I used to use liquid super glue to attach plants to rocks or wood, but if the rock or wood is wet, which they usually are, the glue will run down the surface (as it did in this video) and leave a nasty white stain when it dries. I have since transitioned to a gel super glue and find it works much better.
I love your videos. You have such a soothing voice. I much rather listen to your informative dialog and just gorgeous video than the fast talking folks out there. I started with 10 cherry, had babies and then a heater malfunctioned so I lost everybody. Now I only go with the best heaters. I got 10 more and now have about 30+ babies. Thanks for all your help.
The same thing happened to me Deborah. Now I dont even risk it and I dont use ANY heaters in my shrimp tanks now. I've seen them survive and thrive in temps between 65 and 70 no problem. And odds are you keep your ambient temperature in your house around there. Good luck
I love cholla wood ! You should try the teddy bear cholla....much larger girth with a more grid like pattern. I love that to but it's hard to find. One thing with the cholla is if I use it in my shrimp-fish combo tanks I usually break it in half lengthwise to remove the tunnel....I'm always paranoid my young plecos could get stuck, or any small bottom dweller infact.
I like your idea of cutting lengthwise. I'm new to fishkeeping and have some very small pygmy cory that I know would love to hide inside. I just bought 3 pieces of cholla and I was thinking about sanding it down a little and couldn't figure out how to do the inside without a long file... thanks!
Dead Scott really no different than making sure they are not in water lettuce roots. Just be diligent on checking even use a flash light. Really how often do you remove it? I dont remove mine very often Just my opinions👍🏻 Thanks for the question!
@@JNAQUARIUM i'd rather not remove it but it's been weighed down for weeks with no signs of sinking, so i think i need to take it out and boil it. looking at pieces since, i realized the one i have is pretty robust, and not nearly as "skeletal" as a lot of them i see. together with the little statues it's tied to, it makes working in the tank a big hassle
You should try banana stems. Shrimp love those too. Liked what you did with the driftwood. I try not to use the super glue. Not because I am afraid of putting in the tanks. I get more on my fingers than what I am trying to put it on 😒 Great video!!!!
I got my cholla wood from the local big craft store. decent priced as its for crafting, not labeled as aquarium decor. Thought id share a tip i discovered by accident
About $9 a foot or so? A little more if it's an interesting/appeasing shape for an aquarium (or air plant display). So much cholla is just a cylinder or a split 'Y'. I was happy to have been able to find very interesting pieces from the desert on eBay.
I put a thicc piece of cholla in my tank a few weeks ago, but its still trying to lift it's anchors so i need to remove it from the cherry tank and boil it so it'll sink. Is there any trick to making sure there's no shrimp left inside when i remove it?
malaysian driftwood? did i hear that correctly? keep an eye out, some of em are host to centipedes and you wont know until its in the water depending on its size. I love your video. I intend on starting my own habitat in a couple of months!
That wood is pretty cool, I can't find them in petstores here, maybe I'll order online... Also, I discovered u not long ago, good channel ! it does not relate to the video but I would like your help. My tank has been cycling for a month (April 5th), but I've never seen any nitrite or ammoniac by testing every 48 hours since the end of the first week. I added some liquid bacteria and added sponge and rocks from my other tank in the filter, adding food to make waste, but nothing happened.. (I use aquasoil if it's an important information) Do I have to wait longer ? how can I know when it's ready to add shrimps if nothing happened..? (Sorry for my english) thank you 😅
@@SooShrimpBreeders that's what I thought, I added 6 danio few days ago, wasn't sure to do it but yeah, and everything is fine, I'll wait for at least another week to be sure, thank you ! Also, which signs can I see if there's a problem ? Red gills, anormal swimming, fast breathing..?
This video showed me almost nothing regarding the preparation of the wood, other than super gluing plants to them. I watched it all and still don't know what steps I should take before, during, and after I have introduced driftwood, cholla or otherwise, to an aquarium. This is some click bait bullshit. Down vote.
You just place it inside the tank, what else do you need lol If your a picky person just wash it with normal water or boil it but i doubt that would be necessary. The “preparation” is done by the manufacturers
Sorry if you think that. I try to make to clickbate for any of my videos. And what this last comment said. I do not boil it cause it has benefits from not. I just wash it with water and toss it in. Takes a few days to sink
@@SooShrimpBreeders the same with almond leafs. I just run them under the tap to get any excess dust off and put them into the tank. I do not boil because I also believe it takes away nutrients

Had my bf find me some cholla wood when he was in Arizona. That stuff is everywhere. The shrimps love it and I like to plant moss on it
That's awesome of him! I will always use it now.

I really like the two blue at the end; one has mostly white and the other is clear.
most beautiful shrimp i have seen
Those are some great looking shrimp . I have to set up a shrimp only tank and use cholla wood . Thanks for the video.
Thank you. They are a ton of fun once you get them going.
We use alot of cholla wood as we sell it too!
Shrimp LOVE IT!!!
Love your shrimp and have learned alot from your videos!
Thank you!
is it difficult to remove cholla from a shrimp tank without taking shrimp with it?

Thanks for sharing
i like how almost everyone pronounces cholla wood as chola XD. double l is pronouced y so its "choya"
But hello tho?? Idk

Would you rather keep the cholla for decoration in the tank after its lifespan nor replacing?
love your videos man, keep up the good work
Cool Video ! And nice shrimp ! :)
I learned a lot from your Instagram feed! Thank you!
you have the best name ever
Not sure if you knew or not but cholla wood is actually cactus. I see it laying all over the place back in New Mexico.
Should pick it up and sell it!
@@SooShrimpBreeders I didn't realize it was used till just recently. Next time I head west I will for sure pick a bunch up. What does it go for?

Love the videos ive learned so much.
Awesome...thank you
Why you keep Ramshorn snails with Caridina shrimp? I heard, that they may carry different infections
I put a piece of cholla wood in my aquarium 7 days ago & it's still floating. How do I sink it?
I’m pretty sure it needs to be water-logged. Put a rock on it, and it should work.
6:17 Wazzzzup guys!
She runs that tank haha
Randall Blancard the one flying down from above lol..
great video just getting into the hobby new sub here great into for a bigginer

Do you have to boil the cholla wood or anything like that? or just toss it in and let nature take it's course?
I’m from Arizona and I can tell when you have never seen a cactus before if you pronounce cholla wood with the L sound and not the Y sound
Choy Ya
he tryna segregate shrimp oh lawwwd

@@SooShrimpBreeders not my favourite surprise hahahaha, again love the videos!
Did u have to boil or soak the cholla wood like you do the driftwood before putting it in your tank?
I did not. I just soaked it in my 75g
Can you write the names of the plants you used. And perhaps what recipe you use for your shrimp? thx :-)
Hello Guys,
do you boild cholla wood? Or just let it insdie the tank till it sinks?
Didnt boil first?
How did you get your chloe wood to sink. And how long did it take you?
