The ocean is majestic, the rocks are beautiful, and Kate finds her very first Oregon beach agate. When they get back to their Montana home, Kate puts her finds in the rock tumbler to give them their wet-from-the-ocean look. It's half beach adventure, half tumbling fun - come along!

I miss hounding at the beach! For a few years back in the day, I lived on the central coast of California and used to find agate, jasper, jade and many others along with cool shells including little tiny complete sand dollars. That was when I bought my first tumbler. I still go back occasionaly and even have dreams about rockhounding there. Thanks for letting me tag along!
Thanks for joining me! I once visited a beach in central Cali that had nothing but tumbled white moonstones - amazing!
I lived on the Oregon coast for 12 years. Loved beach combing finding so many wonderful things esp the agates. I have buckets and buckets of them and have given as many away. It was a wonderful way to spend time!
* WOW ~ Wish I had known about Rockhounding back in the late 60s & early 70s when I was out trekking around.. What a joy to watch you & learn about the rocks I could have picked up.. Thank You for Sharing your adventures...
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Rockhounding was actually pretty big in the early 70s - that's when my Dad was into it. Maybe you can get into it NOW in a small way - there are rocks everywhere! :)
Yay, rock collecting along the ocean. What a great, relaxing, healthy way to spend a few hours... or days!
It really is/was. :)
Hello Sister Friend, A very beautiful adventure... Nice way to end the video, Beautiful Parents and purple...
Thank you so much! :)
Why oh why is it that my mouth immediately begins to water when I gaze upon these beauties!
:D Maybe you are hungry?
Wow katydid! That incredible waterline really stole the show!!! I almost thought it was one of mine that I’d dropped, because I hound that beach so often and have verrry similar ones LOL!!!
I usually keep my stuff beach polished but the tumbles look great.
Would be really nice to see some before and after pics of the rocks side by side. We just got our first rock tumbler and are beginning our journey done the road of rolling stones.
That is an excellent limpet! It isn't easy to find that kind whole!
I’ve seen lots of different ways of tumbling rocks, I have to say I LOVE your end product ❤️
Shinny and with character!
I especially love rocks from the beach, but also love watching and learning about Yellowstone river rocks! Thank you Katie I think you are a very nice person 😊🦋
Thanks. I know lots of tumblers go for perfectly smooth rocks, but I like leaving a little character.
We are about an hours drive from the coast, we hit Lincoln City and Newport a lot..
Nice agates for your tumbler ..
I collect the shells, whole and broken ones and tumble them too .. (people buy them all)..
Looks like you all enjoyed yourselves..👍
I loved the little water line agate
Me too!
So pretty polished.
My thanks, appreciation and respect to you, madam.. I wish you eternal happiness, health and peace.. success in your work.
Thank you!
Not sure if someone has already answered your question: the layer of white net-like stuff at 1:24 is an encrusting bryozoan, a marine organism. Pretty common to find bryozoan encrustations on the surfaces of rocks, shells, kelp, etc.
Cool! Thank you for answering.
Katy I hope your staying safe, lost of flooding in Yellowstone park,it will probably come your way .
Nice rocks. The vibratory polisher does a great job.
I love it - especially because it takes SO much less time!
Thanks kate, for taking us on your rocks journey through the tumbler! The pet woods are my favorites and they turned out awesome. I absolutely loved your big agate and your explanation of your feelings you got from it. You speak (and write) so well, that we felt what you felt, just looking at it, and it was beautiful! They were all spectacular! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks, Lisa. :)
I love the jasper but my favorite one is an agate. The one that looks like it has a clear dome over it. And the petrified wood is beautiful!
It really is cool!
Absolutely beautiful. And I don’t mean to change the subject but I hope y’all are doing fine with the Yellowstone River flooding like it is Tue, June 14, 2022. And “WOW” once all this is over what a blast y’all are going to have hunting the Yellowstone. Can’t wait to to see what you find!!!
Excellent video Kate, well done on the beach, pretty views. Nicely done on tour tumbling. Keep up the awesome work, thanks for sharing your passion and hard work!
Thank you, Nic. :)
Hi Katy, another interesting video. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
Thank you! Will do!
Love the video.
Beach hunting is so different to river hunting.
Lots of pretty finds.
Absolutely loved the tumbling portion of the video.
I like how you put them in the vibe, and left them with the natural pits.
I dont have a vibe yet.
I have become way too fussy with my tumbles.
Thanks for the fantastic video
Different - but equally fun!
That was amazing 👏 thank you 😊 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
So many cool finds! It is so much fun to see the beauty brought out by tumbling! The shells and fossils were pretty too, and I love the fun banter between you and Mr. Did😆! That was a beautiful picture of your parents at the conclusion of the video ❤️❤️
Thank you, Donna.
Never been to Oregon, on my bucket list the Pacific shoreline is beautiful.
It is gorgeous.
Boy,this really is fun! And good harvest of interesting stones,as well! Thanks for sharing!

A poem... thank you!
Oooh, lovely! I had my first rockhounding trip to the Washington coast earlier this year and have my first batch of beach stones getting ready for the final tumbler polish. After watching your video, I can't wait to go back!
Glad to hear it!
Thanks. I'm new to the hobby & still trying to learn the difference between the rocks on the beach. I'm in San Diego but the Oregon beach looks very similar to ours. Maybe a little colder.🙂
Ha, yes, the Oregon coast is quite a bit colder than SD. I'm not sure if there are agates on California beaches, as I haven't hunted them - but if they look similar, they sure might be!
I like ocean rocks from Coranado but alot of them have tiny holes in them. Do you know why?
love those hagstones!
I do too!
Very pretty beach! Quite different from the FL beach I walk. The limpet was really big and very pretty! Thanks!
Thanks, Ginger. It was fun!
Hey Katy, nice video, rockhounding at the beach can be fun. I’ve found that on the final polish to fill the tumbler with water to the point where it is just covering the rocks/agates so that there is less friction/grinding between the rocks and more polishing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Nice job . Tumbled stones show much character. I'm still wondering if you show at rock shows. I would love to see some of your treasures.
I haven't even made it to the Oregon coast since I moved back - and I'm only 46 miles away from Lincoln City!!
Go there NOW! :D
Holaaaa Katy estoy feliz con tu canal. Me gusta mucho su energía y por supuesto las rocas.
Me gustaría mucho comunicarme con usted.
Saludos costarricenses 🥰
After watching your video I had an apifany* that caused me to pause my current batch of rock tumbling which was a full load of chalcedony and Carnelians because I realized I probably don't need to be using step 1 on these since I don't want them to get much smaller or change shape I just need them to become shiny. I checked a few and they seem to be okay, I packed my 3lb lortone pretty well and had alot of ceramic peanuts so I may take them out a few days earlier but I just wanted to say thank you because you made me realize I prob don't need to be wasting grit on these especially since I don't want my specimen peices to get smaller just want them to shiny:)
I hope it works for you! :)
@@KatyDidRocks same here, thank you :)
Hi Katie hope your staying out of the Yellowstone River. Just watching the world news and there is major flooding going on. I'm hoping its not effecting you like the Yellowstone itself. I'm going keep safe. Thanks Ray

Everywhere I go, I take rocks 🪨 and stones and bring them home to admire in my garden. The best ones find their way into the house 😂
Thanks for joining me!
Thanks. Next…Bear Canyon!
Soooooon!
Hi Kate
HI, GRACE! :D
Just wanted to tell you we’re thinking about all the Montana folk who are dealing with the flooding. Hope you and Jim are okay !
I had to get back to you with good wishes for your safety in the high water
Thanks, Greg!
@@KatyDidRocks well it's raining again. I have begun to gather 2 of each kind. So far I have agates, petrified wood and jasper. It's a small ark. But you and yours are welcome.
I’m a fellow rock hunter, and I was wondering what brand tumbler you use?
Hey Katy, do you have a tumbler you'd recommend for a tumbler? This would be for occasional use for this family who likes to go out and find and collect rocks once in awhile. I don't want the least expensive as I know you get what you pay for. I do want decent quality for a reasonable price though. Suggestions?
Lortone....👌
Were you in Brookings Oregon over the past couple of days I saw a license plate with your name on it literally LOL
All of GODS CREATIONS.ARE AWESOME
Amen.
Do you know how the flooding in Yellowstone Park will affect rock collecting on the Yellowstone River in eastern Montana?
The flooding is occurring all down the river - but east of Billings, mostly it is uncovering beautiful rocks.
Ms Did:🤣🤣 would you please make an explanatory, illustrated video on the quartz vs agate. I am not a skilled rock person. I'd love to know (see) the difference between say, clear quartz and agates. Or smokey quartz or any rock I might see on the ground. Just a small video about it???? You said "raised dough". But I see banded agates in your hand. Is that from quartz to agate? Am i just confused again? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I lived my life.saying.IF THOSE GIANT TREES COULD ONLY TALK.AND TELL US ALL THEY HAVE SEEN.same goes for rocks. Thinking all those giant creatures. That roamed this earth
Rocks all tell a story.
If it's brown, soft and smells bad it's best to drop it and wash your hands 🥺
LOL!
