One important thing that wasn't mentioned is that the RX100 V can only record 4K for 5min IF it doesn't overheat before that.
the review I been waiting on. thank you, very nice work.
Thanks Shawn! All your reviews are very detailed in every aspect which in turn making the decision process easier! Thanks again and keep doing the great work!
Exactly the review I am looking for. Good work mate !
What a fantastically comprehensive review. Bravo!
Excellent compact camera reviews and cameras !
Thanks for this, great review!
Great review! ... After readind DPReview and others I still couldn't decide but you make it so clear. Particularly with the choices to similar cameras.
Awesome!! excited for mine!!
Awesome comparison, it has been very helpful and answered most of my questions. Do you happen to have a LX10/LX100 comparaison as well somewhere? Thanks...
You totally failed to mention photo stacking and macro capabilities of the LX10 which are far superior.
Good review and comparison, really helpful. Thumbs up =)

hi. Been watching your video thank you so much. on any of the Panasonic cameras that you mentioned, what happens if you zoom while recording video? are you going to hear the zoom lense noise in the recorded video?
Very informative and helpful comparison. Thank you.
Thanks Mark, glad you found it helpful
Great video -thanks. How does the LX10 do with i-zoom - intelligent digital zoom?
Nice review, thanks :) Is it possible to download the shots of Melbourne you took with this camera? I'd love to compare them to the shots I took of Melbourne with my Lumix TZ-35.
it has been a year since I pulled the trigger on the LX10. Very happy with it. Still learning it though since I came from the Canon system. The money I saved from buying the LX10 instead of the RX100 V which is about $400 I bought myself the GoPro6. That's a combo. Now I'm seriously looking into getting the ZS100 9early 2019) to complement my LX10. If you don't want to buy the GoPro for the action/water activities part....get a Zhiyun Crane M to complement the LX10 and you have a portable video beast!
Would this camera be ok for indoor ice hockey about 4 rows from ice? Thank You.
Great comparison
Does the LX10 have a Multiple Exposure option? I love doing double exposure photos and would love that option in cam on a compact body. Thank
Hi mate! Great review. I have had a good dslr for a year or so now and I just can't wrap my head around using it. For fishing photography and videography. I'm not worried about size or price but I love the idea of getting nice shallow depth of view and in a point and shoot. I'm looking at the RX100 v but size doesn't bother me, just simple to use. Should I buy the rx100 v or something like the Panasonic G7. Help would be greatly appreciated and I will be sure to visit your store here in Perth to make my purchase!
Is Fuji X70 a better choice than this for pure manual operation?
Awesome review.. Just a heads up.. I tested the rx100v and this camera and the Pani is a bit sharper..
Thanks for all the informative videos you upload! They are really helpful 👍🏻
What is the best compact camera for talking good selfies and for Instagram photos
Please reply ❤️
digiDIRECT sorry but is this the best camera on market? I would appreciate your suggestions if you could help me choose the best compact camera to buy with the best picture quality and flip-up screen not specifically the Lumix LX10
Thanks a lot
Very well presented video! Thank you! I am wondering if Panasonic is on the verge of releasing a successor to LX10 anytime soon.
Great review! What do you think is the best all rounder camera between the lx10 and zs100? I will mostly use it for landscapes and some macro shots. Thanks!
digiDIRECT Thanks for your answer! I got the Zs100 and I am really happy with my purchase, the 10x zoom is great. Thanks again!
the lx 10 can record at 120 fps? I checked the specs on B&H and they have 60 max? is that in 1080?
For long exposure photography at night and cityscape which one do you suggest? Lx10 or zs100?
Excellent review. Thanks Shawn. One question...Can the flash on the LX10 or TZ100 be used for a video light?
Nope
Loved you in Armageddon dude.
I'd like to get a pocket point and shoot camera and I think I'm leaning towards to the RX100(I'd love to get the Nikon DL 24-85 but apparently they'll never be made...) Which mark RX100 should I get? Obvisouly I'm trying to save as much as possible on cost so is it worth saving the £150 or so in-between each mark or even say £250 between the latest and older marks like the V and II?
Thanks
I heard that even though the LX10 is at f1.4 wide open, it stops down quickly towards f2.8 as you zoom in.
What about LX10 vs RX100 mark IV? Which one is better? They now cost pretty the same
Great review
Thanks, glad you enjoyed
A very in depth review, though it would have been nice to know what the battery life is like.
I'm going on a safari to South Africa this summer and comparing the two Panasonics, mainly due to the 4K Photo capability on both cameras. Any opinion about the travel tradeoffs of short-zoom-but-brighter vs. long-zoom-but slower?
Thanks for your advice -- and love the videos.
Hi Daniel. i need a compct camera to shoot people on stages in auditoriums which means i need some reach and low light capabilities. i dont always get to stand close to the stage. (30 metres or so) Which compct do you recommend. ?
Thank you heaps. Will head into digi this week
can you review sony hx90v, thx before
who is the best lx10 vs tz110
Cool, Melbourne
Great review!!! Been looking for an everyday carry camera and it was between the lx10 and tz 100. Looks like the lx 10. Thanks for the easy to understand coming from a average guy. Can I take silly waterfall pictures with the lx 10??? Is it easy to transfer pics to my smartphone with this?
Hi, Im looking for a camera to shoot stand still videos for UA-cam + good picture quality for family stills. Any recommendations?
digiDIRECT Thanks for the reply.
I have shot thousands of pictures with a compact camera and realized the ViewFinder is useless in 95% scenes.
As a fairly serious camera guy, I decided to pass on the LX10 due to the lack of viewfinder. What was Panasonic thinking? - why didn't they put the viewfinder on the more serious camera? And actually in comparison to the LX10 the RX100 iii is a much more reasonable comparison for photo guys. But - if I was really a movie guy I'd go for the LX10
Love your hair. And the review.
Haha, thanks :)
Hi Shawn - Thank for such a good comparison review, that's informative and has great sample photos - your insights are appreciated!I noted that on both the Panasonic LX10 and ZS100, image quality is great for near subjects (using no more than a little zoom), but resolution/sharpness falls off drastically if the subject is more than about 15 feet away from the camera (regardless of the amount of zoom). A photo of a pigeon taken at 35 feet looks like a kid drew it with a crayon. Beyond 15 feet, the older and smaller sensored ZS40 takes better photos. Did you find this drop off image quality for distant subjects to be the case with the Sony RX100 Mark V? Thanks!
Hi again. Yes, I took many photos with both Panasonic cameras and got poor results when the subject was 15 or so feet away from me. Sadly, there are no camera stores anywhere near me. If you haven't noticed the drop off in image quality, maybe I received two inferior cameras.
@@fritz9880 I'd guess you were using the wrong F stop or accidentally in manual mode for that to occur
The RX100V is King in compact video. For 7 minutes...
It's King in compact speed shooting. With a 24 to 70 eq...
The only real advantage of the Sony RX100V has over the LX10 is continuous autofocus.
The video qualit of the RX100V is nicer but it overheats within 10 minutes unless it's in a very cold environment.
I think the LX10 beats it out in video even without an ND filter (you can get a magfilter for the lx10) just because it can record 4k in 15 minute increments right up until the battery dies or the card fills.
Where Sony *really* has Panny beat is the RX10 but not by that much either with the new FZ2500 coming at around 400 USD less.
what happened to Blunty?
Wow love your video and I especially would love to take you up on coming down to take a look at one of your cameras if you could please send the ticket to Arnold Cain in Lethbridge Alberta I would appreciate that hell why you're up to it send 4 more tickets for the wife and kids. Once again great video and I look forward to those tickets LOL
Haha that would be nice eh? Personally I'm originally from Toronto, wouldn't say no to free tickets ;)
-Shawn
I like his shirt.
No mention of the Canon G7 X Mk II, which is more directly competitive in the same price class than the Sony RX100 V
Pricewise, it's close to the LX10--I've owned both and returned the G7X II because the LX10 is better (for me).
HOLY the link on this video is $220 more than even Amazon's price wth?
Hi Jman. We are an Australian retailer, there are differences in both pricing and currency between the US and Australia. Remember, a world exists outside of North America! ;)
I disagree the RX100 is a better camera than the LX10--depends what you want them for. Both good cameras, but I'll take the LX10 any day, especially in low light and macro/close-in focusing--better lens.
Panasonic says: foto modus ...[AFS] SH: 50 frames/sec*, ...
Very similar to Canon G9 X, just paying a little more for flip screen and 4k video. Almost same zoom range, touch screen, etc. The G9 X for video blogging maybe...
You mean the G7X, the G9X has F2-F4.9 which is not good enough when you zoom in.
Panasonic TZ 200
LX10 is good but without evf its moot
Oooh, the Sony has EVF. Too bad it can't shoot in 4K, isn't as good in macro or low light, doesn't have a tilting touch screen, or have post focus capabilities. Other than that, yes, it has an EVF--well worth $300 more than the LX10. Not.
Aren't you in Australia? Why is everyone so pale? Should all be tanned and golden.
Have you a bus to catch ? If not why talk so fast, or are you trying to get through life as fast as possible.
That's a decent review, thank you so much!!
I have a question; do you recommend it in December 2020? If not, what are the alternatives?
