I don't get to fish a lot, but I dedicate one kill during deer season to a friend/brother of mine that past several years ago.... it's a bit of a "ritual".

The very first “lure” of my own was a sliver Hot Spot I receive for my 7th birthday. Over the years the spot became my favorite lure. Fifty years later, I still have the original although I don’t use it for fear of loosing it in the East Texas grass covered lakes, but I still use them religiously. Thanks for sharing some history.

The Super Sport the of that color was the first lipless crankbait that I caught a largemouth bass on. I'm not going to lie to. you I had no idea that you used to work for cotton Cordell. That's super cool! Great episode Bill keep on doing your thing! I never get tired of watching you man! Ever since I was a little boy!

My dad an i used to fish all the time about 15 to 20 years ago. Last year i bought a bass boat and now my husband and i go out fishing all the old lakes my dad and i used to fish, but i have noticed something strange. Every where we go to fish is now completely free of hydrilla cover and also there are no lilly pads anymore. What is going on here? Is green cover being eradicated in all fishing lakes? We can't seem to find any anywhere no matter what lake we visit.
    Thank you.

The invention of a Rattling Spot is county boy science, in simple terms commonsense. If you buy a lure because it costs more thinking it will work better is called a common mistake. Something you do and seldom mention is using pliers to remove treble hooks from fish. One more commonsense idea that everyone can learned from you. Sadly I discover the value of pliers too late. A feisty smallmouth still hooked to a Pop-R slapped on my bare leg and buried a hook up to the bend. That made a pair of pliers my new best friend for life. That thing was failing and wiggling and my pliers were lying on the boat seat too-too far away. There are a lot of good reasons to use barbless hooks and this is one real good one.

Sorry Bill, disagree! Today's business models operate on small profit margins and have to cut corners left and right to remain competitive in a global economy. What you are saying about cheap lures vs. more expensive lures USED TO BE TRUE but not anymore. I live as an unemployed, homeless veteran and am forced to purchase cheap products. They are lower quality and come with problems like weak hooks, unbalanced castings, thinner wire or cost efficient shortcuts to save manufacturing costs.
