If you are animation reacting it can be very very hard to fight however it DOES NOT flicker an indicator ublike kioshins full block zone/light indicator flicker which ive seen also consistently abused. I think animation flicker is ok if its an input however indicator flicker is not cool cause it basically amounts to giving soft feints to characters who dont have them.
Flicker tech on shaolin doesnt affect players who make reads. It only affects turtling reaction monsters looking to parry on animation. If you play like that, you deserve to suffer. And if you can't parry a flickered heavy on shaolin, you just suck man. Its not hard and even new players can do it. I never struggle fighting shaolin on any character. His ganks are strong, but so are nearly half the casts. His recoveries arent good enough to punish people like orochi, pirate, and vg can. When a shaolin bashes, you can simply dodge attack. Who would've thought! Bashes always being punishable by gb is a terrible idea and makes defense too strong. He's definitely a good character, but all of these points you made, except the ganking ones, are just stupid man.
@@noahlockard7101 Cant feint dodge attacks, his unblockable also got removed. Not all his lights are enhanced, he has no bleed damage... he has no hyper armor except his deflect... he is missing a lot of properties. Also, no soft-feints or dodge-recoveries.
@@itenshidoomit’s not the fact that they do not balance it well, it’s the fact that they balance the game at a snails fucking pace, like you’ll go 2 months with them only tweaking two damage numbers on heroes some seasons
@@Dark_memes2More like them adding new heroes to bloat the roster instead of giving reworks to the existing cast. You could Thanos snap half the cast and liqudate their feats, buttons, and themes to the rest of the cast to make the game more balanced. The more you add, the more complicated balancing the options are. Making a smaller but more in depth cast would make almost every hero viable. For example; why does Ocelotl exist when that could have been a Shaman rework? Why does VG exist when that could have been a Warlord or Valkrie rework? Jorm could have been a Raider rework. Why does Shaolin exist when it could have been a rework to old Shinobi? (Snap away the current rendition) BP could have been a Warlord or Conq rework. Kyoshin could be an Orochi or Kensei rework. Pirate and/or Nuxia could be a PK rework. Hitokiri could be a Shugoki rework. Even weird options like Medjay could be a LB rework (stancing the halberd for defense or offense) could have been a thing. We could have stopped adding new heroes after the Wu Lin dropped and all the Harbringers (BP, Jorm, Hito) as well as the Outlanders could have been complete overhauls. I know the reason is Ubisoft needed to produce money from the old titles to even have a scrap of developing funding, but the game could been so much better than what it is. Right now it's a tac board of pinning up new heroes and leaving the old cast to rot. Look at the lobbies; there's maybe ~3 Pre-Wu Lin viable heroes in the game, meanwhile the entire Outlander cast is insane and 2/3 Harbringers have stayed competitive. The tier list might as well swap out for a "date released, in ascending order" for the tiers.
Stop reacting to animation and make a read. If a rep 20 can do it, you can too. Play the game like it was meant to be played and quit trying to just react and cheese. I believe in you champ!
@@JonathanNormandy either works but really you just need to pick up on the way your opponent plays, the game is trying to simulate a fight, you have to anticipate and bait your opponents movements
@@JonathanNormandy they dont predict movements. They can see it and always parry by using cues from the animation. Using the red arrow and guessing if its a light or heavy is how its suppposed to be played. These players are basically playing like they have scripts, but they are really just reacting so they can always counter you.
The thing that pisses me off about shaolin is that he feels so slow when you play him and yet he feels so fast going against him. It’s some kind of time paradox and I’ll never understand how it works. So for me it’s a double whammy because unlike something like Varangian guard or Ocelotl, I don’t get to enjoy using him and he also feels like cancer to go against.
Bro feel exactly the same. When I play him he feels awkward clunky and slow but if I face someone he’s fast asl. I do think it’s a skill issue of learning how to flow with him and get into his chain but the initial start up is what feels like a 🐢 but I’m with you you’re not alone in how you feel. Practice makes perfect I guess 🤷🏽
That’s just the difference in how fast you’ll perceive another player doing a move. When you’re doing it yourself you’re doing the input then waiting for the animation to be over so you can do the next thing or readjust depending on how they react.
Since I picked shaolin (I did that because I hated fighting shaolin) I feel like any other shaolin is slower too. When you know all the tricks and mixups it's as slow and reactable as any other hero.
I remember playing shaolin before the rework, and seeing them was a rarity. Now it just seems like anyone with a pulse can pick up shaolin and just run the entire lobby.
Because before his rework he was awful with no way to get into his ki stance and even if you were in the ki stance all your opponent had to do was wait his chains were terrible aswell
I’m actually surprised that you didn’t bring up Qi trap, for a tier one feat it just last forever with no way to break it, and if placed in the enemy spawn you get a orbital vsat the whole match
i wanted to make an "enemy uav" above meme but i tend to stay away from cancer options like running QI trap, basically if i think something is super cheesy i dont use it.
One thing to note too is when you have more than one Shaolin, you can do some pretty disgusting things, like lock them in alternating triple tap light chains, or somehow sweep them an extra time when they're already on the ground. Don't ask how I know this, or the people that I "allegedly" did this to. They probably don't have keyboards to defend themselves anymore.
@@financialproblems9308 yes vg is broken as hell her damage is unholy her recoveries are non existant + her crushing counter is buggy working even on her dodge attack

Monkee got so much that it feels like you’re playing a wall 80% of the time when fighting him then those 50/50 into 33/33/33 is still one of the most boring things to exist in the game outside confirmed 50/50 in a 2v1 that give you no revenge Example: you dodge a bash but get hit by undodge or you parry the undodge and get hit by the bash into heavy in the end youll die before revenge is even half way
You're one of the voices the game needs bruther, you deserve the milestone! That and honestly y e a h, it's been bizzareeee how shaplin is literal S tier but no one says a word (my theory is just cause he is in a satisfying way, that and the ego shaolin players do NOT want a nerf and just hide the overpoweredness behind skills {pls I cant be the only one whos fought a cocky shaolin main}), by the by I smell me a zerk video coming and I'd LOVE to give clips if nescessary lmao, love the content and gotta support!
As someone who was a Rep 60 something Shaolin before the rework max rep Shaolin before the rep increase I really feel like Ubisoft went the complete wrong way with his rework, the sweep in his kit originally had almost no uses and was just a bad addition, yet now it is his main big mix up. My original idea for a shaolin rework was to let him flow better since that has always been the "core identity" of the Wu-Lin faction. Zhanhu flows from dodge to dodge as an opener with unblockables and bashes here and there, Tiandi flowing with dragon-dodge into dragon-dodge to reposition, Jiang Jun controlling big team fights with his unblockables and Nuxia disrupting with her trap attacks. Shaolin would be able to incorporate Qi-stance into relentless: being able to chain in and out of it to control his own offence and defence, making certain attacks chain back into regular chains and some being "big finishers". Like one idea I had was for the CC Lights to let you do a finisher light or a combo-heavy after them, same with side heavies from Qi-stance being able to throw a finisher heavy or a combo-light. Top heavy unblockable being a finisher but the unconfirmed kick heavy being able to go straight back into Qi-stance, after the current rework I really like the forward dodge bash and the ability to dodge out of Qi-stance so those would stay in my version too. Now this is just my personal Shaolin rework and many may not agree with me and that is fine, I just like spreading my ideas.
Characters I enjoy fighting:warden, warmonger, raider, warlord. Everything else is either too weak(conquerer), rely on one type of move that is easy to counter but it means have to spam one type of move to ever beat them(shugoki), or is op(shinobi)
the thing i hate the most about shaolin is that he's so over tuned that the coolest part of his kit is pointless there's no reason to ever try to crushing counter someone in ci stance and to a greater point there's no reason to even stay in ci stance more than half a second which begs the question why even have it anymore
Tbh the flicker is cheesy as hell but I don’t think they should implement bans for it because like you said people can do them on accident and that would result in them being banned and not know y personally I think they should just fix it anyway love the content keep up the good work bro 👍
Yeah, intentional or not, Ubi are responsible for balancing their own game. It's not really on the players imo. If there was a bug involving players getting thousands of free steel for free, you can bet Ubi would patch that shit overnight.
@@adrianhuerta4277Reactions are reads, though. If you were to only make reactionary attempts to parry every attack instantly then you would eat every single heavy your opponent throws.
@@HoneyDog yea. So flicker shouldnt bother you if you play like that. Thats how its supposed to be. But there are players who can tell the difference. Some look for flash while other do animation. Both of these players, without flicker, can parry your light 100% of the time its thrown. Thats why i dont like it when people complain about shaolin flicker because it only hurts people who just sit and stare for reaction parries instead of reads.
ill be honest, my main reason for hating shaolin isnt necessarily how crazy his kit is. its that while im getting light spammed and hit by an undodgeable dodge heavy that has crazy s every time i have a slight opening to do something, i have "WA BI WAABWAA" being screamed into my ears until they bleed.
i wish i could but looking at it from a channel health standpoint it wouldnt work. youtube pushes out my for honor content more than anything id post. and it would ruin channel numbers. thats why people make second channels its a lot of algorithm stuff
It's always kind of sad how the most fun heroes to play are always an absolute nightmare to duel. Shaolin is such a fun and satisfying character, but forcing your opponent into a 50/50 on literally every single attack is so stupid.
Hey, love this video!!!, as a Shaolin main, I find this very informative. My go-to for honor channels are Raven Knight and Solidsol. I'm going subscribe to you because have a different, happier vibe. Hope to see more content from you !!!!^-^
It’s cathartic listening to a video like this. I seriously feel like I never, ever hear people criticize shaolin, because I feel like there is this weird idea that shaolin is somehow “more respectable” than hitokiri or afeera or something. But I really always have found them just be way too overtuned- sure, it might take a bit longer to learn shaolin then hitokiri, but once you do it becomes just as annoying at a high level. I think primarily what annoys me about shaolin is they feel like such a cutscene character sometimes, even if you’re countering their attacks. The CCU stamina changes make fighting high level shaolins feel like I’m playing a turn based strategy game. Special properties on attacks also kill me, I just don’t get them; why can shaolins sweep only consistently be dodged in one direction? Why? Two different extremely quick, easy to “abuse” 50/50’s kill me. Shaolins always have access to their forward bash 50/50, as well as their qi stance kick/light combo. Kick/light is more bearable because they have to go into qi stance to get to it… except they can enter it through their forward bash 50/50. Guessing wrong on the QI Stance and dodging a kick punishes you with a heavy (GB or tracking), but eating the kick leads directly into yet another 50/50 that punishes with another heavy. Plus, if you get sweeped, shaolin can enter his Qi stance through the punish. It’s a 50/50 into a 50/50 into a 50/50 that repeats forever. Other characters have long repeating chains but shaolins just feels like way too much to me, mostly because of how varied they can make the combo. Sure, shaolin can throw three 50/50’s at you without ever having to throw a heavy- they also don’t! They can just, do other things that are also viable. Forward bash is good to open, but so is a backwards light into Qi stance. All these options also make simple lights, heavies and zones more viable as well. I could go on forever about shaolin, but they are just one of the most frustrating characters for me to fight. At the end of the day, doesn’t really matter who people play in a video game, but man, characters like shaolin definitely contribute to games like For Honor just not being that fun sometimes.
It’s ridiculous how busted he is, if you want full power then make sure to select Nukkekubi as your third feat. You can literally ignore the opponents mixups and spam your offense because you regain stamina every time you hit them so you will never go out of stam for the rest of the game
Eh idk coming from the FGC community youve always see crazy broken shit lol and back in the day with cabinets you just had to deal with it so ive grown use to dealing with broken stuff 😂😭😭 man imagine mahvel without broken magneto, sentinel teams would be such a different game
thank you for your piece on flickers. any "techs" such as zerk tech or shao flicker are not techs like a zerk backwards zone is, they are exploits. you should be able to get in trouble for using exploits.
With most heroes it's easy to see if they're OP, balanced, or weak, but when I came back to FH I could not tell if the Shaolin rework was balanced or not. I hate fighting shaolin and I swear to god he needs nerfs, I'm glad I am not the only that despises this hero, almost as much as Orochi and the outlanders
I am saying this as someone who can light parry fairly consistently on console his qi stance light shouldn’t do 17 damage you can get 31 damage in 2ish lights his light does the same damage as pk’s top heavy without the follow up
My friend who will say sucks at FH plays almost every Hybrid but his main is Shaolin and he does good but also the difference between a Aramusha and a shaolin is like going from Warden to Nuxia
The best thing about Shaolin is his FREAKING HERO SKIN. That kinda what drove me to play the character more before the Wu Lin season was coming up and heard rumors of a Wu Kong coming to For Honor. Still don't play him as much now but never regretted buying that skin. 🐵
People are busy bitching about VG, Honestly would rather fight VG, I'm so tired of seeing shaolin and having to always lock in to beat him. With VG I atleast can punish her
Oh so that's why the animation looks weird at times. I didn't even know I was doing flickers. Honestly, it explains a on how I'm like, " Why didn't you parry or block that buddy?" I've mained shaolin since he came out. Honestly, for me, I never really found shaolin hard to fight. I feel like once you use the character a bit & have an general idea of how his stuff works. Fighting against him is a decently easier. However that is how it is for me. I can't say for everyone else but it can definitely help though.
Something to add to the flicker point, is not only do people think its "skillful" to use it, or think its ok. They almost always get mad when someone points that out. Its borderline cheating and anyone who's purposely doing it regularly to win fights has no business playing the game.
@@RangerAce1290 just play the character he does take skill to play any decent player can shut down a shaolin pretty easily he's really not broken people just don't want to learn how to fight him. He takes no effort against new players
Im glad someone else came out and said it. The concept of feeling bad about using a mechanic that other people abuse is one that i feel like is so unspoken. I hate using characters that have abusable moves, yet dont abuse them because i dont wanna be "that guy" just to go against somone else playing the same character and calling me trash because he "used his kit better" all beacuse he abused the move. For example i love playing gladiator, but i once saw someone get toe-stabbed to death and since then ive pretty much put a mental block on that move and have instead tortured myself into mastering light parries and deflects which im still in the process of learning lol. Then i go against another glad and be plays the exact same way i do, except for attempting to toe-stab every other attack. After i lose i get called trash and im told that i just dont know how to "use the kit" Im ranting already but if im being honest, i hate that excuse more than anything in the game. "Im just using my kit better" or "bro thats just my kit" to defend spam. I know there are some people in the community that feel the way i feel and cant speak about it in gc because everyone will just target them lol. For instance, i got stance-light spammed by a highlander and was told to "just parry it" as if highlanders stance lights arent the fastest, weirdly animated moves in the game. To say that and not bat an eye makes me think some people have convinced themselves they are amazing with the character or something.
I agree i do the same thing with light spam, i got to a point where light spam against players is useless, but im on a ps4 😅 so i can’t parry shit and i refuse to do even 2 lights in a row and try to use every move of a character’s kit, should be obvious but i encountered many idiots that spam one move. That’s why i love characters like shaolin where i can use his kit to the fullest without resorting to broken mechanics, i didnt know that you could follow up the bashes with light and heavy😂.
Bro im sorry but your literally just not good at gladiator if you choose not to use one of his highest pressure moves. Stop worrying about ppl crying about how your gonna play and just use everything in your kit or don't but guess what... I am everytime cus I don't put wierd mental rules on myself I simply play the game. It's just a read if someone toestabs me 3 times ina row that's my fault for standing there. I should simply dodge, and then the glad should adapt to that and try and gb me to punish that. You can play however you want, but so can the highlander spamming offensive lights you dont need to parry it unless ur playing jj or warmonger. Anybody else literally just needs to dodge attack. If u want we can 1v1 and you can attempt to cheese me with glad or highlander or any other char so I can show you how to counter theese playstyles. Getting hit by the same move over and over is a skill issue
I don’t get why toe stab is a problem. Defending it is a read that can be made just as easily as any other neutral or chain bash, it only does 10 dmg when it lands, and it is consistently punishable by any dodge attack other than jj
@@thenuggster8247 it's easy if u expect it. But to put it into perspective, I have never missed a single toe stab I have ever thrown. I dodge some of them because I know when MOST glads will feint into one. The problem isn't the fact that it's a good move, it's just the only viable thing that low levels can use glad for. There are some characters like glad that barely have anything viable except for one extremely viable move and then instead of people simply just utilizing it, they make it their crutch. Not to mentions, the characters that have good bashes are the ones you see spamming it. Like yeah If I go against an orochi I know at some point I will get kick spammed, whether it's the orochis first move off rip or they use it when they know they will lose if they don't. The problems with bashes like orochis kick or glads toe-stab is that you don't get much from punishing it, so there is rarely a reaction to dodge it (at least for me). Don't get me wrong. Glad needs a rework, or some animation changes with his skewer and leniency with free gbs off dodging skewer, but his toestab is his most valuable item in his kit. That's why u see pro players not using it at all (because they don't wanna be seen spamming) or low levels abusing it because it's that good. The people that are pro playing with him have perfected defects and light parrys, they do not use toe stab unless they use it to take their opponent off guard
@@stoplosinglilboy1461 I very much agree that getting hit over and over by a light attack in a row is a skill issue. What changes that is even the slightest bit of mix-up knowledge and throwing in a toe-stab becomes ten times more viable. I never said I got "cheesed" by it but I can tell when someone uses it as a crutch verses someone using it how it was intended. We are not gonna sit here and act like every attack in every kit is fair. Especially highlanders offhand lights, they are the fastest lights in the game and not only are they hard to read, but they have a small recovery as well. I don't know the numbers but I'm pretty good at light parrying, and if I can have a bot playing every character light spam me and I parry all of them, verses a highlander bot and me only getting 1 light parry off out of 10 lights. Highlander is a good character anyways and I'm glad that most people don't spam that move, but those that do know what they are doing. They aren't doing it because "it's part of the kit" they do it because it's hard for most people to handle. I respect the advice man and I've already tried many times to read things like that and it simply works out better just to take it and win next time by bring better rather than sitting there trying to look for light parries or dodge indicators the whole fight. The thing is, the games matchmaking is garbage so I'm forced to go against both low and high skill players. High skill players don't do what u described, they deflect and light parry off reaction and create viable options that way. Low levels however abuse their crutches. So I can never get used to either because I do good one game and get paired up against a rep 800 overall. Then I lose that game and go against an orochi that spams kick, yes I might lose to him once after I'm spammed but it doest usually happen again (that same match) but drifting back and forth makes it hard to just be good and focus on practicing light parries and defects
You can't even punish whiffed bashes. He can just do a followup like. His zone is so fast, still it's only a heavy parry. His lights are so fast, too, they feel much faster than, say, berserkers or Nobushis. I don't know, I'm just horrible at fighting Shaolin and meeting one is always very frustrating for me. I've started to hate his voices too. His disgusting cackles. Everything about him. And why does his hero skin look so good? He didn't deserve one.
Dodge attacks will consistently punish shaolin’s bashes unless you’re playing as jj. And also his neutral, qi stance, and finisher lights as well as his zone are 500 ms which is the same speed as every single neutral light in the game. He does have 400 ms lights but they are only accessible after a heavy
I hate I didn’t start playing this character earlier. His flow is nuts, great mixups, pretty good hitboxes. His deflect is so fun to do but it just kinda sucks. It doesn’t break armor and has lower damage compared to the rest of the cast. I’m not asking for a buff bc he doesn’t need it at all but it’s something I had to point out. His hero skin is by far the best one too.
Something I've always said, Shaolin didn't really need a rework, he just needed tweaks. His unblockable being removed for a sweep just made him more boring, especially just making his sweep the being his main tool. They should have just gave him tweaks, added the sweep finisher, and instead of making the sweep the chain move, they should have just kept it to only heavy and light chains. If they made all of his moves specific tools you had to get to one at a time it would be funner. If you can just do a top undodgeable heavy and go straight into a sweep, thats not fun. If you have to chain back into qi stance to do another move that would be better. The old kick was much more balanced where you could choose to do the unblockable, light, or sweep, if they just added the finisher that he has now to that and kept everything else the same that would have been fine.
I don’t think they should just outright ban everyone who does it since it’s so easy anyone can do it after a bit of practice, and most do it accidentally, they should definitely ban people doing it maliciously though
I 100% agree. If 110% existed. I would 110% agree. Two weeks ago I ran into a shaolin on the opposing team. I’m not terrible. I consider myself to be average. But I could barely get a single hit on him during each engagement. Sometimes zero hits. After three matches and him going undefeated in all three during domination. He left, and so did I. I haven’t played since then. For someone to play a character like that who is capable of making players quit the game. Something has to be done. I’ll come back. But after that a$$beating. I need to reevaluate my life choices. 😂🤣😂
Zhanhu is crazy underrated like genuinely he may be reactable but zhanhu like someone who knows him can knowledge check someone back to the stone age. It's not even that he's broken he just has solid tools. Unractable 50/50 unblockable that looks SEVERELY like his light finishers that are also unblockable. A 360 degree zone attack that hits pretty far out a dumby fast forward Dodge bash. And dodge cancels oh did I mention his forward Dodge heavy on a wrong read TRACKS THE OPPONENT
As a rep 80 shaolin. I just recently noticed enemy shaolin doing the flicker myself. I always thought it was just the game being buggy not the actual player doing it.
about chaining after a bash -> dodge attacks are confirmed punishes for them. You don't have to empty dodge and then parry, you can just dodge attack. This makes their offense stronger obviously, because it makes their opponents more predictable.
you can punish all of his bashes without making a secondary read by using your dodge attack, if you do a second read it's something you choose to do. i don't think every bash should give a gb when dodged but i do agree however that the sweep should give a gb when dodged because it is a very strong mix-up you don't get a gb most of the time when you dodge ocelotl's front dodge bash because the recovery is too low
Man, zhanhu allows for some nasty fun plays. I love her so much. Honestly zhanhu feels like a honest orochi. Literally beautiful Also winner's advantage is better than blink!!!! 39 dmg heavy finishers babeeeeee
I don't even play this game anymore, but watching vids on it is so fun. I'd argue I have more fun watching for honor videos than playing it (yes, it's probably a skill issue)
If someone does a flicker over and over and does it actively, they should be banned. At least for a couple hours; and then extend it if they continue. Whenever I'm playing terribly I just switch to Shaolin and all anger dissipates within an hour.
Magic in for honor is kind of annoying and the lack of any decent new executions but I got used to it. I kind of just accepted that the quality of execution would never go back up after covid and they were still making trash
For me, as someone who has this guy as the “fuck stealth users” main as Qi trap legit fucks over stealth users, he is legit the best user of stealth in the entire game as he also gets blink, so your fighting a 1v1 and all of a sudden the background is dealing damage to you and right as you realize the Shaolin has joined in and removed half of your health. Not to mention his dodge attack is stupid, like he can hit right behind him levels of stupid. Genuine love hate relationship with this monke.
To me it's not as bad since i can react to it, but shaolin when it comes to his flickers is probably the most abused ones i come across. I swear i don't see any other character get abused as much as him with least when I'm playing
Even for a casual player it’s intensely stupid to say a missed bash should always give a GB. GB on average is 22+ damage , most bashes are below 20 confirmed damage . We back to defensive meta if simply guessing right once allows you to deal more damage than the best offence .
I will never apologize for playing Shaolin. I got 70 reps in him before he got his rework. I love him and i genuinely think he is the most unique fun hero in the game.
thats fine im more talking about the Meta bandwagons who hopped on him only after his rework. old shaolin took some skill to pull off, 10x more skill than current day
Agreed. I love playing shaolin he's my favorite character and if people wanna hate me for playing them then cry about it and learn how to play the game because he's not unbeatable
What I’ve found is that if you hate playing against a hero, play AS the hero to understand them and then you’ll be able to predict the actions of your future opponents

Its crazy how the For Honor community hates fighting like half the heros that exist
Half the game is broken
Didnt expect so much people to agree with this
because balance is this game is a mirage
Wouldn’t be this way if Ubisoft knew how to balance it.
(Snap away the current rendition)
BP could have been a Warlord or Conq rework.
The tier list might as well swap out for a "date released, in ascending order" for the tiers.
im glad someone finally brought up the flicker the people who abuse it think that there great at the game and act like it isn't a problem.
Stop reacting to animation and make a read. If a rep 20 can do it, you can too. Play the game like it was meant to be played and quit trying to just react and cheese. I believe in you champ!
@@adrianhuerta4277 I didn't realize people use animations to predict movements. I've just been using that red arrow thing this whole time.
@@adrianhuerta4277so do you not know what a read is?
@@thenuggster8247exactly this right here and also just simply skill issues
Since I picked shaolin (I did that because I hated fighting shaolin) I feel like any other shaolin is slower too. When you know all the tricks and mixups it's as slow and reactable as any other hero.
I could’ve swore he had like dodge recovery or something
LMAO no im guilty of this too ive locked someone with lights before and as much as i was laughing i realized "man im a prick huh"

Tbh the flicker is cheesy as hell but I don’t think they should implement bans for it because like you said people can do them on accident and that would result in them being banned and not know y personally I think they should just fix it anyway love the content keep up the good work bro 👍
yea after having a convo i half changed my mind, i commented and pinned my response
Yeah, intentional or not, Ubi are responsible for balancing their own game. It's not really on the players imo. If there was a bug involving players getting thousands of free steel for free, you can bet Ubi would patch that shit overnight.
If you make reads instead of being a reaction only cheeser it aint so bad!
I noticed the flickering, and its so easy to do, i constantly do it on accident
Thank the Lord I’m not the only one.
ill be honest, my main reason for hating shaolin isnt necessarily how crazy his kit is. its that while im getting light spammed and hit by an undodgeable dodge heavy that has crazy s every time i have a slight opening to do something, i have "WA BI WAABWAA" being screamed into my ears until they bleed.

zhanhu is awesome, the drip is amazing, the animations look good
It’s cathartic listening to a video like this.
At the end of the day, doesn’t really matter who people play in a video game, but man, characters like shaolin definitely contribute to games like For Honor just not being that fun sometimes.
i love the ending. its truy at the end of the day were playing a video game but at the same time we are all allowed to voice frustrations

personally hate that skin, probably because shaolin mains ruin it for me
i started playing shaolin a bit before his rework was announced, but man, didnt know people dislike him that much
Honestly same XD
People are busy bitching about VG,
Honestly would rather fight VG, I'm so tired of seeing shaolin and having to always lock in to beat him.
I honesty wish they kept the top unblockable stance heavy but I understand why they took it away
Something to add to the flicker point, is not only do people think its "skillful" to use it, or think its ok. They almost always get mad when someone points that out. Its borderline cheating and anyone who's purposely doing it regularly to win fights has no business playing the game.
I want to play Shaolin because I’m a fan of Sun Wukong, but it feels like he takes no effort to play well.
After i lose i get called trash and im told that i just dont know how to "use the kit"
Im ranting already but if im being honest, i hate that excuse more than anything in the game.

He left, and so did I. about chaining after a bash -> dodge attacks are confirmed punishes for them. You don't have to empty dodge and then parry, you can just dodge attack. This makes their offense stronger obviously, because it makes their opponents more predictable.
you can punish all of his bashes without making a secondary read by using your dodge attack, if you do a second read it's something you choose to do. i don't think every bash should give a gb when dodged but i do agree however that the sweep should give a gb when dodged because it is a very strong mix-up
you don't get a gb most of the time when you dodge ocelotl's front dodge bash because the recovery is too low

Also winner's advantage is better than blink!!!! 39 dmg heavy finishers babeeeeee
In what situation would you ever find yourself landing a heavy finisher?
@@thenuggster8247 quite often tbh
It's beautiful to hit at least 2 people with a winner's advantage heavy finisher lol
@@ashisakiashikubi6597 How? It’s a blockable heavy
@@thenuggster8247 ????????????
Some of his executions make your character a bumbling idiot trying and failing to hit him
Hey mab love your vids
Bro talking sbout every character. And he is right. Every fking character sometimes become annoying
Revenge needs a buff
For me much champ are very funny tocplay with and against except one, the shugoki, really that thing hit me in my mental like a car
I don't even play this game anymore, but watching vids on it is so fun. I'd argue I have more fun watching for honor videos than playing it (yes, it's probably a skill issue)
Shaolin has been my main since I got him. Which, granted, isn’t long…but he’s my main for a reason, lol.
I main him because he's fun to play and I like deflects. I've had him since he came out he's not unfair in any way as some people will tell you
If someone does a flicker over and over and does it actively, they should be banned. At least for a couple hours; and then extend it if they continue. Whenever I'm playing terribly I just switch to Shaolin and all anger dissipates within an hour.
For honor barely bans scripters/lag switchers they can't do anything about flickering
@@unkn0wn5 Obviously yeah
i hate Shaolin because of teleporting, harm parry, magic executions... why the magic in for Honor? WHY?
Magic in for honor is kind of annoying and the lack of any decent new executions but I got used to it. I kind of just accepted that the quality of execution would never go back up after covid and they were still making trash
Bro, if I dodge left on his sweep and it still hits me. Just call me Kratos cause I’m PISSED
I don't see many flickers but I can see why people are against it I mean it is an exploit it's not tech. I only use it against my friends in customs
I like fighting, warden, pk, bp, shaman, nobushi, light spamming orochis, nuxia, and tiandi
Blink is the perfect weapon against runners
I love using blink to save allies from finishers
20 reps on Shaolin never used a flicker even once, nor have i used them on other heros
youre a good man
Even for a casual player it’s intensely stupid to say a missed bash should always give a GB. GB on average is 22+ damage , most bashes are below 20 confirmed damage . We back to defensive meta if simply guessing right once allows you to deal more damage than the best offence .
I will never apologize for playing Shaolin. I got 70 reps in him before he got his rework. I love him and i genuinely think he is the most unique fun hero in the game.
thats fine im more talking about the Meta bandwagons who hopped on him only after his rework. old shaolin took some skill to pull off, 10x more skill than current day
You can say he’s the most fun, I don’t agree with you but I can see it. Most unique though? That’s 100% sohei
@@thenuggster8247i say they both are
Agreed. I love playing shaolin he's my favorite character and if people wanna hate me for playing them then cry about it and learn how to play the game because he's not unbeatable
@@pandaboss5085 true
What I’ve found is that if you hate playing against a hero, play AS the hero to understand them and then you’ll be able to predict the actions of your future opponents
It doesn't work this way if the character itself is poorly made and is simply broken.
played shaolin and it genuinely made me hate people that main this character even more, his simple combos are already way too good and just plain better then everyone elses and qi stance is very easy to get into. Its like saying your super skilled at the game but you light and kick spam as orochi
@@financialproblems9308 I completely agree, I’m just saying that now that you’ve played as shaolin you have a deeper understanding of the tendencies of the shaolin player base and skill lever because you were in it, therefore leading to your success
@@KaedenTomhave that's fair, but cmon you can't deny shaolin is a bullshit character like orochi
Ever since I managed to antigank the entire team in elimination with shaolin I realised how bullshit he is to fight.
wish we had a praise video. They captured the flow perfectly of the bo-staff.
I guess negativity gets more clicks. I waited years for lin to be this okay. I hope he stays the same.
Hes legitimately the reason most players don't stay in forhonor
Hes that eggregious and unfair to fight
@@financialproblems9308 This just in: Local monkey man is 90% of the SOLE reason scrubs quit for honor. Can we contain him?

@@financialproblems9308 local report: monke man the sole reason for 90% of scrubs leaving the game!
@@financialproblems9308most players don't stay in for honor because they don't wanna learn to get good they just wanna complain and call everything broken unless it's a D tier character
every time I see the monkey class I run BP
The more simple answer: people don't know how to deal with him and don't wanna learn that's why they hate him. Honestly hatred makes me wanna play him more
I haven’t seen a Shaolin in weeks lol.
shaolin just has so many options to choose from. after maining PK then Lawbringer and then trying shaolin i was like wow this is really easy. characters with way more options are just easier to win with and it’s kinda BS. now honestly shaolin isn’t busted broken but characters like lawbringer being in the same game as characters like shaolin is just so dumb. they aren’t even on the same playing field dude.
I find him pretty fun tbh in my opinion he’s a good hero to get your skill up and just pretty fun to fight and play as 🤷
The only time I beat a Shaolin is on a good day
So if we have characters with crazy offense and T3 to react. When is pirate gonna get her soft cancel back
Me a law main and fighting shao is just the biggest pain.
