What area are you in? I’m about to start an adventure with my father who is disabled. He also has the beginnings of what may be dementia so I want to make some happy memories for him. Do you have a tumbler? I could send you some rocks to tumble.
@OccamsSledgehammer Not anymore. I left all my rock shop equipment behind when I got too sick. I did kept some of my favorite rocks from my collection, though. You are very kind to be helping your father. Us older parents need nurturing sometimes. Especially if we become less able to take care of ourselves the way we want. Good luck on y'all's journeys. Happy trails!
So glad I got a notification about this video. So my dad passed away February 4th. We definitely made some happy memories, and I am so grateful to all of the content creators who kept him entertained right up until the end. He’d want me to keep exploring, and I plan on it. You guys are awesome.
Gorgeous. I remember collecting stones from a public garden as a kid and smashing them till they broke on my grandparents' back yard floor. I found a whole world of wonder in some of those stones.
I'm so impressed, beautiful work, you have a finely attuned eye for seeing the gems inside of rocks. It looks like a bit of petrified prehistoric marsh in fractal form.
Oh Wow! Those came out absolutely gorgeous! And that sagenite is just gorgeous! I love how beautiful those both came out! Just amazing! Thank you for sharing these Jason! And congrats to your daughter on her graduation!
WOW!!! ✨Your channel was recommended to me and I’m so glad it was, i’m with you on that little dark metallic spot, my guess too that it was hematite. These turned out absolutely amazing, what a good eye you have for spotting! Good luck with your Etsy store, leave a link in the description for us all! I remember a friend and I were at a rock hounding get together somewhere in Seattle and a guy let us use his garage equipment and pick out any rock he had there or if we had any of our own, actually he happened to have a little piece of some dinosaur bone, and it was red and white, I remember making a bolo out of it ( 80’s thing) love your channel!! ✨
@@RockhoundingLife ✨That’s perfectly OK as I found out somewhere along the lines a couple of times now that dinosaur bone is contaminated with a toxic residue of radiation, I guess a Geiger counter would tell one what they needed to know… anyway that was some thing I didn’t want to wear after I heard that…
Beautiful! I don't know why I never got into this, I have loved rocks and stones since childhood, and when they are wet, or polished, they are amazing! Maybe I will start now! Thank you!
So what a great find, and just in the slices alone I personally could see a hiking landscape view… (2:55) looked like 🌲’s and mountains in the background!! Just gorgeous. The cabs are beautiful too!
Finally! First I want to say nice work! Second, I'm so glad someone not only plays good music but someone who leaves the sound of the grinder as well! Nice one!
Cutting and polishing stuff that you found yourself,is some of the best fun!!!!I have some rocks that remain a mystery, but are so dang cool! They sure clean up good-kind of like a kid going to the Prom!
Pretty awesome work with a wonderful base stone - my father used to do some of this lap work, and I still have a few of the pieces he did. I also have his tumbler, but that's it. Use it mainly to tumble broken, colored glass ... then spread that out to "seed" local beaches in the winter, for kids to find the following summer. He sold the rest of his equipment before he died (in 1976). The opaque, metallic bits are more likely magnetite than hematite ..... and magnetite would be MUCH more pulled by the magnet.
@RockhoundingLife...Hi!!! Thought I was " Subbed", going to now! So...Could that have some Hornblende formation? Makes me think of that.. What a truly FAB CAB!! Love to wire wrap one if I ever find some for sale! Never heard of this type before ( in the States that is) Next time I'm able to get back home ( Down east Maine) have to hunt the shore somewhere and see...or wherever! Thanks Jason for sharing and showing how it's done!! Congrats on your new Grad! Bet you are Proud!! 👍🎓Take Care!! - Mindi in Iowa
Love the pin shaped crystals in that rock. This spring my wife and I went back east to visit my family. While there we went to Sandy Neck Beach Park on Cape Cod. This beach is in the bay, but faces north, so much of it has exposed gravel in the tidal zone exposed from winter storms. As Cape Cod is glacial till, the rocks originated somewhere between Massachusetts and the Canadian tundra. The variety was ineradicable. I am not 1/4 the way through cutting stones from this outing. Tip, go in the off season and time your trip so that the tide is receding. During the off season parking is free and the people are much more friendly. Google reviews has a lot of negative reviews due to a rocky beach. That's a good sign. Look for these complaints in reviews.
I’ve tripped over those rocks for most of my life around here, no idea you could do this with them. Whooda thunk lol. Congrats on the graduation! Cheers from Truro(Hubtown)
Make rings out of them on your next find. Beautiful stone. There is park like area where I go in Toronto and its full of black obsidian. I collected a few rocks with hues of green one of them. Excellent job you did .....beautiful stone
Thank you very much for your demonstration, I was too scared from those blades for cutting stones but now I see it is ok , I want to know what kind of glue are you using for shaping the stone for temporarily handle
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Beautiful work. That stone has so much character.

Nice work. It would be great if people could use this process to make kitchen knobs for their cabinets from the stone in their local surroundings.

Thanks for watching!
That was really cool. What you see in a rock is what I see in a piece of wood when I make one of my pieces. Thank you.

That intia 3 cut of the rock…that third slab made me think of Dante’s Inferno
