Girl With Real Tourette's Reacts To Billie Eilish | Does Billie Eilish Have Tourette's?

  • Hey everyone! Today's video talks about Billie Eilish and her Tourette's. People have been asking me if Billie Eilish has tourettes, if Billie Eilish has tics, and if her tourettes is real. So today. Iam going to react to Billie Eilish and her tics & tourettes, and tell you my opinions.
As a girl with Tourette's, I would love to spread awareness and education about my disorder, as I feel it is quite misunderstood in today's society. The media has made it out to be a swearing disorder only, which is far from true. I hope this video will educate you on Tourette Syndrome and tic disorders! Life with Tourettes can be difficult, but just know that we're the same as everyone else...except for the fact we tic like clocks! (:
    Thanks for watching!

Billie has said that a lot of her tics that aren’t noticeable to others are muscle spasms, so while she’s seemingly sitting still she’s exhausting her body due to the constant repeated tightening and releasing of muscle in her arms and legs. And that people don’t realize how exhausting this all is.

  • @somewhat-blue
    @somewhat-blue Рік тому +2164

Yeah, the most important factor that makes me certain they’re real is how hard she’s clearly worked to hide them. A common therapy technique for TS is to teach people to camouflage tics with other purposeful actions, or relieving the sensation with a less obvious movement- she’s very clearly practiced at hiding hers, in a way someone who’s deliberately faking pretty much couldn’t be.

My feeling about the people that compile the 'tic ' compilations of Billie, don't always recognize what they are looking at. While yes, a lot of real tics were shown in the compilation that you reacted to; a lot of the footage doesn't actually show her tics. I feel the compiler was definitely trying too hard to find tics to add.

Agree, some were just regular facial expressions. Raising an eyebrow isn't necessarily a tic - Some people are just more expressive/reactive with their facial expressions whether that be subconsciously or consciously. While I believe Billie does have tourettes some of these just seemed like regular facial expressions or movement. I think she is naturally expressive - she is very animated when she talks. Maybe that's a result of tourettes - maybe to try and hide when she does tic so that they "blend" in more but she definitely does seem to be quite animated naturally when she is responding or engaging with people. You could see her tic in the first clip very clearly even if it was a subtle kind of tic (slight head/neck jerk). But when she was in the car with James Corden I couldn't notice any tic's there... But granted, I'm not an expert! Maybe she was suppressing? But I couldn't notice any specific tic's there for example.

i've been fake claimed in the past for ticcing in public, but my difference is I have nervous tics (i know the difference well and don't claim to have Tourette's) and pointing them out tend to make them worse. this happened recently in a grocery store. I was in the store minding my own business getting stuff for dinner and she told me faking Tourette's isn't cool and when I told her I wasn't faking anything she started screaming at me IN PUBLIC Infront of everyone, which obviously made my nervous tics worse. she screamed me that i should be in a mental hospital for faking diseases which i wasn't and people just stood there and stared at me. i told her loud enough to where everyone could hear, i'm not faking tourette's syndrome, in fact I don't even have it, I have nervous ticks, which her pointing them out and screaming at me for them DOES NOT HELP THEM AND MAKES THEM WORSE. at that point i was like ACTUALLY CRYING because I have ptsd and people screaming at me triggers it and i was scared and having flash backs, she claimed to me nervous tics are not real (like wtf) and proceeded to try to grab me, not yelling, SCREAMING to the top of the lungs for a manager, this is FINALLY when someone stepped in and got her the hell away from me because i was starting to have a literal melt down and couldn't friggen breath. the manager ended up kicking her out instead of me then gave me half off of my grocery's because of "the inconvenience". still haven't gone back to that grocery store.

The key to preventing discrimination is to ask the people who would be taking the brunt of it. I had this when I was young, probably between 11-18 or maybe even 20. And they would come back occasionally since.
I was so insecure and frankly felt ashamed, like I was bad or something. But for some reason, and I don’t know why, they just gradually tapered off.
They were very strong when I was young. I would exhaust myself in them. I had a twitch and a squeak that I would do. I would twitch my nose and eye, and then do this squeak that I would try to suppress. I would twitch at the organs inside of my rib cage. And I find myself occasionally doing this still, only (thankfully) to a lesser degree.
But like you said, if I concentrate on the topic, especially if I’m watching someone with Tourette’s, I feel a tick or a twitch building inside and I have to resist.
It feels like a miracle that I almost don’t have them anymore. But from time to time I’m reminded and I sense how easy they could come back again. Thank you for your work on this video. And I thank anyone who took the time to read my comment.

Thank you so much for this video! Billie’s tics seem to be very similar to mine in that they are quite subtle. It makes me feel better because sometimes I feel like I’m not valid in my Tourettes despite me being diagnosed at the age of 5. I don’t have any if the “grandiouse” ones as you out it in another video.
While as a child my Tourette’s was pretty bad, once I reached my late teens they became so much more minor to the point I no longer needed medication. Nowadays mine are mainly muscle tensing, such as my neck, stomach, shoulders and thighs. They come and go, but the two big ones I’ve had nonstop since childhood are one that looks like I’m eye rolling (like Billie showed) and nose scrunching.
I learned to “mask” them since, while people tell me nowadays that they don’t even notice my tics, multiple times when I was younger people would make fun of my eye tic especially. A big one I do is in public when I have the neck tensing tic, I act as if I’m simply stretching my neck.
Sorry this was so long! I just feel like people thing Tourettes only presents as big noticeable tics despite it being more of a spectrum as you said :)

His echolalia is still pronounced when he gets stressed, and he still does have outbursts, but a lot of the hard swallowing and certain other hard tics have lessened over time. He will have outbursts and say random words(absolutely no filter). It’s very hard to get people who don’t know to understand. Thank You so much. Funny thing is, the fact that both me and Mrs. Eilish used to suffer from relationship abuse and depression, both me and her love this dark, demonic aesthetics, and now learning that B has tourettes too (my father has tics, I inherited it after him. Since my issues with speech started, the tics seem to fade away but yup they're still there and still annoying, but tbh I totally preffer my tics over the speech difficulties. Oh my don't even let me started on how many times I have cried because I couldn't force my own mouth to say what my damn name is or some other basic shit, immediatelly around the period it started and I was totally confused. Like none of my tics made my life that hard as not being able to say yes or no for no reason at all and yeah noone still knows what's going on with me and i HATE it.....) makes me really nearily believe that Matrix theory is real, as even our faces are similar (that's how I got to know Mrs Eilish even exists LOL My friends were like "without glasses Ure a spitting image of Billie Eilish" XD So I looked her up and here I am XD) Like seriously, is there a glitch in the system? We should NOT be forcing ppl to talk about or disclose their disabilities. If she wanted to discuss it, she should be able to do so by her own accord. Not be hounded by social media to either confirm if she does or if she's faking. I wish ppl would focus more on the person, their identity, and stop forcing their way into their private lives :(

Hi there, I love your youtube channel thank you so much for providingthis content, normalising tourettes and talking about their experiences as it is a great way to see how adults are managing in this world of growing neurodiversity. My 14 year old son has tourettes, he was diagnosed officially at 7 and was showing signs since he was 3 when he started whistling really well. His tics are so similar to Billie Eilish now, very subtle and quite endearing but can get severe, he supresses a lot around people he doesnt know then unleashes when he gets home which I can imagine must be such a release, I believe my dad has tourettes too but he is undiagnosed, at 83 he has managed really well, he has 2 tics that never change. I am not expecting a reply but if you have time I was wondering if you would ever apply your video content to a pod cast format too? X

I don't have tourettes, but I have motor tics.
They are much less severe now than when I was in my teens, though they get quite severe when I'm stressed.
I tried suppressing them when I was in class, but people got freaked out, as I would shake intensely and my neck would tense up to the extreme.
So I stopped trying, just letting it all out. Because punching myself at random and twisting my head to the point the neck cracks was apparently a lot less scary for my class mates.

I have so much respects for Billie. I don’t understand how she could be faking it if most people never even knew she had it because she suppress it so much. If it is based on an impulse jerk reaction, then suppressing it would be extremely hard. I know all about how hard it is to fight against impulses, but I can only imagine what it’s like to have Tourette’s. People already poke fun of those who are nd. To be in the public world makes masking probably extremely hard.

Has become SOOO over used that people equate something with crippling anxiety that makes simple tastes incredibly difficult and usually relates to some EXTREME trauma it's almost like it's become equated to having a crappy day or a natural but unpleasant reaction to normal human things... At least the word... And it gets so frustrating, makes the accompanying depression so much worse too.... I mean no offense to anyone in any kind of pain just mean some things get watered down or used so much they can lose their impact or not be taken seriously..... And forgive me don't want to trigger anyone so gonna be very careful but, I've literally talked about wanting to **** myself and it's as if I'm talking about ordering a drink... I do go to an ABYSMAL doctor..... ANYWAY I could go on and on and I was just trying to say I can only imagine how hard it must be to deal with what you deal with and for people to fake!?!?!!! Like ppl have with mental illness like it's "cool"!?? I think you are absolutely gorgeous, eloquent, such an amazing soul!!!! I subscribed and will be watching more videos because I truly want to understand what you deal with more..... Also sorry if you've addressed this previously what is the best way to be loving to someone with tics? It must be SO HARD to be on a public platform like yourself or Billie and deal with that. I LOVE that you are so confident and can't say enough! You are just so authentic! Also you said suppressing it can just like prolong it? So wouorse ld that mean after an interview she has worse ones? I've never noticed any other tics from him other than those tho. It was nice coming across your channel, it's very nice to learn about the diff levels of it and that someone out there who isn't faking it is actually informing people to spread the awareness of it. Everyone should be true to themselves and true to others. I hate it how people try to act like they have any type of disorder when they don't. I have bipolar, borderline personality disorder, anxiety and depression. It affected me for many years, but in the past 4-5yrs i have worked really hard at improving my mentality and learning to talk myself down before i get to that high point, so when people try to fake having emotional disorders when they don't, it really bothers me because they don't truly know what it's like to suffer from them.
