Bill Dance, I was 8 or 9 years old when I caught a large mouth bass. It was 14lbs 1oz. Exactly and I caught it in a large pond on my cousins property.
Little did I know at the time it was a whopper. My “uncle” or the guy on the adjacent farm had it mounted and a little plaque for me.
That bass wasn’t the biggest I’ve seen quite honestly.
Mind you I caught mine in a pond in South Carolina but in Ohio maybe twenty five years back I watched as a guy caught and had to sit on the bank to pull in the largest large mouth I’ve ever seen. It’s mouth you could easily put a bowling ball in it. It was fat too. I’m talking mutant large. At least 25lbs. I wouldn’t disagree if it was 30+ pounds.
No scale and no iPhones back then but he got a Polaroid of it.
There’s tons of exaggerated fish stories and then there’s this one. It’s true and I learned it was probably a record breaker.
The fish was pulled out of the Muskingham river in Muskingham county, Ohio.
It’s a rapid flowing river and a dirty one at that. But, the fish are mutant sized . I wouldn’t eat any fish out of that river but they sure are a sight.
I never caught anything quite like that 14lbs bass since I was a kid but I saw that’s the exact weight of the biggest LM Bass you caught too so I figured I’d share my story.
I have to say people that know me know I speak honestly and make it a habit to be truthful in everything I do but, I do get offended when someone calls me a liar and the truth just doesn’t work around an inability to believe in it.
My pops called me liar in so many words when I told him I got a 14lbs 1oz. Large mouth and so my uncle sent me the mount and plaque as I was visiting and went back to Florida.
I didn’t argue I just hung it in my room until he saw it one day i was at school.
He showed up at my school and pulled me out of class just to apologize and we went to a car show and treated me to lunch afterwards.
When I told him about a potential record breaker LM Bass he didn’t hesitate to believe me plus the pics didn’t lie.
I’ve learned there’s records and then there’s unrecorded better stuff.
There’s champions and then there’s the true best on the planet.
An open mind and an honest mind are the path of truth and wellness.
And sorry, Bass get way longer than 12” spite the video.

No he didn't say they stop growing at 12 inches HE SAID they reach maturity at twelve inches. Big difference, in other words they are considered adults at that length.

Bill I love the show but you got one of the states that has "never reported a 10 pound bass" wrong. The state record largemouth by weight in West Virginia that has stood since 1994 weighed 12.28 pounds and was caught out of a farm pond.

      @Jimmy445able 2 роки тому

I am from WV and thought about that too but I saw that Wyoming’s record is also over 10 pounds. But WVs was a pond and it seems like so was Wyoming. So maybe they aren’t counting private ponds only if the actual waters of the state or owned by the state like rivers and other impoundments produce a fish over 10 pounds

should you change color of your soft bait while having good success with one color or experiment ,

Hey Cam, don’t fix it if it ain’t broke. If you’re catching them on you’re soft bait, keep throwing it! 🎣 I’m not Bill Dance, but I’m old and have been bass fishing over 55 years. If your rod is bending, don’t change up. I experiment when I’m looking for fish & bites. Once I find em I sticking w/what works that day on that body of water. 👊🏼😎
