WOW! Great vision, hard work and tenacity... You don't have to be a 'railroader' to realise the enormous amount of imagination and engineering skill that went along with that to create something magnificent. Well done indeed...
Thank you! It is not just my work involved. I do have good friends which are even more passionated about the hobby than I am. Even the maintanance would be too much for one single person.
Gras leaves, no problem. Build train, you will need to test the different order of processes (order of trail cars). You will need to have cars with miniweedeaters, on one or both sides (small drone motors should work, the train speed might need to be adjusted). The difference between one side and both sides will depend upon how you design. If the motor is in the car, and the head/s, are belt, or shaft driven, where is the power supplied/stored, etc. one side with the motor in car, and a battery in car might be one sided. Also, look at the balance of the cars. Leaves, a compressor, with ducts directing the exhaust, should blow the leaves out of the way, along with the grass cuttings from maintenance of the main yard. If you design a cutting car with a 180 degree cutting angle. I don’t know what degree of cutting to describe, but 180 degrees side to side, with 90 degrees of cutting front to top. On the leading car, would ensure that any plants would not droop into the path of any train on the tracks. Sorry for the length, hope this helps.
Thank´s for your very detailed idea. At the moment I am focusing on the build of my layout. When it is operational and mostly done I can look into building soething like what you described :)
Congratulations on 11 years of garden railroading! 🚂🌿 Your journey in this hobby is truly inspiring. It's amazing to see how dedication, creativity, and a love for trains can transform a backyard into a miniature wonderland. Your attention to detail and the way you've incorporated natural elements into your layout is simply stunning. We wish you many more years of joy, exploration, and sharing the magic of garden railroading with the world. Your story is a testament to the enduring appeal of trains and the beauty of nature. Keep those trains rolling and those tracks winding! 🌟🌼🚆
Thank you very much! My journey still continues and I am enjoying every bit of it! I try to build like the real railway, incorporating the natural elements insted of rebuilding the whole garden to accommodate the railway.
Very well done! The history of your experiences is interesting and I am fascinated by what you ate currently doing. It looks like such fun! I would love drone footage of your entire layout, though. It is hard to picture the whole thing from the limited views.
Thank you! It is fun that´s for sure. You´re right, up to this point you haven´t had a chance to see the full extend of the layout. Since I dont have a drone I will not be able to provide any birds view but I can imagine a future video with a full layout tour.
Danke, schau mal bei den anderen Videos vorbei wenn du es noch nicht getan hast. Aktuelle baue ich eine ganz neue Anlage, du kannst den gesamten Prozess von unberührter Erde bis zur fertigen Eisenbahn sehen!
HELLO FROM SYDNEY,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,good work......we all have to start somewhere and what better place for you to start is at THE START...lol.....i enjoyed your intro'',,,,,,,,,,,,,,see you in the future with some more comments.... i have sent your details to a number of my friends and they will sub to you.....THANK YOU for sharing...
Thank you very much for your nice komment, I really appreciate it! Your help to gather some more SUB´s is also very welcome. It is a great honor to see the channel slowly growing and people enjoying my videos, that´s what it is all about for me! Greetings from Germany.
I really like your work. I was just wondering is your build waterproof? And if yes how did you manage to achieve that with all the electric parts and models. Sorry if the question seems dumb, I'm thinking of starting this hobby and I'm still new to all this. Danke!
Do you mean the whole layout by "your build"? If so then most of the stuff is water and weather proof. The rolling stock is only outside during the operation of the layout. Most of the locos are rain resistent however there are some exeptions because of modifications. Tracks, signals, lanterns, buildings and so on are weather proof as well and stay outside all the time. Of course there is some weathering over the time but that makes the layout more authentic anyways. I hope this answers your question!
Be interesting to see a video of how you operate your line, I noted a book in your signal area so I imagine some sort of Schedule for trains but what about wagons? Do you use wagon cards with waybills much like I do?
Hi! We operate the line according to the ruels and regulations of the german railroad (Deutsche Bahn). The line is equipped with all the signals, signs and track contacts to operate accordingly. We do have two signal boxes, each operated by a dispatcher. There are time tables in place which coordinate most of the trains, however it is possible to run extra trains in between. There are no wagon cards since we use standard railcars manufactured by piko and LGB thus they have often times identical rail car identification numbers. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
Hi, I don´t use any additional materials, just the track ballast. The key is to avoid high embankments if possible. It is also important to leave the ballast alone so it can settle and stabilize itself. A few times a year I have to re adjust some spots and put some more ballast down but for me thats easy and enjoyable work.
Love the video and story behind it. I also had a backyard layout, but found that it was too much maintenance, I would keep it looking nice, but ran my trains once or twice a year. I finally decided to trade it for repairs on my home. It was an experience I will never forget.
Hi Richard, nice to hear form you! You´re right, maintenance is the biggest issue of a garden railroad. You have to stay on top of the game all the time. Over the years I have learned some tricks to build the railway in a certain way so that it is easily maintainable but it is still a lot of work. This only pays off when you run your tains regulary!
Hi!
The signalling and the scratch built signal itself is insane, bravo.
Thank you! It looks especially nice at night time!
This is very cool! Congratulations!
Thank you!
Bravo, bravo, BRAVO!
Thank´s, I´m glad you enjoyed it!

Thats right! You can do a lot of cool things with this scale railroad :)

What would be insanely fun is.
When you have guests over.
Just tell them to wait at the gate then drive a train over with drinks.
Thats what we do. We operate a barbecue train and a liquor train when we do have guests! Its allways fun to see the astonished faces :)

You are right. I am not a native speaker so sometimes I do use the wrong term for some parts. But I try my best to avoid it.
What scale is this?
1:22,5 better known as G Scale or IIm
