Had mine for 3 years now and going strong, I rarely have to take them up to 2/3 power as halfway is usually more than plenty and that subwoofer goes hard! 👍💪
a lot of people give these a hard time saying theyre trash but considering that for this price you get 5 speakers a sub and an amp for them too they are not bad at all for an average room they sound really good and the bass is shaking too,now of course these are not pro audio or not as good as a receiver/amplifier with some better brand speakers but still remember-THE PRICE+GOOD PERFORMANCE
I dont think so...if you add some extra bugs....you will get super quality speakers.... You can go for Yamaha or Sony....those are far better than this system...
The thing with Logitech is that they die really hard. I had a 30W RMS with 120W peak speakers 2.1 which I bought in 2004 and I still have them, the only problem now is the subwoofer volume button crackling when I turn it but when I find the right spot it stops crackling and the bass works fine, so imagine, after more than 14 years my Logitech 2.1 system is still alive. The above one gives a really good bass and the sound quality ofc it won't be like idk what Hi-Fi speakers but Logitech is way better than what's out on the market.
I have this speakers system did warranty exchange so many time. Negative side of this system is its SMPS. Once it burnt you have to through this system. So use a high voltage protector.
I've had these speakers for 3 and a half years, had many computer speakers (Creative G750, G500, Megaworks 550D, Logitech X-540/X-230/X-530/Z-2300/Z-5500/Z623/G51) and many others, but none have been so flawless and have survived so much with me!
On some of the z906 control pods there is a screw in center front leg, but there were no screws in mine (old version), just 6 clips - 3 on top & 3 on the bottom. There is a clip in the center on each side and a clip on each end on both sides just in a little from the ends. U open by using very thin precision flat blade screwdriver (or similar tool) & prize open the outer case from one end on the bottom because you WILL mark it. But u won't see the marks if they are on the bottom. When u get each clip open u have to leave something under the plastic case so it doesn't close up again on the front panel, then you move onto the next clip (I used small wooden ice-block sticks). Once you get all the bottom clips unhooked the top clips come apart easily without any tools.
I just bought these to replace a very old set of creative labs 5.1 speakers, so glad they have the toslink input to take the feed over from my HDMI switch

When you get distortion on the satellites, take out the drivers and carefully inspect around the foam surround where they attach to the frame. Lightly push down on the cone ( it will move past the bullet shaped focuser in the center) and you might see some cracks in the edge of the foam. These will cause nasty distortion at higher volume. You can buy speaker repair liquid in Amazon that you can brush over these cracks. Let it dry and it will stay flexible. I can't guarantee that it will work, but it's worth a try. Replacement speakers are hard to find. Good luck.
I have an older set of Logitech 5.1's... I've flat ran the brakes off them... sub started smoking they still sound awesome. They need a separate tweeter, but otherwise they're great! Of course, they discontinued them, but after seeing these 906's... I might have to get a set. Thanks for sharing!
Just got a refurbished set that has a blown sub. No problem with the quality of everything else so I ordered a DB Drive Euphoria to put in it. 😂 Will see the results when it arrives and start banging throughout the house.

Hey guys I’m hoping you can answer this. My Z906 woofer is extremely hot in the backplate even when no music is playing. Any insight into why this is it it this is normal? I understand what if I were playing loud music but this is just from being on and idle.

Great video it helped me out alot except for the background music. That is hands down the most annoying "background music" i've ever heard. It frustrated my girlfriend and i to the point where we literally started arguing with each other for no reason just four minutes and 15 seconds into the video.
1.5 years with this sound system and I'm really not complaining about what it offers at that price. The subwoofer is quite powerful despite being small. I have already told you previously in your videos that it is not 165w because at that power the coil begins to heat up. The amp is pretty powerful but I use it sparingly, I have put a couple of fans on the back of the amp to let the amp cool down a bit and they have helped keep the system cool and use it a bit more, it lacks a bit of treble and the sound is not so balanced when i turn the subwoofer level up to max as it goes way up and it will be damaged so i use the sub moderately at 50% and the experience in movies, music and games is great, set up the screen and my PlayStation for Dolby Audio and the "Decode" LED lights up when it detects dolby/Dts formats on streaming or gaming platforms, the experience is excellent. I have the JBL Bar 5.1 that has wireless surround and costs almost triple that of Logitech and the truth is another big difference. I have thought about buying the Logitech Z623/625 but I have seen that the Z625 have more failures on Amazon. Which ones do you recommend I buy? greetings and good video

I upgraded from Logitech z506 to z906, there is a huge difference in audio quality and power, especially at watching movies and tv shows that support dts and dolby atmos 5.1, like everything on netflix, it sounds magnificient, with a proper connection(optical audio cable, cooper 18 gauge audio cables, and sound card), the subwoofer is very powerfull, but not too powerfull to cover the small speakers, like it was on z5500..
Don´t buy a defectiv set hoping you could repair it. All PCB of powersupply and amplifier are full of this black or white goo so it is nearby impossible to exchange defect parts.

This z906 is plenty loud, but sadly, the treble leaves much to be desired, resulting in a relative lack of fine detail. Apparently Logitech cut costs by using only one driver to drive both mid and high frequency, resulting in strong mids but inability of the unoptimized driver to drive strong and accurate highs. A dedicated separate tweeter or even better, a coaxial driver for each satellite would have been ideal.

Logitech Z2300 are LEGEND. is best speaker system from logitech. subwoofer driver is look much better than z906 and z5500, subwoofer box also much stronger and sealed than z5500 and z906. (if you look at screw on back them have 24 ) and power transformer is a lite smaller maybe same than z5500 but z2300 powered 4 IC. 2 tda7295 bridge for subwoofer and 2 tda7296 for satelites. and z5500 powered 7ic TDA7294 . I have 3 z5500 and one z2300, and i love z2300. BTW that driver can handle more than 120w rms. I powered with DIY tda7294 bridge and handle very well

Not sure if this is still true, but I read a comment on another Logitech video that they use Tang Band drivers. Tang Band isn't a bad speaker manufacturer. In fact, they make very decent drivers for the DIY audio field. They do in fact make a similar full-range driver that looks the same as the ones used in the Z906. I also notice they make a similar 8 inch subwoofer driver as well. Tang Band isn't the best, but they are pretty damn good for what they are.
I also have seen some information about Tang Band drivers, but it's for Logitech z2300, that I think is one of best logitech 2.1 speakers, how about nowadays speakers, i don't know, there are no label on speakers.

You need to install some Heatsink behind the subwoofer on the metal plate. It helps to cool it down. same as they use on Raspberry Pie, but bigger and use Thermal paste, same has the one you find for installing CPU in new computer...

the amp on my 11 years old Microlab FC730 got fried from a power surge this Tuesday RIP. rather than buying a new amp for it (good luck finding one its rare AF) or buying a similar type of amp (aka an AV receiver - cheapest comparable one in functions to the FC730 is freaking 1000$) i decided to just buy a new set of 5.1 speakers with multiple inputs, turns out the 5.1 computer speaker market has turned completely stale in these past 11 years and the only speaker option with more than one audio inputs and real 5.1 support that's still available is the z906 so i ordered that as a replacement, i already know it's going to be amazing compared to my old FC730 (i mean seriously my ATP3's sounded better but were very limited practically for use as shelf speakers due to short proprietary cables and lack of multiple audio inputs.
@@Techscrews haha yeah i first looked into that, but no matter what kind of combination i tried at cheapest it would end up costing me 450-500$ combined, i just got the z906 for 350$ so that was significantly cheaper. i'm still going to fix that amp in my lab in my university though, these FC730's were THE bomb, if i can i'd use them on my flight sim rig instead of using headphones
i use my guitar in a 5 watts tubes amp ,which is plugged in a 1X12 jet city cab ,volume at 5 is equal to the Z906 at 10 ....i have to use a jack 3,5 mm to use it with my computer (not a laptop )....The sound is good but the surround function doesn't work normally ,the rear speakers have a problem in this position ,the 4,1 gives a good sound to my taste ...i send it back ,my old Sony 2X20 hi-fi system was at least as powefull ,if not more powerfull...They say 500 watts ,i don't know why they multiply the watts like that nowadays,it isn't too honest .....I send it back ,i have the Z 623 ,i would say that the Z 906 is 25% louder ,or 15 .....The sound quality is good .

I have the 623's (same thing as the 625 just missing optical input), they're basically the little brother version of this. I also have a Z-5500 set now, which is the big brother of both the 906 and the 623/625.

yes, it has standard plugs. It is rated (according to logitech) for 67 W. Not sure on the Ohm. I would not recommend doing that, the speakers are probably the weakest part of the set. Look for 3 way (sub/mids/tweeter) or mayb 2,5 way speakers (tweeters with 2 mids for better overlapping of the audio with seperate sub), they will give you a better quality. If you want small home theatre speakers I can recommend Harman Kardon SAT-TS60 and CEN-TS60 (or whole set HKTS 60 or 65 with wireless sub. I have those on my PC. The 30 series is also OK (SAT-TS30, CEN-TS30 or HKTS 30 set), although HKTS 60 is a bit better when directly compared. The 30 set is available in white, the 60 in black only, so maybe also a choice of taste and preference.

Have you checked that all your wires are connected right?

Update: Installed new subwoofer and wired it to 8 ohm. Best sounding surround sound system I've heard yet. Highly recommend.

if you dont need digital(optical toslink) inputs, but classic, analog input z623.
I've had my z623 about a year now and it's done me very well with no issues

just buy 3.5mm to 2x3.5mm adapter and then connect both speakers with 3.5mm cables :)

Apparently Logitech cut costs by using only one driver to drive both mid and high frequency, resulting in strong mids but inability of the unoptimized driver to drive strong and accurate highs. A dedicated separate tweeter or even better, a coaxial driver for each satellite would have been ideal.

I just got some jamo a102 satellite
3" speaker with aBuilt in tweeters
Hopfuly there go nice together
Specs are very close
My z906 satellites seems to cut off at 15000hz
These jamos are 150-20000hz
I am to believe
The amp can give the highs
But the logt sats
Can not deliver the sound to my ears
This is why I have trust issues. I just went through a series of 5.1 speakers and most I've seen, the affordable ones, have either a fake tweeter or no tweeter at all.

Can i get a motherboard replaced?.... it's really difficult getting one. The motherboard of my speakers easily heats up and turns off. Now its very difficult to use. It sometimes the whole system feels like a food in the oven

Hi! My logitech Z906 is not receiving signals from Center and Front speakers.
I tried reseting..For first 5 to 10 minutes everything places normally,Then front and center speaker crashes..
Only Rear and front speakers works.

The Z506 I have is close enough, and I'm convinced there's glue on the inside of the control speaker. Too afraid of breaking it to keep prying, though.
Logitech Z2300 are LEGEND. is best speaker system from logitech. subwoofer driver is look much better than z906 and z5500, subwoofer box also much stronger and sealed than z5500 and z906. (if you look at screw on back them have 24 ) and power transformer is a lite smaller maybe same than z5500 but z2300 powered 4 IC. 2 tda7295 bridge for subwoofer and 2 tda7296 for satelites. and z5500 powered 7ic TDA7294 . I have 3 z5500 and one z2300, and i love z2300. BTW that driver can handle more than 120w rms. I powered with DIY tda7294 bridge and handle very well

Not sure if this is still true, but I read a comment on another Logitech video that they use Tang Band drivers. Tang Band isn't a bad speaker manufacturer. In fact, they make very decent drivers for the DIY audio field. They do in fact make a similar full-range driver that looks the same as the ones used in the Z906. I also notice they make a similar 8 inch subwoofer driver as well. Tang Band isn't the best, but they are pretty damn good for what they are.
I also have seen some information about Tang Band drivers, but it's for Logitech z2300, that I think is one of best logitech 2.1 speakers, how about nowadays speakers, i don't know, there are no label on speakers.

You need to install some Heatsink behind the subwoofer on the metal plate. It helps to cool it down. same as they use on Raspberry Pie, but bigger and use Thermal paste, same has the one you find for installing CPU in new computer...

the amp on my 11 years old Microlab FC730 got fried from a power surge this Tuesday RIP.
rather than buying a new amp for it (good luck finding one its rare AF) or buying a similar type of amp (aka an AV receiver - cheapest comparable one in functions to the FC730 is freaking 1000$) i decided to just buy a new set of 5.1 speakers with multiple inputs, turns out the 5.1 computer speaker market has turned completely stale in these past 11 years and the only speaker option with more than one audio inputs and real 5.1 support that's still available is the z906 so i ordered that as a replacement, i already know it's going to be amazing compared to my old FC730 (i mean seriously my ATP3's sounded better but were very limited practically for use as shelf speakers due to short proprietary cables and lack of multiple audio inputs.
best way is just grab some second hand AV receiver for suroudn and some aliexpress mono block amp for subwoofer - Done.
@@Techscrews haha yeah i first looked into that, but no matter what kind of combination i tried at cheapest it would end up costing me 450-500$ combined, i just got the z906 for 350$ so that was significantly cheaper.
i'm still going to fix that amp in my lab in my university though, these FC730's were THE bomb, if i can i'd use them on my flight sim rig instead of using headphones

i use my guitar in a 5 watts tubes amp ,which is plugged in a 1X12 jet city cab ,volume at 5 is equal to the Z906 at 10 ....i have to use a jack 3,5 mm to use it with my computer (not a laptop )....The sound is good but the surround function doesn't work normally ,the rear speakers have a problem in this position ,the 4,1 gives a good sound to my taste ...i send it back ,my old Sony 2X20 hi-fi system was at least as powefull ,if not more powerfull...They say 500 watts ,i don't know why they multiply the watts like that nowadays,it isn't too honest .....I send it back ,i have the Z 623 ,i would say that the Z 906 is 25% louder ,or 15 .....The sound quality is good .

I have the 623's (same thing as the 625 just missing optical input), they're basically the little brother version of this. I also have a Z-5500 set now, which is the big brother of both the 906 and the 623/625.

These 500w rms maybe they get, but at 10% THD, at real HiFi level at 0,01% THD they produce not more than 100w rms

yes, it has standard plugs. It is rated (according to logitech) for 67 W. Not sure on the Ohm. I would not recommend doing that, the speakers are probably the weakest part of the set. Look for 3 way (sub/mids/tweeter) or mayb 2,5 way speakers (tweeters with 2 mids for better overlapping of the audio with seperate sub), they will give you a better quality. If you want small home theatre speakers I can recommend Harman Kardon SAT-TS60 and CEN-TS60 (or whole set HKTS 60 or 65 with wireless sub. I have those on my PC. The 30 series is also OK (SAT-TS30, CEN-TS30 or HKTS 30 set), although HKTS 60 is a bit better when directly compared. The 30 set is available in white, the 60 in black only, so maybe also a choice of taste and preference.
