Be aware that there is substantial latency when using dolby and less with dts, and little to no latency with linear pcm, however there is a catch. Linear pcm as mention is superior to any due to latency and the fact that it's raw. The problem is, is that if you connect your ps5 to a non-hdmi 2.1 capable reciever, your pcm signal will be reduced to 2 channel instead of the full 7 channel mix. This is because the older hdmi spec on the reciever cannot handle the full bandwidth needed to carry the full linear pcm signal. This is why, in this scenario, that when you turn on dolby it sounds better than pcm(again bc it's being down sampled to 2 channel), but then you have latency(processing overhead). If you were connected to a hdmi 2.1 capable reciever you'd get full audio resolution and no latency which is obviously the uncompromising best case configuration. In summary the best audio will be attained from liner pcm + hdmi 2.1 capable receiver, a wired headset via usb(this is expensive and difficult for people), or the Sony headphones. A good middle ground is DTS + a less than 2.1 reciever where you still get latency, but less than dolby, and better audio quality than liner pcm down sampled to 2 channel. Worse audio configuration is headphone jack on the controller, but no percievable latency. Hopefully that's not too confusing. Sony half requires you to be an audio engineer to understand what configuration is the ideal configuration instead of providing proper literature. Update 1-9-2025: Sony has since released Dolby Atmos. If you don't have an HDMI 2.1 spec reciever, just use Dolby Atmos, latency is imperceptable and you'll still get great surround.
Thank you so much for sharing this information, I didn't know some of them and it helped my knowledge, I appreciate it! Soon, I'll be testing the delay for each mode, with a sound extractor, and I'll consider your notes for the video, thanks again.
So, all this time I've been thinking I was listening to 3D audio, I use a 2K Monitor with Hdmi 2.0 and using PCM Linear, with the Sony Pulse 3D. What do setting do you recommend me to use then?
Because if this comment I literally just retested it just now using Horizon Forbidden west. Yes, there is latency between the time a full bow charge chime places through the controller and the time it takes for the receiver to play the sound. The moment its switch to PCM the delay goes away.
@@CrissJrTheBeatMaker You'll get full resolution with the Sony Pulse 3D headset, leave it on PCM. The problem starts occurring when you send the signal to a device that cannot handle the full bandwidth of the linear PCM signal. This can be seen when viewing what type of signal is being received, by the receiver and what mode it goes into. You may not be able to see this on your monitor however. For you the regular sony headset will offer the best experience unless you have an HDMI 2.1 spec receiver.
after 2 years of owning lg c2 oled i opened dolby atmos on ps5. man the sound from tv became so impressive suround. i now know positioning in games from tv speakers it is amazing
I have Playstation 3d pulse and audeze penrose headphones. I switched to Dolby Atmos and didn't notice much difference from using linear pcm but when I switched to my Audeze Penrose they were definitely louder than before using the Dolby Atmos selection
Hi, aside from being louder, do you feel the height level from games is different than 3D Audio? If not, there's not much of a difference overall (as there is not actually for headphones.)
@DanielZH yes I feel more immersed in single player games and racing games. For fps games it really didn't help because everything was louder and footsteps were even harder to extinguish but maybe adjusting the penrose eq might help. But my question is, why do you think the Playstation 3d pulse didn't get access to the extra power that the Audeze penrose is getting? I'd say it's a 20 to 25 percent increase in volume
@@SeVeN42095 True, Pulse 3D is overall quieter on PS5 even compared to PC, I'm not sure why, but even when you max all EQ frequencies it's still 10-15dB quieter, maybe they did it on propose or maybe it's just because of EQ to not go over 0dB.
@@DanielZH when i use my steelseries nova pro wireless... i get a lot more volume on the pc than ps5 aswell... using the sonar app there is no sonar app for the ps5 would be cool if you could do a custom version for this headset for the ps5
@hanp2205 I'm using the hyper x 7.1 dongle with 7.1 headphones and both increase the background sounds and I didn't notice any big differences in either dts ,linear pcm, dolby or dolby atmos ,although dolby atmos may have a higher range of highs and lows but that's it all are the same with surround sound .
Finally, the first channel that talks about sound, the only thing that really matters to me. Everyone talks about fps, 4k and I do feel alone (? 😹 I'm not interested on video, I can play pretty fine with 1080p, but, DTS is a *must* for me. Thank you for this. Suscribed!
@DanielZH Glad to read that, nobody answered my questions about audio and you literally made a whole video telling everything what I needed. Greetings from Mexico 🤝 🇲🇽 ✨

Thank you very much for this content that you provide. I am one of your biggest fans and follow all your content. Unfortunately, when I had the Xbox, I found the Atmos sound very nice, but in the PS5 Pro, the sound is uneven and close to bad. What do you advise me to do to experience optimal sound, especially since I own a Samsung 990C sound bar?
if your soundbar supports Dolby Atmos or Dolby Audio Decoding, then you can use it, otherwise, Linear PCM may sound better, don't forget that even if your soundbar supports Dolby atmos, you still may get better results with linear PCM depending on the game you're playing.
@@cipriandjbril I suggest trying both, as each soundbar may produce audio differently, try Dolby Atmos for 10 minutes then switch to DTS and see which sounds better, as the PS5 tempest 3D isn't good in all games.
Hello friend Danial. I bought a HDMI Switch with audio extractor to deal with the lack of the SPDIF port on the new consoles. It is working fine and it took me a while to figure it out. The only thing that still tickles me is that I do not know what audio format is being extracted by the SPDIF out? This SPDIF is then connected to my Astros TR through the digital in of course and my headphones are connected to the Astros. All my HDMI inputs are coming from the PS5 and Xbox Series X and in bitstream format but I am not sure if the Astros are receiving it in bitstream or even if the HDMI switch SPDIF port is getting the bitstream? Do you have any idea my friend or anyone in here guys? Thanks for all the nice videos and keep them coming.
i have a 2k monitor and 2.1 hdmi, for warzone and racing games is best the pcm linear or another one?(i have logitech g pro x cabled as headphone) great video anyway🔥
great video as always. based on the tests on warzone, in terms of audio quality for the steps do you think it is better to use EQ with dolby atmos or EQ with linear pcm?
Hi, I personally use Dolby Atmos as it helps with high frequencies to reduce them a bit and not get a headache, aside from that, in the last test Dolby had 1-2dB more compression on average (Due to Treble compression) so it was better for me overall.
Hi, you have to use the format supported by your device to decode so it can get a correct channel output and features, most headphones accept stereo input and the processing is done on PS5 for 3D Audio not the headset, usually recommended to use Linear PCM unless you have issues (for headphones) or looking for something else.
So i just purchased a pair of astro a50s the main game i play is a fps call rainbow six siege i play on ps5 what is the the best way to set up the audio i also have the hdmi adapter for the astros
@maddoxsetser3749 I have a40s and mix amp. i use a custom 3D sound setting on the ps5. I don't know if you have a mix amp if so, look up the zeference eq settings or the astro home has game specific settings you can't beat it imo. Linear pcm is the best for gaming.
Hi, Inzone series can't apply and Transfer EQ for PS5 nor any EQ options, did they add EQ for them? I'm gonna cover the new Pulse series instead of Inzone.
Hey your video ist very informative! 👍🏻 What audio format and settings would you recommand to me with my Samsung Q990B surround sound setup? I noticed a sound delay when im on Dolby Atmos/Dolby Audio btw 😅
Hi, this soundbar supports multichannel and Dolby Atmos, if it's connected to your TV wirelessly, you must ensure your TV can support wireless Dolby Atmos audio output, and not every TV supports that, Dolby Atmos overall is for this soundbar if it can decode it depending on your TV model and how you connected it.
Wow, great video! I mostly play Warzone in Call of Duty. Would you still recommend these settings for PS4 Sony Playstation Platinum Wireless Headset 7.1 Surround Sound? I am using them with my PS5.
Your videos are music to my ears when it comes to specifics and what not. Sometimes you're too smart for me lol. I have to ask you a simple question. For someone with a PS5 and the Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 super amp headset... What specific audio settings do you recommend for headphones. I'm currently on 3D enabled (default) with Dolby Atmos.
Hi, thanks, there is a lot to learn about audio! about Turtle Beach headset, I'd recommend Linear PCM with 3D on or off depending on the game, for example Spider-Man 2 or Returnal has a great 3D Audio support, Dolby is not needed when using a headset as long as the game uses a Tempest 3D Engine at its base (Most of PS5 Games)
I have three options connecting my ps5 to amplifier running a 2.0 setup. First option is to use a usb to optical adapter to smp. Second option is, to use usb-c to usb-b to amp. Third option is run optical or of tv to amp. Which do you think is the most efficient/give me better sound production? All comments appreciated.
Hey, I love your vids, keep them coming. As a noob in your area of expertise I'd like to ask you what is your advice for my situation. I have hyperx 7.1 headset but curently I am using Truthear Zero x Crinical IEM and I love them. My current setup for warzone 2 are Zero IEM connected via joystick and I am using stereo option with linear PCM. I am quite satisfied with it but I wanted to check with you if you have any advice to up my sound quality i game.
Hi, thanks, yes I'd prefer Stereo in 95%+ of the games, only returnal and deadspace are really good. nothing (in a stereo system) will sound like a real surround sound system.
Typically lower dynamic range modes like TV mode or soundbar mode in games! +Linear pcm in most cases unless you have a soundbar that supports dolby and your TV can passthrough it
Great video. Entertaining content so had to sub! Can you plz do a video testing out the astro a40tr on warzone at 1440p & 120hz? Find the best audio settings from dolby audio, atmos and pc. Astro says to use dolby audio but playstation has recently added atmos so it could be better maybe 😊
Hi, thanks, I'll look into it, I plan to support more headphones and settings, but there are a lot of models people ask for so I'm not sure which to get first and they're not cheap!
@damesdamo Hi, how do you use astro a40 with 1440p 120hz? I use a 1440p 144hz with two hdmi 2.0 cable and the ps5 have a limit to 1080p 120hz Sorry for my bad english anyway
@gabstr You need a hdmi audio extractor to use the a40tr at 1440p 120hz, I will send the link below. It's what I use for my astros to work at 1440p 120hz
Thanks for the video man very informative. However I have a question. I have a Sony oled a80L with a Sony ht-a3000 soundbar and also have the rear speakers with the sub for the setup. What would you recommend for my sound settings? Btw I’m using an audio quest ocean cable for the ps5 to the tv which does support 4k-10k with 48gbps but with my sound bar I have an older audio quest cable which is the chocolate with high speed Ethernet, I plan on grabbing another ocean for the soundbar since it supports 2.1 with the 48gbps if It’ll work better then with the chocolate cable, so if you know I’d like your suggestion on that too. I also use the Sony inzone earbuds from time to time and if you can help me with the proper settings for that I’d really appreciate it. Thanks for your time….
What about for Blu-rays though? Does the 3D audio and/or Atmos work when watching Blu-rays with a headset (connected via USB)? I can't seem to get a clear answer on this, or just exactly what the best settings to use would be in general when using a headset for Blu-rays.
Currently, I don't think this update adds support to Blu-ray as sony didn't mention it anywhere, it seems to be used as a method to turn Tempest 3D Audio into Dolby format for other devices, even if it supports Blu-ray Dolby someday, I think it'll be used for speakers, not for headphones unless that blu-ray disc has a native mix for headphones (which is less likely on PS5) as on PC we have apps and optimizations on app level for movies that support Dolby for Headphones.
I've just discovered today that I have the Dolby Atmos choice finally on both my OG, and also my newly purchased Slim. When exactly did this upgrade come out for us Console owners? And do you think plain and simple "Dolby Atmos" mode has it's advantages above the others?
Hi, it's a few months since the beta I guess, currently there are a few games like Spider-Man 2 which has a Dolby mix (and only in cinematics) we should wait and see what'll happen in the future, here's an update regarding this in Spider-Man 2 and 3D Audio: ua-cam.com/video/Iy3G-my7cyA/v-deo.html
Hi, yes, 3D audio is processed on the console, so any headphone can support it, I recommend Linear PCM for headphones and 3D Audio depending on the game, some games sound amazing with that some don't which we have a playlist of tested games and personal opinions here: ua-cam.com/play/PLfzrQ3H5ECSb94ScaAy57H8hX3FTqQQih.html

Can you write briefly How best to set these headphones for the best quality sound for FPS, TPS. for example resident evil, TLOU, Rainbow six, COD.
Hi, thanks, what's you main language? I can add auto translate, but you can also use a plugin named "Immersive Translate" regarding 3D Audio, it's very dependent on the game, some games may use it better or give you better output based on their design, there's not much that could be done regarding that, except testing both 3D and stereo, and using the one that sounds better to you!

Hey danial. I have some crackling issues on loud noises on my wireless headset. Do you think I could solve this issue by using a compressed audio format like dts, or dolby instead of PCM? Because in your testing they do work on wireless and aux headsets
Hi im currently using astro a40s wired headset connected to my PS5 dualsense edge controller..would you recommend linear PCM or DTS for the best audio quality available ?
Hi, from the test I made controller audio quality is a bit low, they sound very similar (LPCM or DTS) but depending on your headset, DTS may sound better, I recommend trying both for 10 minutes and see which sounds better to you.
Thanks, Personally, I wouldn't recommend any Inzone series for PS5, I've tested H3, H7, and H9, and none of them support EQ transfer or EQ settings on the PS5, which is a huge disadvantage over many third-party brands or Pulse 3D on PS5, so I'll probably ignore H5 too, unless they add EQ support on PS5. hopefully, they will, if you want it for PC, it could be a good choice.

Hello, I use a Bose 600 soundbar ( compatible Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus ) on an LG OLED C3, what are the optimal settings? THANKS
Hi, I didn't have this soundbar but from the information I checked, Dolby should be fine, yet remember it may add audio delay if the TV isn't set correctly to passthrough which I'll cover the delay in the new video soon.
I have a hdmi 2.1 slot with eARC/ARC And it’s been default to pcm but it sometimes sound muffled and low on certain games. I’m trying Dolby Atmos and seeing how well it works out
Hi, typically Dolby Mix on non-native games wouldn't make a huge difference in terms of muffled sound, but you can try and see if it sounds better for you! there's not a noticeable delay from PS5 either.
I got ps5 and 5.1 setup. Console connected to tv. Tv via earc to avn. Tv set to bitstream. Why everyone says that blue ray player shoud be set to bitstream if pcm is best? Also it is said that bitstream is processed in avn and pcm in console. Please explain.
I have a soundbar with a 2.1 sound system, what should I choose in the settings of the av receiver or soundbar? dolby atmos or pcm? Please help me my friend 🙏🏼
Hi, Dolby Atmos should work fine if your device supports it, if not, Try Dolby Audio, if it doesn't support that either, Linear PCM and 5.1 is the correct output mode as your system is 5.1
But, how do you setup the PS5 for folks who use HDMI from PS5 to Samsung TV and then the sound exits the TV via Optical cable and goes to a Bose Lifestyle system via Optical? Does it matter since the final processing is done in this case via the Bose? Bose seems to have either PCM or Dolby5.1 setting only
Hi, which Bose Lifestyle system? it will decode the audio, not the encoding, if it only has Dolby 5.1 and not atmos use Dolby Audio with AV on the console set to 5.1ch and you're good to go > for TV settings ensure to use the same decoding (if it has) if it doesn't have Dolby than things get harder to setup (or passthrough if it has).
Apparently tempest 3d has more object based total sound range compared to dolby, better keep it on and games where 3d is not an option, keep it 5.1 or other surround settings it has and then there are games without any audio settings, in which keeping the 3d on will still make it better overall, still hope sony would add virtual surround features for headphones and dacs like creative soundblaster x g1/g6 which has discrete 5.1/7.1 channel surround potential but those dacs are usb based and anything plugged into ps5 via usb is turned into stereo, ps5 does not allow other devices to do audio process at all unless it is done via optical out or likely hdmi arc, even their own headsets like gold or platinum's VSS feature are not allowed on ps5
Hi, yes the way I used to test headphones output but with 7.1CH was using an HDMI Sound Extractor because otherwise it'll output stereo and there's no way you can change that. another issue with PS5 is multi audio streaming, it can't output to headset and HDMI simultaneously, so when I want to use headphones but record gameplay in capture card, the audio will be off, only 1 output at a time which forces me to get audio monitoring devices for that propuse, very limited.
hi danial, thanks for video. I would use my Phidelio X2/hr cabled, so i thought to connect ps5 to a DAC/amp (like iFI Zen Dac v2) but the connection by usb cannot use max sample rate, and it goes only at 44khz. Both of these would use the height speakers. Woukd thia be better than using the Atmos setting in the PS5??
That sounds good, I would say decide by the game, most first-party games support all channels in both Linear PCM and Dolby Atmos, but some other games only support full channels in LPCM mode. so yeah it's kinda dependent on the game, the point of Dolby Atmos support was to provide Tempest 3D audio capabilities to Dolby Atmos devices. when there's not a Native or Good 3D Audio support on a game, then LPCM might be a better choice.
Hi, PS5 doesn't have an Optical port, so you must use your TV optical out (if it has one), and that way you can get it. or HDMI ARC eARC if your sound system supports that input.
Hey, I have some questions. My setup is as follows: PS5 hooked up to hdmi 2.1 TV and a 5.1.2 Atmos soundbar (Q800C) hooked up to the tv with eARC, with the TV set to passthrough audio. So the audio signal from my PS5 goes straight from my ps5 to my 5.1.2 Atmos soundbar, and both 7.1/5.1 LPCM and Atmos are fully supported. I'm trying to decide on the best PS5 audio settings. I used to have it set to Atmos, which works perfectly. TV reports a DTHD signal coming in, passing it through by eARC, and the soundbar says it's receiving Atmos. However I am now wondering if I'm better off setting the PS5 to LPCM, because I see people talking about all kinds of bugs with different games when Atmos is enabled. I thought enabling Atmos would basically just give the PS5 access to all Atmos channels, and when a game doesn't use 3D audio, that it would simply send the plain default 5.1 or 7.1 signal within the Atmos container, and that there wouldn't be any difference between LPCM and Atmos in that case. Both DTHD and LPCM are lossless right? Could you tell me whether I should keep using Atmos or just choose LPCM? And as a follow up, when using LPCM, should I choose 5.1 or 7.1 for my 5.1.2 soundbar? Is it best to let the soundbar handle the downscaling of the additional 2 channels? Or should I let the PS5 handle this? I'm worried it might limit a game's audio capabilities in some way, and I was thinking that maybe the soundbar has some processing going on that allows it to still put the 7.1 channels to good use by adding an effect to it, to make it still kinda distinguishable even though it's coming through the 5.1 channels. And lastly, should I set the speaker positions to the actual positions of the soundbar in terms of degrees, or should I just leave it to default?
@@SamuelBurks-op3xw Well, through my own testing and research I have come to the following conclusions: -The Soundbar and TV settings on the PS5 are the exact same audio signal, but these settings are reported to games, so that the in-game audio settings will (when a game has those settings) also be set to either the TV or Soundbar (or home cinema when AV receiver is chosen in the PS5 audio settings) audio profile. This often determines the dynamic range that's applied to the game's audio. When a game is set to TV for example, the dynamic range (difference between loudest and quietest) will be smaller than when set so something like home cinema. -The Soundbar and TV options will always output the maximum supported (reported by the device that's hooked up, the TV in my case) amount of channels. So in my case they will both output 7.1 channels, while the AV receiver setting lets you choose between 7.1, 5.1 and 2.0 yourself. When the AV Receiver option is also set to 7.1, there is no difference in audio signal compared to TV or Soundbar, which can be deduced by the fact that there is no short pause in the audio when switching between them. It doesn't actually switch to a different type of output signal so there is no short pause that signifies the switching that's happening. The pause/switch DOES happen when you set AV Reveicer to 5.1 and then switch between that and either TV or Soundbar. So in summary, TV, Soundbar, and AV Receiver 7.1 are all the exact same audio signal. AV Receiver 5.1 is different simply because it's 5.1 instead of 7.1. -My soundbar (Samsung Q800C) does in fact process the additional 2 surround channels on 7.1 vs 5.1 a little differently, so it does in fact offer a different/more complete surround sound than plain 5.1, even though it physically only has 5.1 channels to play through. -For some reason the Dolby Audio format on PS5 only outputs a Dolby Digital 5.1 signal for my setup, instead of Dolby Digital Plus 7.1. When selecting AV Receiver 7.1 and Dolby Audio, it only outputs 5.1. Switching the PS5 between 5.1 or 7.1 does not result in a pause in the audio, and both my Soundbar and TV just keep reporting they're receiving a Dolby Digital audio signal, instead of Dolby Digital Plus which would be needed for 7.1. This is trange as my setup definitely supports DD+ 7.1, but I have a feeling the PS5 simply doesn't support DD+, but only DD so only 5.1 when choosing Dolby Audio is your format on PS5. So, don't use it if you want 7.1. -The Dolby Atmos setting always outputs 7.1 (over Dolby TrueHD in my case), and can never be changed to 5.1, which is fine. -LPCM is also always 7.1, except when setting the PS5 to AV Receiver 5.1. -I have not been able to find out whether there is a difference in "speaker position" settings between any of the options, and I suspect that by default they all just use the default settings that are seen in the settings menu for the AV Receiver option. So I don't think there's any reason to let it influence your decision. -Dolby Atmos is only useful to choose when a game uses the Tempest 3D audio engine, which almost no game uses. This means there is not benefit to it compared to regular LPCM 7.1. I would recommend to not use it, as I've seen reports of bugs in terms of active channels and audio placement on wrong channels and such when a regular 7.1 game is converted to Dolby Atmos. Setting the PS5 to plain 7.1 will assure all games correctly output their audio without any bugs. In the end, for my setup, I have chosen to use Soundbar with LPCM. This outputs 7.1 LPCM. I could choose AV Receiver 7.1, but purely because I'm not 100% sure about the "speaker placement" thing, I'm going for the Soundbar option just in case the AV Receiver option deviates from any sort of unprocessed speaker placement setting and instead changes it to the exact default settings when choosing AV Receiver. It probably doesn't matter though. Then, in games, I just verify whether the audio settings are correct, and I preferrably have the game set to home cinema (or something similar). Additionally, which is very specific to my soundbar, 7.1 and 5.1 sound identical in the soundbar's "standard" mode, but when using "adaptive" the 7.1 audio sounds a lot worse, way more muffled, than when using "standard". With a 5.1 signal though, "adaptive" behaves as expected and adds a bit more clarity to things like voices. But standard is the way to go anyways, as it gives a more accurate and true surround sound. So, with the Q800C, don't use adaptive for 7.1, only for 5.1, but I recommend to use standard anyway. Hope this helps you, and if you have any questions I'd love to hear them!

Hi, I recommend Linear PCM for your headset, Dolby Audio seems to be outputting the same 3D Audio, Atmos is a bit quiet on the headset and the frequencies don't sound correct on the headset (if that matters to you), however, I should also test the audio delay to give a final decision, the most important thing is to have low delay for gaming.
I use hdmi 3 on my Q80T Samsung for arc, the hidmi cable goes to my arc extractor and I run optical out to the back of the extractor to the TR mixamp. I currently select the dolby setting on my PS5 should I switch to linear PCM? Thanks
@@gw2752 Hello again, have you tested a direct USB connection to PS5? I guess, this way that you're using it will add a noticeable delay, I don't have the mix amp to test but I'm guessing there's a delay on your TV with Optical over arc with Dolby, of course I must test the delay on PS5 first, then I give you a recommendation, still, PCM typically should have a less delay. but let's wait a little longer until I test it. if you set to LPCM set the TV to that too.
Hi, the mixamp is connected to the PS5 via usb, PS5 set to dolby and voice chat only as the sound goes to the mixamp via the optical cable to the back of the mix amp, that way I can use the audio / chat balance on the mix amp and the mic ru s through the moxamp usb to the PS5. There is no delay. Thanks :)
There is delay if I run the optical straight from the back of the tv to the mix amp that's when I use hadmi arc adapter as it passes through with no delay :)
its a bit annoying that you cant find information about pcm vs dolby setting PS5 for Razer Headset. i have a Razer Kraken Kitty V2 USB Headset and i have no clue which settings i should choose on my PS5: L PCM or Dolby Atmos?? So I’ve recently switched to ps5 and i have the Astro a50s i have the adapter and I’ve followed the instructions to set it up and i can hear game and general audio but i can’t hear voice chat in game and not sure how to fix can you help ?
in the end basically it depends on how developers are developed game's audio, just like lazy developers not utilizing all controller features to it's full extent, i guess only first games can be expected to provide proper audio visual and controller potential on the console
Upon further inspection i did yesterday, dolby dts etc only matters for optical out which while ps5 lacks your tv may have it, also it would matter for hdmi arc, not for wired or wireless headsets, and regarding 3d audio, i think it should be kept on at all times, i noticed the difference yesterday with worbidden west, with it off the leaves would not make any noise and with it on the nearby leaves would make noise@@DanielZH

What are you talking about? There is no Dolby atmos latency on the PS5. Only on Xbox. This is misinformation

@@SeVeN42095 True, Pulse 3D is overall quieter on PS5 even compared to PC, I'm not sure why, but even when you max all EQ frequencies it's still 10-15dB quieter, maybe they did it on propose or maybe it's just because of EQ to not go over 0dB.

what about soundbars ?
if your soundbar supports Dolby Atmos or Dolby Audio Decoding, then you can use it, otherwise, Linear PCM may sound better, don't forget that even if your soundbar supports Dolby atmos, you still may get better results with linear PCM depending on the game you're playing.
for example i have this soundbar samsung hw-q60b

The only thing that still tickles me is that I do not know what audio format is being extracted by the SPDIF out? This SPDIF is then connected to my Astros TR through the digital in of course and my headphones are connected to the Astros. All my HDMI inputs are coming from the PS5 and Xbox Series X and in bitstream format but I am not sure if the Astros are receiving it in bitstream or even if the HDMI switch SPDIF port is getting the bitstream? Hi, you have to use the format supported by your device to decode so it can get a correct channel output and features, most headphones accept stereo input and the processing is done on PS5 for 3D Audio not the headset, usually recommended to use Linear PCM unless you have issues (for headphones) or looking for something else.

Hi, thanks, what's you main language? I can add auto translate, but you can also use a plugin named "Immersive Translate"
regarding 3D Audio, it's very dependent on the game, some games may use it better or give you better output based on their design, there's not much that could be done regarding that, except testing both 3D and stereo, and using the one that sounds better to you!

Did you figure this out? Have the same setup
So the best setting for a 5.1.2 via eARC from hdmi 2.1 is linear pcm or Dolby Atmos ? Also should I put 5.1 or 7.1 in the ps5 settings? Thanks

@@DanielZH Thanks Daniel, will test and see.

Hi, PS5 doesn't have an Optical port, so you must use your TV optical out (if it has one), and that way you can get it. or HDMI ARC eARC if your sound system supports that input.
So what should I use 3d audio or Dolby Atmos or Dolby audio for my tv ?
If your TV has a typical stereo speaker, Linear PCM is the best, unless you use a supported soundbar or speakers with Dolby decoding.
@@DanielZH my tv is acer advance i series it has 36w high fidelity speaker that's all I know
Hey, I have some questions.
@@JorisKeijser you took the words from my mouth lol I desperately need a reply from op
@@SamuelBurks-op3xw Well, through my own testing and research I have come to the following conclusions:
-The Soundbar and TV settings on the PS5 are the exact same audio signal, but these settings are reported to games, so that the in-game audio settings will (when a game has those settings) also be set to either the TV or Soundbar (or home cinema when AV receiver is chosen in the PS5 audio settings) audio profile.
