@@Bolbi145 A politician is a hypocrite, not a big surprise. The real issue isn't hunting, video games, or even legally acquired guns. The biggest problem is mental illness. Most gun related deaths are suicides, and nearly every mass shooter has serious mental health issues. Plenty of countries have gun ownership rights, but none of them have as many gun related deaths as the united states, even when adjusting for the US having more guns on average. The fact is, American culture encourages people to cover up their mental health issues, and even has a tenancy to paint those struggling with such issues as either weak and cowardly, or as the bad guy for struggling with those issues in the first place. Suicide rates among men (who are more subject to this culture in this respect) are among the highest in developed nations. This is a country that expects people struggling with issues, be them financial, family, or others to deal with their problems on their own, and we're all somehow shocked by the fact that our crime and imprisonment rates are just going up. Poverty in the US has a direct correlation with gun violence, while average gun ownership, surprisingly, does not.

Let’s not forgot that there is a rating system designed to let parents know how appropriate a game may be for their child, and then they complain when they discover that the Mature label was on the box for a reason. And wow this is relevant.
CosmicRedPanda I have a friend who works at game stop and almost everyday a parent guys their kid one of these exact games they complain about. The serious without any sarcasm do not care. The very idea that playing a violent video game makes you violent is extremely idiotic I mean, I played Ace Attorney, Cooking Mama, Surgeon Simulator and Keep Talking and No One Explodes. Does that mean I'm a lawyer, a chef, a doctor and a bomb disposal expert? Heck no! All it takes is simple logic to debunk this idea. The same thing applies to the idea that sitting close to the TV wrecks your eyes. Wouldn't computer or phone screens do the same thing? It's all just colored light.
there are cases of people that went extremely mad over video game, and did some horrible things to other people while at it. It is kinda video games fault(like 5% maybe?), the case is mostly player vs player, u will know the exp if u played LOL, Dota2, CSgo, COD, CF and other times of games, people are encouraged to flame the player on the otherside of the team, and take advantage on opponent's mistake, this is rewarded on them to climb higher on whatever leader board or rank in the game they r in. While irl on the other hand people r encourage on fair play.

Yeah, that's because the actual research on aggression isn't super on his side.He tries to quickly make the hot sauce thing sound ridiculous but it's a pretty standard and well validated form of study that works across a lot of stimuli. You have one group of participants who you give the stimuli you think will cause aggression (video games, punching bags, being rude etc) and then give them an opportunity to do something painful/unpleasant to someone else (blast static at them, give them a shock, or in this case, pour a ton of hot sauce they've been told the person hates onto their food) and compare the results to a control group who was given a neutral stimuli. Also, the effect sizes for aggression are almost always small in these kinds of studies. That's not a problem the way he's implying. If video games turned you into a rage beast we wouldn't need a study. Now, this DOES NOT mean that video games cause school shootings or violent crime and it doesn't justify banning video games or ANY of the moral panic we got after columbine. But they do cause a slight aggression bump. you are more likely to raise you voice, or interpret something ambiguous negatively, or if you're in a situation where there was already a chance you might respond violently you are MORE likely to respond that way. It's a minor shift, but it's a real effect and Adam skirts past it real quick because it's not one his audience will like.
@@eausterberry all competition causes the same effect and therefore it is ridiculous to make such a claim especially when there is some research saying video games reduce violence and allow players to experience another point of view
@@jet100a major difference though, studies show it reduces long term violence and has to many uncontrollable factors involved, it DOES increase short term aggression however you are correct that other forms of media do the same. My mom encouraged us to play video games and bought us Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct and Doom in the 90's. We owned these games when I was 7 (older brother was 8, younger brother was 5). I'm not sure that makes her a cool parent or a bad one but I'm happy she never was restrictive. We were playing GTA in our teens and not even playfully did any of us consider mimicking anything in those games. Though I might have now picked up a few ideas for defending myself if necessary from playing Tekken...
The human brain even in development as when we're children dosent take information from any digital platform and apply them to reality in a technical way. I'd you were to give a 3 year old an ipad and let him play around putting some blocks together stacking them, and then took away the ipad and replaced it with actual blocks for them to stack, they wouldn't be able to as if they had already done it before. Why, because the human brain dosent necessarily learn movement from the digital playground, movement has to actually occur in order for the brain to see it as important and therefore retain it in the long term memory. Anyways yeah I play videogames to
It ruined the parents, particularly angry karens that want to blame violent video games for their kids mental issues that they are responsible for. Before video games became what they are now it was movies and TV shows with violence.
If anything if you have more violent thoughts games like Mortal Kombat release your feelings and makes us less violent. People who don’t let stress out when playing games will take it out someway else. If anything the right amount of video games is healthy!
@@MissingYouser that’s..... Of course you hhave to complicate it. The difference is that the violence complicates an emotion while what you’re saying complicates an idea. And playing a video game is an active activity where you are doing something. While what you’re saying is something passive so it doesn’t relieve stress because you are just watching while a video game is active. 🙂
@@MissingYouser But sexual pleasure is a positive feeling, while stress is a negative one. If someone watches porn and feels pleasure, they will seek it again, because their body tells them it feels good. But the stress, that is relieved by playing video games, doesn't feel good, it is unhealthy and no matter how good it feels to get rid of it, the body won't signal the player, that they should get back to being stressed out. And gamers don't enjoy the violence in itself usually but the feeling of power, influence and achievement, that comes with it, as well as the already mentioned stress relief. Other people, who don't get to feel these emotions from games usually seek them elsewhere. Sometimes in positive surroundings (their work, sports, arts, crafting, social projects and other hobbies), but others turn to negative ways of feeling powerful/important and releasing stress like violence (hooligans, extremists,...) or drugs to forget. Though there are 'problematic' gamers, there are problematic people everywhere. Usually gaming is as healthy and constructive as every other hobby.
@@MissingYouser jesus christ ok then taking it to the next level there but I see the point you make it's just that yes games release stress for you but if your playing a game where you shoot things it's not like you want to shoot everything around you that 4 year old rape game is just such a far jump and not a fair comparison

"Violent video games create violent childrens and horrible acts such as shootings!!!" NO, bad parenting does but is far easier to blame something that can make a defensive argument. There is also the fact that is has been already proven that they have the opposite effect.
People are often the target of abuse. Women just tend to, you know talk about and try to change it in counterpart some men have the erroneous thought that if they are abused, beaten or harassed they should suck it up because they are men and men don't have feelings. If you want to change things for men you shouldn't be focusing on saying who is abused more, who suffers more and focus on the actual problems and educate people about that because the reality is everyone suffers and if you're going to make a competition then you're always going to lose to poor children without food and clean water.
Indeed. I've been murdering night elfs since 2004 and I'm not about to shoot up a school. It's strange that we play games that are about killing others. But it doesn't connect to the real world at all. And that's strange too. I love headshotting people in BF5 but I'd be throwing up if I actually saw someone with a bullet through their head.
Actually this subject has been touched more times than a hooker on a submarine. People just refuse to listen because they can't see that games can actually develop skills and friendships that you usually wouldn't think about such as creativity, analytical skills, faster responses to stimuli team work and more. In fact video games are being used in the military for these exact same purposes because they don't require as much resources and are much safer than actual combat (I mean in addition to regular physical training). But people like to think they know it all so most people will never change.

@@Bolbi145 That too. Unless there are promising investment opportunities in their country :P

Will be referrenced for years to come. Even though I agree with Adam, I thought there would be more studies noted.
@@eausterberry Thanks for the info. Where is the source on that?

If anything if you have more violent thoughts games like Mortal Kombat release your feelings and makes us less violent. People who don’t let stress out when playing games will take it out someway else. If anything the right amount of video games is healthy!
And theres a VERY simple reason i main characters like Goro, Shao Kahn, and Kotal Kahn. I got alot of stress i can release with giant characters.
Does watching pornography make people more or less likely to want sex? For the majority it would be more likely.

If you want to change things for men you shouldn't be focusing on saying who is abused more, who suffers more and focus on the actual problems and educate people about that because the reality is everyone suffers and if you're going to make a competition then you're always going to lose to poor children without food and clean water.

Im happy that someone finally touched on this subject. The stigma against video game culture is ridiculous and stems from ignorance.
THEY TARGETED GAMERS.
GAMERS.
Sapply the most “oppressed” race;)
Actually this subject has been touched more times than a hooker on a submarine. People just refuse to listen because they can't see that games can actually develop skills and friendships that you usually wouldn't think about such as creativity, analytical skills, faster responses to stimuli team work and more.
In fact video games are being used in the military for these exact same purposes because they don't require as much resources and are much safer than actual combat (I mean in addition to regular physical training).
But people like to think they know it all so most people will never change.
I kill things in video games all the time and I find it to be a nice way to channel my anger instead of taking it out on people
Meanwhile Minecraft is just like HAHA RED FILTER GO FLASH
So when I'm about to get busted by my parents, you'll show up and save my soul?
Japanese girl said Kaiju translated to hellbeast which is incorrect. Kaiju means strange beast.
@John O McDonald I was meaning the subtitles.
@@maximaldinotrap and they're often of giant proportions
@@misterspiderthemagnificent9268 often yes but I believe the correct term for the giant kaiju would be daikaiju or great/giant strange beast.
Most people here in America hear kaiju and think giant monster.
@@maximaldinotrap you're correct. I neglected to mention that despite knowing of the term. Kudos
Near translation,happens all the time
