- Today we are doing something that I have never done before....talking about a Blu-Ray release. I have seen sooooo many reviews and unboxing vidoes on the Friday The 13th Deluxe Box Set from Scream Factory, so I wanted to make a video more about "is this box set worth buying" since SF decided to start replacing discs. Hopefully you guys like this, cause I want to do more videos like this in the future.

The clear cases are much, much, much better than the blue cases, it makes the colorful art labels stand out more.

I received the replacement discs & the set is worth it in my opinion, certainly the best we have seen so far.
I’ve been a fan of this franchise for decades. I own nearly every single edition of these movies on DVD and Blu-ray, and I absolutely love this box set.
This set is most definitely a must have.

I live in Australia and have bought this (including poster and lithograph) from a seller off ebay. Lucky for me the seller is kind enough to acquire the 3 replacement discs along with the main item(s).
My last and only hope is that the box set and blurays will not be damaged in transit! I hope to receive the set soon and have a special place on my shelf to display it😁

But how? As far as i know replacement discs havent been issued? You may be waiting awhile if seller is waiting for those to arrive befor shippig to you. Will be worth the wait though!:)
@@fraps4dinner831 My seller lives in California, where Shout! Factory base is also located. So that is a big bonus for me to be guaranteed to get the discs. The other bonus is that he was kind enough to do this for me - considering him being an overseas ebay seller. He stated he already has the Blu ray box set, poster and lithograph ready in hand and will post me the replacement discs included in the parcel when he receives them. I feel at ease, because it's not always easy to acquire this kind of overseas service - not living in mainstream USA, of coarse.😊
Isnt this set Region A locked? What region is Oz? Im in south africa and region B unfortunately and region free players expensive
@@clvantonder2765 @CL Van Tonder Our blu ray code for Australia is region B, but I have an all region Blu ray played easily purchased at my local retailer. As for 4K UHD I have a PS5 Console. I don't think it should be too expensive for you to pick up a decent All Region Blu ray player too- that is if you need one.
To me, the set has been completely worth it. I haven’t done the replacement discs as the issues are so small that it’s not worth it to me. Great set. I’m currently on my second watch through since October when it was released.
New subscriber! I still love the this set even though we have multiple errors and this was my most anticipated release of the year. I still don't understand how a company like SF could let this happen in the first place. Discs replacements can be such a headache but that's great to see they're fixing the problems. Wish they could've did 4k scans for the first 8 movies. I really agree with everything you mentioned here about this set.
Thank you! I think Scream Factory has gotten complacent the last few years. But I’m hoping this set was a small wake up call for them. So many people called them out for not giving this set the care they should have, and I’m hoping they learned a lesson. But with that being said, it’s dope still.
I just want to write that my name is Josh and i also bought the scream factory 16 bluray boxset too and it was the best Friday the 13th boxset ever. there are 22 audio commentaries spread throughout the whole boxset too.
My box was pretty sturdy. No problems with my cases, thank God. I did get the replacement disc, but I saw part 3 before the replacement disc came and there was nothing wrong with it. 😆
I see that some of these movies were from a 4K transfer. I'll wait for the 4K set about ten years from now. I assume whatever was cut from one of the films will be restored by then. I've never bought the previous sets and that goes for Halloween. I'm waiting for my dream box set. Thanks for the review.
I think you’re right, there will definitely be a 4K set of this eventually...and the labels know well all buy them again. Collecting is in a weird place because of 4K atm...And companies know they can drop a Blu-Ray set and 6 months later drop a 4K set and EVERYONE will buy it again. Blue Underground comes to mind...
@@MikeTheFinder I think Anchor Bay did the same nonsense with the first Halloween. I mean, how many versions did they release just on DVD? It's insane and Crazy Eddie said so.
Nah they lost rhe lawsuit not happening been forever since th halloween bosses they only remasted the first halloween they won't go all out they would only remaster the first one
Is this better than the Warner Bros 12 movie collection? With the red logo on black & white Jason cover?
The problem with the tin set is Jason Goes to Hell is the rated version.
I'm not convinced 8k discs will ever be a thing. A lot of companies don't even want to spend the money to remaster their biggest selling titles in 4k. Plus, the technology for it wouldn't make any sense because you'd need an 80 inch TV to make a notable difference between 8k and 4k. No, I think 4k is the last form of physical media, but hey I could be wrong because I'm sure someone said the wagon would be the last mode of transportation.

I have the tin set and just bought a replacement Jason Goes to Hell unrated disk on eBay and I feel it’s the same now.
I think it's totally worth it, this is the most definitive box set of Friday the 13th we've ever had so far. Back in the 90's we didn't have box sets like this so I know what it was like when the home video market was pretty primitive and lacking in box sets/collector's editions for horror franchises..... the 90's/early 2000's was a pretty limited and piss poor time for physical media horror collectors. I think the box will be ok if you don't bang it around everywhere and just take care of it, I have VHS boxes that are over 30 yrs old and look brand new lol.
I think it’ll be fine for a few years. But I’ve taken the cases out and am using the box as a display piece for now anyway. So it should hold up for a while. Thanks so much for watching!
I love this set and I think it was so worth it. I don't think that the box is that bad. If it stays solid on a shelf, I don't think anything will happen to it. Scream Factory was kind of enough to replace the discs (I got mine). I thought the packaging on the tin set was trash and not good for the discs.
I think this was so worth it. Amazon has a good deal on it. It also has a disc full of new special features including stuff ported over from previous releases. I'm kind of shocked with the negativity on this. They could've improved on a thing or two. But, I recommend this set to everyone and to sell all the other sets they have.
I was looking for a video on this exact topic cus Im thinking of getting rid of my copy. I bought my copy from Best Buy for like $100 a few months after it was released like around December 2020. Mine is still brand new in the shrink wrap 2 1/2 years later. I did get the replacement discs too. The 3d in part 3 is some of the best Ive ever seen. Love the artwork on the box and cases but I am not a fan of regular blu-ray cases of any kind whether they are clear, blue, or any color. Most of my collection is steelbooks now so that is one reason I am thinking of getting rid of it. Also have a the movies on digital. Im just a casual Friday the 13th fan. At the time of purchase I was thinking that this was going to be rarer than what it turned out to be, so I bought it. The Friday the 13th collection in the tin at one point seemed rare and was expensive to get then this came out. As a casual fan of the franchise Im going to say it’s probably not worth it
I have the previous 8 film Blu Ray set. Can't justify the price for double dipping, especially due to the problems that came with the set. Thanks for being honest.

Great video, the set has sadly not lived up to the expectations it promised sadly!! I'm going to get one from a pal, like yourself I wanted to wait till I heard reviews of it, so I could make a more informed purchase! So I'm getting a one cheaper from a friend but it'll be cheaper, if I had paid top price I would have been a bit bummed for sure!! Great video 🤩🤩👍👍
If you can get it for a good price, definitely do it. But like I said, it’s worth it if your really into Friday. But im gonna be bummed when a 4K version comes out lol
@@MikeTheFinder Paramount will do the 4K discs, I doubt they'll ever let SF do it otherwise they would've let them do it now with this set or gotten at least 4K scans for all 12 films.
Great set. Happy for all of the people that were able to get there hands on it. But for me personally, I got the 8 movie collection and I'm good. I might get the original Friday the 13th Theatrical Version on Blu-Ray just because of it. I love special features, but I don't love them that much. Way too overpriced, and I own them on Blu-Ray anyways. But the reversible artwork, the idea to get them in separate case's is always a favorite of mine, but I'll just stick with the 8 movie collection.

All of the countless times I've watched that movie, and I never noticed that 180 degree rule being cast aside like that before. Now it's probably going to be a glaring defect every time I watch it, you sonofa...!😆
I was planning on buying this in 2020 but the price was too high and I already had the blu-ray box set in the metal box so I didn't need another box set.
Just be thankful that the movies aren’t in shared discs and don’t complain about the box; it has very cool artwork

I was pretty pissed when i found out about the issues as miniscule as they are, but was pleased when they announced replacements. But wtf, where are they? I put an order in second i was able, didnt even get a confirmation? We'll see what happens. Also i cant believe your box?! My set isnt like that, its extremely sturdy and thick, matter fact when i put a case back in the box turning it sideways letting it drop it makes a loud echoing thud noise,scares the shit outta my cat everytime lol. I had preordered the deluxe set from scream fac. Im wondering if the deluxe set boxes were manafactured differently? I also got pretty lucky, my set was pristine, not a nick or scratch,or cracked case. I cut out just the plastic covering the discs and left rest on to protect the box. Its def worth a purchase, but i agree, if you own the tinset, i wouldnt grab this. The tin had everything correct minus the 3d, including the wristsnap scene misssing from 9 in shouts set. I even heard the transfers look a lil better then shouts but i cant confirm that
I put mine in a few days after I made this video, and still have no idea when I will get em in. It’s interesting that your box is made better 🤔 I wonder how varied the quality is across all 20,000 with the boxes. I doubt they would put in the effort to make different boxes but who knows. If I owned the tin set I honestly wouldn’t have even looked at this one. Eventually they will put these all out in 4K probably then I’ll feel really dumb for buying this lol thanks for watching!
@@MikeTheFinder yeh I have a feeling its a manafacturing issue. Being I preordered from Shout early on,I probly got the first slew of boxes that were made. Maybe later ones they thinned out and made flimsier to lessen costs? Either that or the deluxe sets were made differently? Or it could just be Amazon not stocking them properly. I'm imagining shelves with Friday boxsets stacked 10 or 15 high. You probly got the one on the bottom lol. Possibly 4k but I wouldnt hold your breath considering all the copyright bs surrounding Friday. Was probly hard n costly enough for Shout just to do this boxset. And yes, still no replacement discs! wtf

Would of loved for “Scream Factory” versions of F v. J and the reboot instead of the retail versions. Still hella worth it tho!
I think its worth the $140 (Amazon after tax and shipping). Thank God they're replacing the 3 discs because I did the same thing as soon as they announced it. what makes the set worth it is because of Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X. you can't find on blu ray and the imports and bootlegs are expensive and sketchy. The 3D issue I could care less because I'm not that big into 3D.

I was actually able to get the tin set for a reasonable price with those blu rays because this set made that set less unique
How do we know if the discs are the replacement? I was wanting to get this on Amazon but I want to make sure I get the one with the new discs. Should I just order from shout? It’s 30$ more from scream factory than from Amazon.
You will be looking for a "R1" printed on the disc next to the serial number. If it doesn't have it, then will need to contact scream factory directly. Show them proof of your purchase (doesn't matter if it's directly from them or not) and they'll send you the replacement discs.

I bought this set off an Ebay seller for £149.99 brand new. I thought the box would've been plastic not card but it's still nice.

Man wish I had found this 3 months ago. Mine came without the remake DVD, but since I bought it from Best Buy, of course their last one, Scream Factory said I was SOL on this one as they do not replace disc on sets not sold by them.
Wow…that’s really messed up. Sounds like SF tho unfortunately…they have fallen pretty hard the last several years imo
Sorry to hear that Yakbat. I bought mine from Amazon and SF sent me the discs by showing proof of purchase, I worried they wouldn’t cause it wasn’t from them directly but they made it right, that was like a month ago. Sorry man.
The set is good, but one great thing that definitely came out of this is that it made the tin set affordable, I was able to get it for $40 in an eBay auction complete because this set made it less unique. 7:30 There will never be 8K discs, it is not even remotely viable, not even to a niche audience.

I’ll wait for the 4K transfer box set if it ever is made .
Eventually paramount will hand off the 4K rights to a smaller label. But not before they put em all out as standard releases first. So it may be a while, but we’ll get it at some point. Thanks so much for watching!

I picked mine up after the price drop to 130. Definitely worth it. There is so much supplemental material. There's no way it's it's worth it.

Still waiting for my replacments and it's been shipped off on 11-26-20. It's 12-20-20 now.
That’s weird, I got mine in last week. Did take a bit tho
several months passed where i was waiting for mine. when i saw an email they'd sent saying i should definitely have my discs by x date and if i didn't to reach out...so i did. a couple weeks later the replacement discs for the replacement discs showed up. haven't looked at em all yet, just popped in jason x, I'll be checking, but the menu seems different? probably isn't, either way, super pleased that they sent 6 discs out to me and was pretty hassle free on my end.
Does anyone have the actual time codes where the mistakes happen? I just got my set and I know the movies which have the mistakes but not sure where to find them

The box set should be rock hard Friday the 13th blu ray collection. I got mine for £81 from amazon free shipping brand new boxset.

Has anyone noticed how blurry/hazy/faded alot of the shots on the part 3 BluRay look? Is it just me or did it always look like this and I am only just noticing it for the first time?
I actually haven’t sat down with Part 3 yet...but I haven’t seen anybody else bring it up. But that doesn’t really mean anything lol

As far as I know there were 20,000 made total. 7000 with the poster and lithograph (all of which are gone I believe), and 13,000 without the posters. Because of the problems with some of the discs they didn’t sell quite as well as Scream Factory wanted them to, so there’s still a bunch around. But if you really want it, I wouldn’t wait. Eventually they will be gone. Thanks so much for watching!!

I understand it's a mess and that's why I'm passing on this set.
To many mistakes and You would have got is a crappy box.
Certainly this mess was done with people who do not see their value in Cinema.
I do this deserves better all around. The Price is ridiculously over priced and also setup before the Pandemic Good Video 🙂

Tbh I’m sure it will eventually...but it could still be several more months before that happens. But that’s just me guessing. If you REALLY want it, I wouldn’t wait. It’s a good box set despite some of the issues that some people have had.

Why everyone saying they should do a Nightmare On Elm Street Box Set it not gonna happen if alot of people already complaining about this boxset people are making scream factory not do a big boxset ever again
I disagree, they will make many many many more box sets. Holding them to a high standard is a good thing, being critical of something (especially when it’s this expensive) is the best way to hold them accountable. They know they messed up this set, and they WILL do better next time because of it. It’s a dope box set, it’s just had a few problems. But they are fixing it, so it’s all good! Thanks for watching!
I only payed 100 so I’m content. It is extremely cheap and not well made or thought through but all of the films do look the best they have ever looked so that is the main selling point sadly which was the lowest bar to clear.
Honestly shout/ scream factory is one of my least favorite companies because they don’t do anything to a high quality.
Wow $100 is a great deal for 12 movies! Lol but your right, Scream Factory has slowly lost quality over the last few years. It’s funny a few years back they raised their prices, but the quality fell 🤔 interesting...

Shout! Factory drives me crazy. I get excited about their new releases and throw my money at them, but more often than not there’s always something that disappoints me. It used to be the QC on their posters. I’m just like “Get it together Shout!” I appreciate what they do, but they are walking a fine line. Either they are going to learn from these mistakes and improve, or they are going to keep going down hill until they go under. I mean, it’s not like they are the only name in the game. They need to step it up.
This box set is worth it only if you get the posters like i got the posters you won't be disappointed but now that the posters are all sold out it not worth it

I will admit that I was really tempted at first. That box art is really cool. I couldn't give two shits about the posters. It all boiled down to, do I want all of the F13 movies? Absolutely not. I like parts 1,2,4 and 6.
Turns out Amazon had the Paramount 8 movie set for $20.00 with the anaglyph 3D version of part 3. There you go.
At the end of the day, this is F13. It's not something Criterion Collection is going to put out so, I don't care about 4k transfers either. These aren't high quality films and knowing that the box that I don't have room for anyway, is shitty, yeah.

Lol I agree with most of this. This is a die hard F13 fan set, and it’s not worth it if you aren’t super into it. A 4K set will happen with this at some point and I’ll feel dumb for buying this. But that’s the nature of collecting sometimes lol
