- So I'm trying something new with my channel. I'm looking to interact a lot more with my subscribers and I thought of this concept of doing the Battle Of The Boxsets where it's up to my subscribers to vote which is the best of the two. So for this video it's going to be Nightmare on Elm Street vs Friday the 13th. Both boxsets are spectacular and I'm very curious to see what people think. I really hope you enjoyed the video

Scream Factory needs to release an Elm Street box set!
I'm sure Jeff it's only a matter of time before scream factory do releases it. They've already done two of the Holy Trinity so I'm sure it will happen

I gotta go with the F13th set, as I love the artwork and I prefer it as a franchise aswell, plus it's an official English release. I do like the artwork on the Elm Street boxset, but the Nightmare Memories title really bothers me for some reason. Can't wait to see more of these battle vids, as it's a great idea and I hope that Basket Case set is in one of the battles vid.
That is a valid point and I completely understand. Don't know why they couldn't put the title of Nightmare on Elm Street on the box and I do prefer Friday the 13th as a franchise. So thank you Andrew for your vote. There is no question that basket Case Is Going To feature in one of my videos. It's just a question of who I will pair it with. Time will tell.

You could imagine how surprised I was when I found it on eBay. I had no idea about it myself. It is by far the best edition you can get for that franchise and chances are it will probably be the best for a long time. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking it out

Hey Joseph. Now that would be the dream edition for Nightmare on Elm Street. I haven't seen Freddy's nightmares in well over 20-years and I would love to revisit them again.

I also have the complete set of (quilted) ANOES mediabooks, and the Never Sleep Again 1&2 one and the Friday The 13th Scream Factory set, but I have not unsealed either one, aside from the Never Sleep Again mediabook, which I opened and confirmed that the Never Sleep Again disc is Region B locked, while the "I Am Nancy" disc is region free.
Unfortunately my Nightmare on Elm Street set was second hand so I never had the luxury of keeping it sealed. It really is a fantastic edition and I would love buy some protective case to put it into just to get that extra peace of mind
Great video matey. Don’t know if I want a new 4K quality of a nightmare on elm street. The grain and darkness gives it that dreamlike quality. Cleaning it up could take away from its atmosphere
That's actually a very good point you just made. But I'm sure if they actually give it a 4K treatment I'm sure they will stay faithful to the movie itself. Thanks for checking it out

I'm like you John. I love the Friday the 13th movies and I always preferred the franchise over nightmare. But when it does come to the box sets Nightmare on Elm Street hands-down is my favourite. It is a close call like you said but I think when you look at the nightmare box set you know it's going to last for years where the Friday the 13th set is a little flimsy. Thanks for your vote John.

Omg I just got my friday the 13th deluxe box about a week ago and now I see you do a video about it, awesome! Hard to chose I like the friday the 13th collection, love the box but wish it was a bit thicker and a bit sturdier. The nightmare on elm street box looks great and is a bit more special, definitely love it but I’m still gonna go for the friday the 13th box! 😊

I prefer Friday the 13th as a franchise but I do think the Nightmare on Elm Street box set has a better build quality. You can tell by feeling this box set that nothing is going to happen to it where the Friday the 13th I sometimes worry that shelf ware is going to appear rapidly on it. But hopefully I'm wrong
Here’s my take on them. Friday the 13th has the better outer box art, but Freddy’s interior packaging blows Friday away. Those digibooks are great and keeping the original art was genius. So just based on over packaging, I’d go with Freddy. But both are excellent. Great video!
I thought the exact same. The artwork on Friday the 13th looks spectacular but it doesn't hold a candle to the Mediabooks you get with nightmare. The artwork on each title looks fantastic. Thanks so much for checking it out
For the corners of the box your could dab it with a black sharpie pen. I tend to do that with boxes and slipcovers that have wear on the black corners, then just rub it slightly with your finger to make it blend in
To be honest I don't like putting any kind of marker onto any of my editions. Maybe it's just the collector in me that won't allow me to do it.
That Nightmare Memories set is incredible! I am not a huge Freddy fan but that set looks amazing, I need to find one 😃 if you use google translate w/ the camera on your phone and scan the digi book it will translate them
Hey Gordon. The nightmare set is probably one of my prized possessions in my collection. It's one thing to get the mediabooks but to actually get the box itself is another thing entirely. You have to understand when this edition got first released you never got that box with them it had to be bought separately. It's very strange but that's how it was done. I've actually used Google translate on these Mediabooks. It actually works very well. Thank you so much for stopping by

I just did a quick Google search for "Jason Lives teaser poster" and it was only that main poster that came up. I wonder if they didn't do reversable covers from that onwards because those later films didn't have teaser posters?
That's probably why we didn't get reversible covers. I was always wondering about that with this edition. Thanks for looking into that for me
Actually while both versions are limited, it's the A Nightmare On Elm Street mediabooks with the regular book binding - not the quilted covers - that were limited to 1000.

I almost purchased the Friday box set but I've already got the Complete Collection tin and the Ultimate Collection with the mask. I would've liked some collectibles in the set other than the poster. Between these two I think my vote is for NOES. Great vid!
I have the collector's tin myself. Believe it or not I actually prefer that tin collection over the other boxset. What makes the screen factory so much better is the transfers they've done on the films. Thanks so much for your vote my friend. Really appreciate it

great info, I'm thinking of paying good money for both sets on Amazon so I can get both collections with crushed corners and lose disc, I bought the old original nightmare on elm street complete box set and the Amazon driver used it to sit on while making his deliveries, it arrived to me shaped like a basketball and I returned it for a full refund, I have to see my products in hand now before I purchase, I really think some people believe as long as the disc play it's alright and they don't realize most people want their products mint with nice corners and no dings or scratches, sorry I'm just letting off a little steam...LOL!
No I completely get where you're coming from my friend. I always want my boxset in pristine condition. Unfortunately with this Friday the 13th boxset I've already started to notice shelfware coming on it and that's kind of scary when you think about it because I don't even have it that long. The Nightmare on Elm Street box is built like a house and you just know that this will always look pristine. I do think both are definitely worth buying but if you can get the Nightmare on Elm Street box set I would get that one over Friday because it's so unbelievably rare. We all have to let off a bit of steam every now and again I completely understand

It's incredibly rare. As far as I remember I think there is only 1000 of them. Your best chance would be eBay

I think I know the box set of Nightmare on Elm Street that you're talking about and it's a beautiful edition. Scream factory did a great job on this set of Friday. But the Nightmare on Elm Street set in this video is by far one of the greatest looking sets I've ever seen. It was the edition of Nightmare I was waiting for

Thanks Jimmy for your vote. The Nightmare on Elm Street box set is no question very special but it also has its flaws. Two movies on one disc in particular is something that really bothers me. But like I said in the video you can already see shelf ware appearing on the Friday the 13th set. So I knew it would be a tough one to call but thankfully I don't have to vote
The transfers are passable, but dated. All 7 films need brand new 4K scans from the negatives.
It would be great to see wouldn't it. There's a rumour going around that scream factory are going to be bringing out a nightmare box set. Fingers crossed that happens
@@millerman9991 oh bro, fingers are crossed so tight they are turning purple. LOL. It's Warner's fault, not Scream Factory. Warner Bros. doesn't like to license out their films all that often. I'm hoping they make an exception for this franchise so it can be treated right. If Scream gets this, it will sell so many sets it will be absolutely ridiculous. @@millerman9991 oh I definitely won't be a stranger, and let's hope that artwork turns out to be a legit thing. The Elm Street franchise hasn't had a great release since the 1999 New Line DVD boxset, which I have of course.

Where did you get the Nightmare box set?!? Looking for Blu-ray collection for both!
I picked up the nightmare boxset from Germany but to be fair there is absolutely no chance of ever getting it. They are incredibly rare and if you do find one chances are you'll have to spend a fortune.

@@millerman9991 Could it also be that people in general prefer the Nightmare films? I never really got into the Jason films and after the 3D film, which I thought was awful, I never watched another. I'm sure I've upset some people there so sorry about that. John.
Believe it or not John going by the comments I think people prefer the Friday movies instead of Nightmare but they think the nightmare box set is far better and that's what I was hoping they would do. Everyone seem to have put their feelings aside for the movies they love and voted for the box set instead. Don't ever apologise for having an opinion John. To be honest the first 4 are my favourites and I probably should have stopped there.

Hey Kyle always great to meet a fellow Irish man. The Nightmare on Elm Street box set is very very rare. I purchased mine on eBay. It's a very strange release because you have to buy the cardboard box separately and I think I bought that from a German company but unfortunately I can't remember the name of it. The Friday the 13th box set is very simple all you have to do is go on to amazon.com and you will find it there. The last time I checked that boxset it was going for very cheap. The Nightmare Memories box is awesome & the Never Sleep again doc is incredible in its own right. The F13 boxset is incredible as well....these are jam-packed, top-notch sets...for me the NOES set wins out. I'm with you on the reboots for both franchises by the way, and I'm all for a return of England and Hodder. 👍👍👍

Be my favorite as I am more of a Jason fan, but I used to own the nightmare collection on Blu-Ray a few years
Ago that i wasn't impressed with cause they put two nightmare movies on one disc that was a disappointment
So I stuck to having the DVD box set, thou the nightmare movies has been released again in the UK with each

Yeah I'm just like you you. I I prefer the nightmare box set but I'm a massive fan of Friday the 13th. I also hate the way you have two films on one disc. I think what we need is a scream factory release of Nightmare on Elm Street. The transfers are decent on this box set but there's definitely room for improvement. I'm sure it will happen sometime. I'm actually weird and hate digipak/digibook style, and I'm also not a fan of steelbooks either surprisingly. Maybe because they don't look uniform on a shelf, and from my experience tend to be extremely fragile when it comes to getting scratches, or the corners getting nicked similar to your F13th box outer box. So I prefer the Friday the 13th set. But both of these look really cool. Hopefully I have a chance to pick up the Friday set at some point, and they bring over a version of the Nightmare on Elm Street to the US.
No I completely understand that. Mediabooks and steelbooks are not for everybody. I have separate shelves for all my steelbooks and mediabook and I find they do look quite well together. But if you start putting them in with standard releases they won't look right. Thanks for giving me your vote and I really do appreciate you checking the video out
Just started collecting but only collecting 4k. Did the friday 13th get a 4k release?
Hey John and welcome to the world of 4K collecting. Unfortunately Friday the 13th have not been released on 4k and to be honest I can't see it happening anytime soon because they just released this box set from scream factory in the last year and I don't think they'll be in a rush to do the 4K treatment on them at this moment in time. Fingers crossed they do come out sometime in the future

There was a time when Nightmare on Elm Street look great on Blu-ray but unfortunately it it hasn't aged well. When you see the treatments that Friday the 13th or Halloween get it really does put nightmares transfer to shame. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we do get a 4K treatment on this franchise. Thanks again clark for checking out the video

No you're absolutely right. I kind of figured that there was no way they would do a 4K box set for the entire collection. Especially when you see certain collections like Star Trek and even Halloween now where the first couple of movies are only getting a 4K treatment. I can understand why they're doing it because if they brought out a complete set in 4K could you imagine how much it would cost.

I choose Friday The 13th! I much prefer the UK covers for the Elm Street Films. Most of those are the US artwork. Which is strange coz that's a German release and region B! I might be in the minority here, but I would prefer them all to be released in the UK separately with the original UK artwork!

Friday is the best box for content but that nightmare set was beautiful
That is the one thing that's lacking with the nightmare boxset is the fact that there was little to no content. Hopefully someday in the future we'll get a definitive release of Nightmare. Thanks for checking the video out

I think for me it Hass to go to Friday the 13th it is true that the box is pretty weak and is Very fragile but it has that beautiful art and includes Freddy versus Jason

You didn't like part 2? Whaaat? Lol the first 3 are my favorite movies of the series. Yeah it's different but they hadn't established every rule in the series yet.
Yeah part 2 never sat well with me. I don't know why but I think if you watch part 1 and 3 there's a huge leap in quality and entertainment over part 2. But that's just my opinion. I'm very strange when it comes to the nightmare franchise I could watch one of the movies and love it and then watch it again and not think much of it and vice versa
@@millerman9991 I've always found part 2 better than Freddy's dead and part 4 or 5, 4 and 5 are good but the characters aren't really memorable to me unlike Jessie is from part 2.
