason doesn’t have an optical audio connection 🙈🙈 only HDMi

This is dumb. You are testing a functionality that is designed for the 2.0 TV speakers, when you have a real 5.1 setup. Please guys if you have z906 connected through optical output of tv: put the tv on bitstream and console in av speakers and bitstream dolby. If you are using a 2.1 hdmi switcher to optical put the ps5 in pcm linear.
Please don't buy this sound system.
You will loss your valuable money if you buy Logitech z906 system if you don't know these.
1. You don't get any spare parts if it get repaired to fix it in india or anywhere in online for Logitech things like , main board, power circuit, subwoofers , speakers etc.
2. The PCB is made with the SMT "surface mouth technology" and can not be fixed by local electronic service man.
3. You need to take this system to service center if any repair come in india Logitech service is very very poor, very few service centers are there. And you need to travel with this heavy system from any distance even if your at 200km from it's service centre.
4. System is not user friendly since it's made with its own design thinking of trouble shooting methods.
5. At any time if any repair come to the system you need to scrap it and there is no 2nd option to fix it be ready for that.
6.logitech technical team or support team only tell you to go and visite service centre at any distance your from and they don't have door stop service like how boat and other brands do it.
7. Z906 is not good for songs it's has too heavy bass may be good for playing games you can not reduce bass.
I have one of this z906 sound system bought it for 26000rs and it's not working just idol and no use of it since there is a problem in main board which can be fixed by only Logitech since it's made with SMD, SMT ,in PCB but there is no service center near by it's about 100+km far. And the service is again going to be costly. It would be like 700rs for the replacements over all transportation etc can cause you more lose.
Not so easy with Logitech so with my expeice am telling there are many people facing this issue with z906. It works good only for some days you don't know when it will stop working with subwoofer.
Logitech customer care just tell sorry we don't have service center near by your location and the parts are not available to help you.
